I even hear his nose-bullets "firing" in places -- despite the effect not being part of the music. Especially when he rolls in when the battle starts. This game was just so on point in general.
My favorite moment in this game is when this track starts for the final battle with Axel Gear. At first it seems you are watching a cut scene. Every boss in the game had been some giant robot monster so you don't think anything is about to happen. Suddenly, Axel Gear blows open the wall of the space station and Sparkster holds on for dear life. Then this track starts and you realize: Holy crap! This is the boss.
+alienspacebat Rocket Knight Adventures boss music is one of my favourites too along with Streets of Rage 2's Never Return alive boss music which is one of the most awesome intimidating serious boss themes there is :)
This song was all the motivation I needed to get farther in this game. For context, I had this game as a kid, but never got passed the burning castle in level 1. Came back to it on a whim one day as a teen when I was home sick from school and played around with the sound test. This absolute SLAYER of a track graced my ears whilst doing so, and all I could think was, "Dude, where does this play in game? This is the rawest shit I've heard in years"! Still one of my favorite boss songs ever. It goes ludicrously hard, holy Jesus
Funny how there's no FINAL BOSS THEME in the game, at least not one as intense as this one! They play it even when the disembodied head is chasing you through orbit!
Hard to believe that it has been so long ago that my parents made the best mistake ever of getting my sister and I a sega genesis in the early 90's to which they included 2 games I remember very fondly. This one, and Cyborg Justice. My sister did not care much for gaming, but I enjoyed countless hours on this game.
The slow build of dread and the imminent doom coming your way to be met with your strongest force in confrontation, building up in the desperation of this struggle, with a very quick defusal. rinse and repeat, until you here that sweet sweet victory music... or that konami code sound effect... uwah!
When you was fighting a though boss with only 2 lifes and 0 continues and your mom says : Time to supper !! close the console! NOOO!!! I CAN'T SAVE MY PROGRESS !!!! LET ME FINISH THIS BATTLE PLEASE !!! I CAN'T STOP NOW !! " Good times hardcore mode :'(
It would be a low chance that he would he in the game because he’s a SEGA genesis game. Yes I know Sonic is in smash but it’s for a specific reason. Sonic is in it because I’m pretty sure Nintendo makes Sonic games now. Because SEGA went down the crapper I think it would be awesome for him to be in the game but it’s a very low occurrence that he would be in it
the one thing i could say since i played this new at the age of 6 was man did the music hit HARD in this game, this game had BASS and then some whoever hasn't played rocket knight SHOULD GET TO IT.
The Genesis was better for electronic/techno music, while the SNES was better for orchestral music. Since I really like electronic music, the Genesis always sounded better to me.
No enemy shall stand before me with this powerful, sense encompassing, nostalgia inducing, rhythmic battle beat, that reminds us of scars even from childhood that make our skin like armor. We are the rogue like generation. Its wasn't a genera, it was just videogames.
My favorite boss is the giant mechanical fish and the lava. You had to keep moving on the platforms in order to avoid damage. The sfx together with it was just amazing.
Damn, I used to be able to play this game without losing a life once, and now since I haven't played in a long while, I can't even pass the first level without getting hit.
This is easily the Number 1 most underrated platformers. It's #1 in my top 3. Sparkster wasn't AS good, but still amazing with ridiculously hard bosses for my young age..
My favorite game music 1: Super Mario kart Rainbow road 2: Rocket Knight Adventures Boss 3: vs champion blue 4: temple Super Smash Bros Melee 5: Miitopia Boss theme 6: Emperor Bulblax theme Pikmin 7: the ultimate show Super Paper Mario 8: Reanimation Underswap 9: For True Story Sonic Adventure 2 10: Luigi’s mansion theme

I always think of the train boss whenever I hear this music. That boss's movements were just perfect for the music.
Akari Enderwolf Same!
Same here.
I even hear his nose-bullets "firing" in places -- despite the effect not being part of the music. Especially when he rolls in when the battle starts. This game was just so on point in general.
I think of the sick robot fight against axle
THAT BOSS SCARED THE DUCK OUT IF ME WHEN I WAS A KID
Absolute favorite boss theme ever.
I still replay this game just to hear the boss theme....>_

The creativity of the boss fights in this game really thrilled me back then.
If only they had a sequel
@@Iohannis42Pretty sure Rocket Knight Adventures got a sequel.
@@Iohannis42 sparkster: rocket knight adventures 2
Best boss fight in the game in my opinion, during that second phase I'm thinking " ok let's go mother ducker"
One of the best boss tracks of this game's era.
Whenever i think "boss music" this and the Sonic 2 regular boss ones come to my mind first. When music gains identity, 10/10
Same, easily best boss musics.
@@ostimeg but the adventures of batman and robin has cool boss music too
Streets of rage 1+2 as well as those. for me~
This is one of my favorite and most serious boss themes ever! It's like a Genesis equivalent to the boss theme from Yoshi's Island.
+alienspacebat Rocket Knight Adventures boss music is one of my favourites too along with Streets of Rage 2's Never Return alive boss music which is one of the most awesome intimidating serious boss themes there is :)
Always count on Konami to rock that Genesis sound chip.
Just like with Castlevania Bloodline and Ninja Turtles
@@turntablethomas2584Hypersonic Heist has very well done OST for the Sega, even better than the SNES counterpart!

I miss oldschool boss tracks. They were the highlights of some games
Possibly my favorite boss music in any platformer for any system. Fantastic work by the Konami sound team here.
skwiskwig likewise
I agree too
Back when Konami cared about games and were creative
@@chaudspieler I 'member...
I still play this gem even yet. The HD Remake has nothing on this.
I was BITTERLY disappointed there wasn’t an awesome version of this theme in the remake…
anybody remember at the final boss when this song speed up and being like oh fuck
Play this on +1.25 to get the final boss theme
Shit gets real
When this music starts playing, shit just got real in a stage.
Probably the best boss theme in history
Hard to believe that it has been so long ago that my parents made the best mistake ever of getting my sister and I a sega genesis in the early 90's to which they included 2 games I remember very fondly. This one, and Cyborg Justice. My sister did not care much for gaming, but I enjoyed countless hours on this game.
Always think of the train boss, it fits the song the best especially with the way of it's extended arms waving in motion.
The slow build of dread and the imminent doom coming your way to be met with your strongest force in confrontation, building up in the desperation of this struggle, with a very quick defusal. rinse and repeat, until you here that sweet sweet victory music... or that konami code sound effect... uwah!
The year of 1994 was a good year for me, when I first played this game on the Sega genesis. Great memories. Thanks for the upload.
Scott Shamblin 1994 was an amazing year for us Gamers period.
such a great theme!!
still play this game sometimes...every single level is so much fun!
this was my fav genesis game beside Sonic
When you work retail and it's busy
Extremely relatable
Hands down the best Boss BGM EVER
Although "Never return alive" from streets of rage is good too hah
Yes to both!
So good the game trusted it to be the final phase(s) theme for the final boss with just a tempo increase!
" Good times hardcore mode :'(
Sparkster for Smash!! This is my favorite song in the game!
Juwan Campbell
Amen brother! A-fucking-men!
I would absolutely loose my mind if sparkster was announced for smash!!!! Omg plz happen!

Naruto Uzumaki hey, Snake made it back in Ultimate, as well as Simon and Richter Belmont from Castlevania, so maybe we could have a chance
Team Skull Grunt B It’s more to do with the popularity of the character, if anything. Sparkster isn’t well known outside of the 16 bit days.
TECHNO TECHNO lol this one of the best boss tracks ever and I loved this game to bits
the one thing i could say since i played this new at the age of 6 was man did the music hit HARD in this game, this game had BASS and then some whoever hasn't played rocket knight SHOULD GET TO IT.
Now I remember where my sick musical tastes come from
holy shit this song is absolutely incredible
Glad to see I'm not the only one who was head over heels for this excellent boss music! Right up there with Shiva fight in Streets of Rage 2 for me
It's funny how some of the music on the Genesis were better sounding than the Snes
yeah
The Genesis was better for electronic/techno music, while the SNES was better for orchestral music. Since I really like electronic music, the Genesis always sounded better to me.
Almost all of it was
you mean ALL the music

Whether the music for RKA or Streets of Rage boss fights, i miss the days with my megadrive and not a care in the world

October/November 2020 nostalgia.
Excellent! Great memories!
Most underrated platform we of all time! And the best boss music of course!
When you walk into your boss's office.
Kevin King ok boss what did I do this time? XD
My favorite boss is the giant mechanical fish and the lava. You had to keep moving on the platforms in order to avoid damage. The sfx together with it was just amazing.
MY workout piece of music, when I try to push past my limits !!!
This theme hit so hard it made me feel like I was fighting the final boss, but it was only the first level.
This and the murder wall theme from kid chameleon are my two favorite tracks from the sega genesis era.
Customary to Konami even though it predates Contra Hard Corps, this track has all the zany-ness of Hard Corps.
The game was awesome too bad I still didn't complete it but man the train boss and this music brought me here so many years.
Damn, I used to be able to play this game without losing a life once, and now since I haven't played in a long while, I can't even pass the first level without getting hit.
DJ Waffleston same bro... same... i wish i was that good again

Best boss music hands down. On a side note, Sparkster should have made a cameo in Sonic and the Black Knight.
