The various Penguin series, combining the timely with the timeless, represent a golden age of literacy. In our own time, Hollywood could benefit from reaching back several decades to rediscover some near forgotten but highly interesting story-telling ideas found in these volumes.

For sure although surely most avenues have been explored by now...

Mine have been collected over about thirty years. They are out there though and a collection can be had with a little patience.

@@JulesBurt100%. You said have said before that you collect what you love. A collection like yours shows love, patience and time. A collection is what you have found over time, and people want a collection right away.

Absolutely loved this! I have my own small collection of PMCs, but only very recent, the white spines onwards. I hadn't realised how long they had been around. I actually have those Gormenghast books (no slipcase sadly) and hadn't considered them part of the same line before, so they've been added to the PMC shelf. It's also made me consider that those books I have that have gone over to the Vintage imprint (my Graham Greenes, for example), if I look for older copies I'll be able to add them to my PMC collection as well. Great video!!!

Just discovered your channel today, Jules! (Wanted to see what the spines of the new crime/espionage series looked like, and hoped someone had made a video showing them off -- and here we are!) You have a lovely voice and a lovely book collection. And I completely agree with you: I'm more partial to the white spine/gray back PMC than the eau-de-nil ones, too. Best wishes from Chicago :)

Hello Rosemary, hoping to get to the windy city in the next few years. So pleased you've found my channel and that you enjoyed the video. I think Penguin have got off to a good start with the crime and espionage series, let's hope it continues. Enjoy the back catalogue 👍🙂

Beautiful .Classic . With some of my faves . Truth be told give me my papa ( Hemingway ) over Faulkner any day .Have you read any Faulkner and Joyce ? Easy read ? . The Titus fantasy is a great fantasy series , hard to come by and well worth the read . The Best of Penguins is a great collection . Never read High Wind In Jamica but i did see the movie with Anthony Quinn . Do you have the Wyndham short story collection " Consider Her Ways and orher Stories "Cool post cards
