    Don’t cut corners when playing with electricity. Especially when it’s something for your kid. Never use electrical tape and call it a day. Heat shrink typing is a must. ALWAYS.

    Great informative video for thos DIY projects! One issue I see occasionally is that colors do not matter in some cheaper products. Always check for polarity of the tip to whichever wire and mark it just in case it is a non standard device.

    Wait, did I see that correctly? When you tested the wires, the wire with white dash marks was positive, but when you soldered the wires you connected the black wire to the one with white dashes. Isn't that opposite?

    The slash markings on the the welded pair wire also indicate positive.Nice hack.
    Thanks

    I think I'll use heat shrink tubing over those solder connections. It's easier and neater looking. Nice video!

  • @TomPatelGaming
    @TomPatelGaming 9 лет назад +1

    As mentioned before heatshrink tubing would be a lot better and neat looking. Tape always finds a way to unravel and get sticky. Your son has great taste in music! Metallica!!!!!!!

    • @antrigen1480
      @antrigen1480 8 лет назад

      +mrtomp | MrTP I agree. Twist the wires together in a butt splice instead of a pigtail before soldering and then finish off with 2 small heat shrinks 1 for each wire and one large one over the splices to hold it together and most folks would never even notice it was there.

    Hey Tampa Tec really good video thanks for sharing your knowledge. question what if the two wires weren't red &black on the plug side . How would you tell witch is positive and negative ?would it still work?

    • @theonetrueanthonylong1843
      @theonetrueanthonylong1843 2 года назад

      connect a voltmeter to them and see wether its positive or negative. If negative then the wire that the red lead is attached to is actually the negative polarity wire. Red goes to red, black goes to black.

    That 10V adapter would probably work. Check the schematic of the pedal - or just open up and look to see if it has a voltage regulator. It probably does. If so - 10V would be fine. 10V wall adapter is fairly rare. No gloves needed for a novice with anything low current and under 24V DC.

    One thing id add , if your gonna use cable like this on eg a Laptop cable and use eg a lead End from say a AC Router adapter be careful because some wire is regulated for even voltage distribution, i literally blew a motherboard years ago doing this

    I think that the polarity [positive and negative] depends on the plug hole[ port] on the device. So even though you wired up Positve and negative correctly from the charger to the plug, the plugs positve and negative may not be the same as whats on the device.

    • @nicolemisuraca317
      @nicolemisuraca317 5 лет назад

      Literally black is negative y'all's always is, red is always positive, most of the time, you get whites d black, white becomes positive black still negative but I deal with low voltage... I want his multi meter though lol

    You should cover your wires in hot glue first, then wrap them with tape. Much safer..

    you do know 9V batteries are about 110mAh right?

    • @drspyqwerty
      @drspyqwerty 5 лет назад +1

      I Think, the pedal will only draw what it needs, so as long as the charger can output more milli amps than what the pedal requires it will be okay. I think less milliamps will burn the charger out, but more miliamps doesn't matter?

    • @tomsguldbarrensen4823
      @tomsguldbarrensen4823 5 лет назад

      6 * 1.5v Alcaline = 9v but 6 * 1.2v NiMh =7.2v. If Alcaline batteries, you can use AAA(1200mAh), AA(2600mAh), C(6-8000mAh) or D(12-16000mAh) cells, but never use higher voltage than recommended. He would have to cut the wire anyway because the adaper got plus on the pin and the pedals don't.
