On "My Car Story" we're in the North Suburbs of IL on 12-5-20.
We're looking at a 1948 Chrysler Town and Country Woodie Convertible in Green Paint. The car features the factory “Spitfire” 323 CI inline 8 cylinder engine.
The car's Owner is Claude Ohanesian. Claude’s had this car since 2019. Claude shares the details of this wonderful car which has all that amazing wood work built into the car body.
ENJOY!
This model is as close as you can get to a rolling work of art. Absolutely amazing! One could spend days viewing all the minute details. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again; even the details have details. Someone just stated that this car was ahead of its time, and how true that is! Thanks Lou, Claude, and the assistant for a beautiful presentation!!
Hi Rusty, High praise for this "rolling work of art" :-) You're welcome, and appreciate the kind words on this presentation, Lou
Sir, I couldn’t agree more with you.
Definitely a rolling work of art.
There's nothing more beautiful than when wood is used on a car and because of that this car is gorgeous!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
When the cars had class. What a beauty!
Nice :-)
The egg crate grille, and the same egg crate design carried over to the dash center, is so elegant.
And the Art Deco design of the full dash, is quite stunning!
Yes. Definitely pure class, a product of fine automotive craftsmanship now gone.
One of the most impressive Chrysler's I've ever seen. The details are gorgeous and it looks like no expenses was spared 👍
Hi David, High praise :-) Lou
Chrysler was a leader when it came to engineering. Too bad that profits became the MO for most car makers. I'm sure Lou won't have many classic 2021 vehicles to show in 73 years time! You'll still be doing your videos then, won't you Lou? 😄
Chrysler had a lot of features on this car early that other car companies would not use for many years.

WOW! What a stunning car! One of the most gorgeous I have ever seen! What a great video Lou!
Hi JON, Happy to receive a "WOW!" from you :-) Lou
What a treasure!!
Happy to read you enjoy this car :-)
Note the craftsmanship and note the style. Just beautiful! Thanks Lou.
Hi Bruce H., Lots of craftsmanship on this one :-) Happy to read you enjoy the looks. You're welcome, Lou
Yes yes yes!! That car is absolutely beautiful! I’m super jealous of the owner!
Hi Padme, Yes x 3 = Winner! Lou
Wow! Another wonderful segment Lou!
When people think of classic Chryslers, they often think of the Town and Country (and the Airflow).
You do a great job of presenting such a variety of cars, from different eras.
I actually saw a 1978 Chrysler Town and Country wagon on the road last Fall, the version that was based upon the Aspen/Volare,
and the faux wood panelling truly looks so out-of-place among modern cars!
Hi Nathan, Happy to read "Wow! Another wonderful segment Lou!" :-) High praise, and appreciate your encouragement, Lou
There is craftsmanship on wheels. I love all the attention to detail down to the smallest pieces. The highlander interior was an option and was available on all Chryslers.
Hi Chris, "There is craftsmanship on wheels" Well said, Lou
Wonderful! There was one in my neighborhood when I was a kid. They would park it on the street.(early 50s)
Hi BartRicky, Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hey Lou.. will have to let you know when me and my dad gets my papa’s 48 Windsor sedan running. These cars and his Windsor are extremely rare. Happy motoring as usual!
Hey Joseph, Sounds like you have a great car. Hope we meet and I can see it soon, Lou
Great Windsor’s !!Let us all know!, etc..........
Ps: may be an EPISODE, NOT MANY 48 Windsors ( if any , “so to speak”)............left.
Woodies never get old. Notice how all the flat head screws are perfectly aligned...
Hi Gabriel, Happy to read you enjoy this car, and great attention to details, I did not notice that. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Absolutely beautiful! Woody is a good name for the car, love the workmanship and detail. Good video Lou!
Hi Gary, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thank you for the kind words on this video, Lou
What a beauty! Claude's T&C looks and sounds great. You don't see these too often, let alone one as nice as this! Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to read you enjoy the looks and condition of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
awesome, unbelievable for 1948, and to think now cars are mad of plastic, so cheap. oh, yeah, very nice, back when cars were real!! thanx Lou!
Hi mouse, Happy to share this one with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
What a beautiful piece of jewelry!!!
I hope I'm not alone in thinking that the early post war cars had the most character and bling. This is a far cry from the T/C minivans of the 80s.
Thanks for another awesome car and video Lou 👍👍
Hi Pat, Happy to share this "jewelry!!!" with you :-) You're welcome, and appreciate the kind words on this video, Lou
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ultra rare. Ultra beautiful. Ultra awesome! Lovely interior, beautiful paint (and color), and the wood is incredible. Thanks for showing this amazing classic! Thank you Lou and Claude!
Hi Mike, High praise :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Thanks, Claude and Lou: a tremendous MOPAR , art , and machine!. Lot of wonderful Details, and history, and options ( blinking Emergencey,Conveetible,etc.).....I suspicion lots of details : engine history & style, Transmission and running gear, convertible, wood build, etc) are really interesting and sort of,”historic”....; interestingly , the Chrysler is a YEAR or so younger than me....!
Hi Opera, Happy to read you enjoy this "tremendous MOPAR , art , and machine!" :-) Lou
What a STUNNING! Interior and dashboard, INCREDIBLE! restored engine, AMAZING sound of engine, got goosebumps. I have no other words to express. Before I am not a fan of 40s and 50s automobiles, yet this is MAGNIFICENT Lou. I really appreciate for showing us this VALUABLE, ONE OF A KIND & UNIQUE Vehicle with an OUTSTANDING Craftmanship.
Hi Vern, Happy to read "AMAZING sound of engine, got goosebumps" :-) You're on the right RUclips Channel for you :-) Make sure to click on the "thumb up" when you see a car you enjoy, Lou
Hi Lou! Thank you for one more great video. I don't have to go to school. Just watch every your video and I will know everything about antique cars! :) This global warming-friendly car :) looks very unique with spectacular woodwork! HArd to believe that this car is over 70yrs old. Unbelievable!
Hi Aelita, Happy to read you're learning about the cars on this Channel :-) My pleasure leaving the legacy of these great cars for you to enjoy! Lou
Wow Lou, that’s the best Chrysler I have ever seen! It must have been very expensive in it’s day. I like the fuel cap release and the center brake light (like they have today)! The woodwork is amazing. The doors must have been heavy! They sure don’t put that much detail in cars today!
Hi Agostino, High praise :-) Lou
Car of the Stars, what a treat

Claude Ohanesian has an impressive biography.
Crystal knobs? What is the story?
48 Chrysler - the year puts a little more light on this car's elegance. A couple years, maybe not that many, unlikely anyone would have thought that this might exist.
Hi Old Town, Happy to read you enjoy the Care Taker & his cars story too :-) Lou
Get your facts straight. There were no town and country convertibles that left the factory with the Highlander upholstery - is after market and not original.and the “crystal” you refer to is plastic that was standard on the New Yorker and Town and Country. Gas cap is an optional accessory not standard equipment. Easy to check facts about your car - many sources. The wood is White ash and mahogany veneer bonded to metal panels .

Wow what a car! Loved the color so rich and perfect looking with the wood trim. The Town and Country Chrysler used for a very long time through the years of their cars. This car is just a huge piece of automotive history. Loved that old straight eight engine boy it sure sounded good. And that interior was just superb in this car with the crystal knobs and such. So much early innovation in this vehicle. Boy what a car and I bet it rode nice and heavy and smooth. Just a outstanding unit all the way around and a great owner too! Thanks Lou for bringing it to us to see!
Hi Steve, Happy to receive a "Wow what a car!" :-) I agree, the color and wood trim look great on this car. My pleasure sharing this one with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Great film, Lou. Looking around the background beyond the Chrysler there are plenty of other car stories to do, so get to it, My Friend!
Hi Donald, Happy to share some of the "lovely's" in the background, so stay tuned, share a "thumb up" for the ones you like, and make sure to watch the commercial through so I can get paid (or at least the ones you can), Lou

Hi CJ Design, Happy to read you enjoy this "high quality classy Country-side cruiser" My pleasure sharing this one with you. You're welcome, Lou
An awesome car. I ❤ the 2 piece windshield.
Hi James, Happy to read you think this car is "awesome" :-) Lou
Beautiful car… Beautiful presentation…
Hi JONNIE, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car, and the presentation too :-) Lou
ABSOLUTLY. INGENIOUSLY PUT TOGETHER .
COLOR GREEN , OF COURSE THE WOOD , THE BADGES , THE MIRRORS ,
YES. LOU. THE SPLIT. WINDSHIELD !!! HA
A GREAT LOOKING CAR
LOU ANOTHER GREAT. Collaboration with someone who must have contacted you to show this car off excellent thank you very much Lou
Hi Andrew, I agree the green with this wood is an awesome color for this car. Lou
gorgeous...all that green and woodwork...you'd feel like you're walking through the forest. Claude clearly just loves the car...just beaming...since he's new to the car, probably didn't know that the Highlander interior is more about the plaid than the crystal...and that the trans is called the (infamous) Fluid Drive.
Hi Steve S, Happy to read you think this car is "gorgeous" :-) Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Lou
Like the great European castles, Victorian houses of SF, or the skyscrapers of the early 20th century; these old baroque cars could never be duplicated today. This was a production vehicle! Great color and gloss wood tone.👏👏👏👍🇺🇸

Oh WOW! Who would've have thought that this car would become a 'PRECIOUS GEM' of the 21st century. This is such an IMMACULATE, FLAWLESS automobile of yesterday.
Hi Vern, Happy to read you enjoy this "PRECIOUS GEM" :-) Please make sure to watch the commercials (or at least the ones you can) before the car video I'm sharing, as that helps me make $ for the effort to video the cars we both enjoy, Lou
I think those clear knobs are DuPont Lucite. Crystal makes them sound like they're made of glass, but they're clear plastic. And they're beautiful to see. Thanks, Lou, for showing this car. My landlady in college once owned a 1946 T&C Convertible and she would talk about it. Her husband traded it in on a new white 1957 Chrysler 300C. They owned some really special cars.
Hi Jonathan NC, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Landlady's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge on the knobs too, Lou
Holy Cow! What an automobile! Love the green, plaid and wood. Glad you zoomed in on the dove tailing. MPG be damned, prob 8-9 miles/gal. Claude is a lucky guy. (I have a Danbury mint 1/18 of this in burgundy in my collection. It is iconic.
Hi Pat, Happy to read you enjoy the color, interior, and wood on this car :-) Glad to you you have a 1/18th of this car, nice! Lou
WOW!! These cars weren't built, they were "sculpted".
Such an amazing car.
Chrysler's in this era were so beautiful.
GREAT VIDEO LOU!
Hi TCT9MM, Happy to receive a "WOW!!" from you on this car :-) Glad to read you enjoy the "sculpted" work on this car. Appreciate your kind words on this video, Lou
So the name of the 📺 TV. Show that I say you should have could be named SWEET WHEELS WITH LOU. I got other ideas for names but seriously. It's educational clean fun but I bet it would have a decent following. Especially with ride-along ones. Tell me what u think lou.
Hi Keith, Hope I'm on TV soon so I can use that name :-) Great idea! Lou
Hi, Lou! This has to be one of the most perfect examples from an era of a long-lost craft. It's absolutely exquisite with the Scotch plaid interior and all the original woodwork. The Town & Country name went on to grace some of the most luxurious station wagons, and later minivans, in the industry. (It was a wagon in 1941 and 1942 and would be again starting in 1950.) And look how long it took the rest of the industry to see what smart ideas the dash-controlled gas cap opener and the center stop light at the rear were. The feds began requiring the stop lights with the 1986 model year.
This one's at home anywhere, in town, country or city! Many thanks to you and Claude for spotlighting this extra-special automobile.
Hi iswc27, Happy to read you enjoy this "long lost craft" car coming to the Channel :-) My pleasure sharing this extra-special car with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Fires right up with it's 6 volts so why do so many think they need 12 volts? The straight 8 sings such beautiful music. Finding someone to recore the odd shaped radiator would be a challenge I'm sure but i'm sure there's someone who can.
Awesome car and that's putting it lightly but I'd settle for a 4 door New Yorker or limo.
Hi Muffs 55mercury, High praise for this "awesome car" :-) Lou
There is a 1948 Chrysler Town and Country woodie convertable car , same color as your video car, showcased in the Science and Technology museum in Ottawa, Canada, where I live. 24 were manufactured for the Canadian market, and only 2 still exist. It's paired with a matching camper trailer. It's an impressive sight to behold. A rare beauty.
Hi Truth Provider, Thanks for sharing, and a matching camper trailer! WOW! That has to be pretty cool, Lou
Oh my gosh.. Amazing Car. Thank you Lou for documenting American Manufacturing history. Its artwork
Hi Scott, High praise for this "Amazing Car" :-) My pleasure sharing this "artwork" with you, and you're welcome, Lou
That's one spectacular car !!! With all of that beautiful detail inside & out production must have been few. Any idea of how many built ? Production time ? Thanks for showing us that gem !!! 👍👍
Hi Gary, High praise for this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
She's a beauty, no doubt about it.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Loved this one Lou! '30's-'40's art-deco cars will always be tops with me. Beautiful car. These were often shown pictured with the affluent at their country estates. They were high-end cars at the time, not utilitarian by any means. I love the dashes on these cars. Jukebox styling at it's best!
Hi Joseph, Happy to read "Loved this one Lou!" :-) Lou
This is the pinnacle of American assembly line pride... when American automakers actually cared about the product they created.
Hi 20alphabet, "This is the pinnacle of American assembly line pride... " High praise :-) Lou
Lou, I do enjoy your videos becasue you and your friends pick some great models to feature and you spend the right length of time clearly showing the minute details on video. However, I must be watching them out of order and hope you are learning and retaining the knowledge as you go. Your friend with the Sedanette Caddy taught you about the difference between the firewall tags that match the engine block that were also used to title the cars back then (like they use modern VINs now). The 1940's body tags tell you other info like interior and exterior colors and style/models. The serial numbers in the door frames do not match the engine block numbers in these 40's cars and you got real quiet while narrating your video saying that they would match on this Chrysler - and then they didn't (kinda funny). But hopefully you are learning these things as you go and we know you probably saw that they should match on a later model car that has a VIN tag so I won't hold it against you! Let the owners do the numbers decoding for you. Great channel. Keep it up and help others appreciate these works of rolling art from another era.
Jordan, Happy to read you're enjoying the videos with me :-) The more I video, the more I retain. Like a martial arts student, you have to keep doing the move over and over before you really get it. Thank you for sharing, and I appreciate your encouragement, Lou
Always loved these cars. Stylish, well made, opulent in detail, sumptuous comfort for its day.
Big deal made over Ford Woodies, but these are the ones you really want. Can't believe the originality of this car.
Hi Mark W, Happy to read "Always loved these cars" :-) Glad you enjoy this one, Lou
Hard to believe the same company that made dodge neons, and vans, made it, quite the beast, very elegant, reminds me of a hunting lodge, detailing of knobs switching outstanding, wood work incredible, how the heck would you find one like this Lou? Tombstone taillights, wonder what it cost back in the day Lou? Guy seems genuinely giddy about ownership and who wouldn’t be!
Hi Ron, Claude really loves this car :-) To answer your questions, 1) How the heck would you find this one? This one, Claude called me to stop by and take a look at it. 2) What did it cost? I have no idea. Thanks for viewing, and sharing, Lou
Wow. What a car. So much to see. Everything perfect. That wood body is beautiful. I can't imagine the time and skill it took to put it all together. Those super wide white walls, the crystal knobs, that great interior... Everything just blings. :) I really like the paint color too. That color almost makes me think of the old Porches. Thanks for sharing this one. I couldn't help but peek at the others in the shop. Hope we get to see some of those too in the future. Take care Lou.
Hi Russell, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you, and glad you appreciate the work to build one of these. My pleasure sharing this one with you, and you're welcome. Stay tuned, there will be more in the future with Claude :-) Lou
Beautiful car Lou. I have never had the opportunity to see one in person but I love woody's. I have a car show buddy that has a 1948 Packard woodie wagon. I think he said that it was 1 of about 400 or 500 built that year.
Hi PlymouthDuster 225, Happy to read you enjoy this Woody :-) Thank you for sharing, Lou
Never see one like this as Original condition like this Lou! Holy Cow!! Love it. I love the ‘55 or ‘56 Pontiac Conv. White over red. Thats my style.
Hi gene978, Happy to read you "Love it" :-) Lou
I believe that was the last year for real teak, oak and ash wood being used on the TC. These cars were the flagship of Chrysler of that time, ment to rival anything GM and Ford put out. Other than the Imperial, they were the most expensive Chrysler you could get. The interiors came in that color as well as red plaid. Hot Rodders in the early 50s used this engine in modified street cars because it made great torque at super low rpm. This is a real time capsule!

Hi Smartzenegger, I agree, the color on this car really makes it look great. Stay tuned, we'll see what's coming up next :-) Lou
Fantastic details. Your videos are unique 👌. I think cars made in the 50’s and 60’s had so much character although this is a 1948 model
Hi Ricardo, Happy to read you enjoy the details I share with you on the videos :-) Thank you, Lou
What a gem.The craftsmanship and details were gorgeous back in the day .It's a museum piece. But Lou we didn't get to hear the horns lol

This car looks as if it was made for royalty. Absolutely amazing build quality. I would love to own a car like this!
Hi Paul, High praise :-) Lou
a very old bugs bunny, elmer fudd in his initial rotund persona, wants to prospect for gold. and bugs makes his efforts futile, to say the least. this is elmer's vehicle, i believe.
Hi Scott, Happy to read "Elmer" drove one too :-) Lou
Highlander meant it had tartan plad upholstery. Chrysler and DeSoto all had lucite knobs.

Hi Lou! I noticed that most of the ADS are at the end of your presentations. There's nothing before the show. And so I ended up watching the middle part and 2 ads at every end, and each ad has a timer, and I assumed that's the one you are getting credit for.
Hi Vern, Thank you! I make sure there are no ads in the middle so you can just enjoy the presentation. Lou
Thanks for posting this Lou. Thinking about those artists in Detroit Michigan all of those years ago - they created something special.
Hi Ray, Happy to share this car with you, and glad you see work that went into this car to make it special, Lou
THIS CAR WOULD LOOK. BETTER. AS FURNITURE. IN. "YOUR. LIVINGROOM!!!" HA HA HA WOOHAA LOL HA
NICE :-)
That is two and a half tons of rolling art.
Would be interesting to know how the T&C ranked against the Imperial in the corporate hierarchy.
Hi Martin, "That is two and a half tons of rolling art." High praise :-) Lou
Lou there used to be a place in Signal Hill California that redid the wood for those Vehicles I'm just wondering if they did that one
Hi Elliott, Not sure. Lou

One day Lou, I predict you will interview a classic car owner who is a Reverand and you will say those immortal words., "Giver er a rev, Rev!" Okay that may not be the grandest thing ever, but if it doesn't bring a smile, bury em because they are obviously not among the living. I AM LOVING THIS WOODY!!!! Such a beautiful car. There's always something magical about Woodies. I'm giving this one 5 Coolness points and two thumbs up! Plus a bonus twin Wows!
Hi ImTheDaveman, Happy to read you "LOVING THIS WOODY!!!!" :-) Interesting you say that "Giver er a rev, Rev!", I said that when I interviewed Louis "Rev" Revisky's cars. Here is the @ about the 9:55 mark of that interview, enjoy! Lou ruclips.net/video/tRHbNRcVjzA/видео.html
@@loucostabile LoL - I saw that interview on the Willy's Jeep - and somehow that "., rev, Rev" eluded me! My pseudo prophecy was kinda retroactive. Doh! Oh well - at least it came true! Hahaha. WHOA! I noticed that RUclips once again removed my comment. I have no idea why that happens but a lot of my past comments disappear from people's videos that I comment on. Thats kind of irritating and RUclips has no means of contacting folks about the matter to find out why.
A very precious car thank-you Claude & Lou for this great video!
