    Screw that! Sometimes we go for 5 - 10 years with no snow at all (well, where I live on the West coast), then we get half an inch for a day that melts by 10am but the country stops. In autumn the railways get caught out and surprised every year because for some reason unknown to mankind, the leaves fall off the trees onto the rails and stop the trains from running. In summer it gets hot and the rails warp and the trains stop running. In spring it gets windy....... you get the picture.

    I stayed in a flat with a guy named Steve, as I was watching him play Wolfenstein on his PC we heard what sounded like thunder, then all of a sudden we were in pitch blackness for 10 minutes, apparently it had snowed the night before & the snow had slid off the roof

    In England we're not really geared up for lots of snow because some winters we get hardly any and sometimes we might have a 'big' snowfall but it doesn't last more than a few days

      I agree - if it was more common, we'd have the necessary infrastructure to deal with it. Although more extreme weather may become more common, the way things are going!

    You two crack me up. My mate moved over a couple of years ago from south east England. He’s a proper stoner, he loves it, no more looking over your shoulder, we were all flat roofers , half 5 in the morning, you got that joint on the burn, I’ve got egg bacon sausage chips beans & two toast & a coffee going up town, London. All used to walk in the cafe & we’re all just sitting there thinking we should have stayed in bed but we were good at what we done so it didn’t really matter. Funny times though😂😂😂

    My cousin lives in Canada (Regina, I think). She told me once it was so cold that she went outside and left the door ajar for 30 or 40 seconds. In that time, enough ice had formed on the door edge and the door frame that she could no longer close the door properly because it wouldn’t fit anymore. She also told me that unprotected skin would get frost bitten in about a minute.
    Yep - no thanks.

    Nice reaction. The preamble was funny. Living in Florida, quite a bit of times we still had to go to school even though there was a weak tropical storm or a tropical wave coming my general way. One time it rained heavy for hours while in school. One of the classroom ceiling fell.

    Hi Llad and Brucy! 😄Herein the UK, it's illegal (not to mention risky!) to leave a running vehicle unattended, also to not fully clear not only ALL the windows on your car but the roof of the car if there is a significant amount on it - so many idiots try to drive with just a 'hole' cleared on the front screen!! At least we don't get your extreme cold temperatures (yet!), not like back in 17th-early 19th C, when the river Thames in London froze so hard, they used to hold 'Frost Fairs' on it! Last really bad one was in '62-63 - it started snowing on 26th Dec in the south - and snow lasted until March, even the sea froze around the coast in places!

    I live about 400 miles further north than North Bay Ontario, but in the UK. A few inches of settling snow each day for a few days can shut us down. Snow doesn't settle often enough for local councils to have any where near enough equipment. In the early '90s, we had almost a foot of snow (30cm) most in one day. People abandoned their cars on the main dual carriageway which links us to towns on either side. They made it difficult to plow the roads.
    When it started to thaw roads were still blocked but by the police trying to remove all the abandoned cars. I don't know if this was true, but a guy at work said at the time some people had put those big anti-theft locks on the steering wheels, with the steering wheel turned hard left or right. Chaos. Our weather forecast says it might drop to -1℃ tonight 😱
    Stay Warm. ☮
    G-Man-😎

      Hey G-Man! Winter of '78 to '79 was pretty bad too - at the time, was said to be the coldest since the 'Big Freeze' of '62-'63! I was at Uni then, home for Xmas - and had to walk into town to get to a New Years' Eve party as nothing was running (I lived in Luton then, the town centre was downhill from us, in a bit of a dip - neither buses nor taxis could get up the hill to where my parents live!) Great snowball fight in the park on the way home though!

    I live in England, the UK, so we don't get a lot of cold weather because of the Gulf Stream. I have worked in a Freezer warehouse, but that was only -30 degrees C. Damn cold though for me, your feel warm from working but your face freezes (moustache if you have one). You also need freezer boots, artic socks etc. It also sounds weird in a freezer, and you need special oils etc in your vehicles. I was going to ask whether that -40 was Centigrade or Fahrenheit but then seemed to remember that about -40 is when Fahrenheit and Centigrade are at the same point. Don't trees sometimes explode at that temperature because the sap in them expands them until they pop?

    • @bradlucy
      @bradlucy  Год назад +1

      I haven't seen any trees explode yet, but it is possible I guess.

    Put vaseline on the door seals, to stop freezing. There is a joke here. but for the life of me filled with a couple of biers I am too dumb to feed the punchline! Keep warm with cuddles.

    Here in the UK. When we get 50mm of snow we are advised not to travel. So if you phone into work saying you can't get in due to the snow. You still get paid. A few years ago when we had the "Beast from the East". We had more snow than usual. Where I was living at the time. Was at the bottom of a hill. It was very long. But it did get steeper the further up you went. One day I was following another car going up the hill. We were doing about 32kph. The car in front started to slow down. Then stop in the middle of the lane. causing me to stop. I was wondering why they did that. as they didn't give any indication they were going to stop. So I made sure there was enough room to get around them with out hitting the parked car on the other side of the road. Then drove around them. My car wasn't even four wheel drive. It was front wheel drive. I did put it in second gear. That's about the only use for a manual gearbox.
