I was in a relationship where I thought I was loved for who I truly was. But after a while, I started noticing something unsettling. He didn’t see me. I felt like I was a painting he hung on the wall, beautiful only in the way it reflected him. He loved my achievements, the way others talked about me, the way I looked like I had it all together but not the messy, imperfect, human parts of me. When I tried to share those parts, it was like he just… tuned out. When I first heard Laufey’s Goddess, I cried. Every lyric felt like it was peeling back the layers of how I’d been feeling.
