The Cortex model in this is like a peek at what this game could have been with the right budget and development time. It could have been pretty good. I love how expressive and stretchy he is.
Some of the models here are great, they clearly put some effort in that area, unlike WOC's awful models. Sucks that this game will never be completed.
They had three years, and the game is littered with basic design flaws.

Tbh this game deserved a remake way more than CTR, it's a shame that the fans don't want anymore remakes since Twinsanity would be fucking stellar if it got a remake with all the cut content, Hell it'd probably be a new game at that point.
If they remade the game with all the cut content I don’t think people would be too upset as there would be enough differences to consider it its own game.
They'll probably have to remake the music though, which sucks because the a capella adds to the charm and weirdness

16:42 the reason for the nitro being an insta-kill is that several of the gems in the game are puzzles involving nitro. Instead of facetanking the nitro they want you to solve the puzzle, so they make it instakill you so that the player can’t just sacrifice aku and grab the gem without doing the platforming/puzzle. Problem is that instead of applying that property to the specific nitros or making a special looking nitro, they just made every nitro kill you despite having aku aku
I always thought maybe it's because Nitro blasts deal more damage than Aku's health value can take, like in some games when a shield takes more damage than it can handle, the rest of the damage gets taken off your character's health bar instead.
..I'm not even sure if that's how that works in this game, but I thought they might have cranked up the Nitro damage value by accident. Game is janky enough for it to be a possibility, I just find it funny that everyone has their own theories on this because it's such nonsense

I didn't remember ever playing this game. And then I heard Cortex say "Trust me... we're pals, right?" And it triggered a memory from my childhood of playing the demo on an old demo disc. And then when Cortex started getting stung by bees and screaming that activated even more of the memory. My dad was on night shift during that time so he was furious waking up to the sound of my sister and I playing that demo and being stuck on the part where Cortex is screaming and the TV was too loud and I can't remember what happened after the yelling.
After that your dad grabbed you by the hair and flung you into a bottomless void.

There are really basic things they didn't really bother with that just shows their incompetence: dead boss hitbox, not mapping audio to sound channel, forgetting they left the RGB on the ball, widely varied checkpoint distances, royalty free music, unskippable cutscenes, extremely lazy character design and plot, very slow jump animations, ugly character models, slow camera rotation, long death animations, weird diversions to traditional gameplay..
They thought they could get away with laziness because it had Crash on the cover

I heard somewhere that the reason you die with Aku Aku from explosives is so that people couldn’t skip any of the nitro puzzles in the game.
That's not a good solution.
If that's true then it's not a very good reason, Aku could've maybe warned the player about them when you first got near them or have nothing said and just let you take the hit so it teaches you how volatile Nitro is without instantly dying. You already start with Aku and get another Aku crate right when you spawn so why not have it that way.
I feel like that's how it was supposed to be but they might've coded it wrong or something, it almost looks as though Aku has a health meter and explosions do more damage than he can take so Crash takes the remainder of damage and dies. I highly doubt it's like that but they seemed to experiment alot with this game you never know what's going on behind the scene.
@@Vaguer_Weevil it’s definitely a conscious choice, you could cheese like half the gem puzzles if Aku Aku protected you from explosions

I had a very similar situation to Chris, I've always been a huge guy, but for some reason I was scared of a 4 foot midget back in secondary school even though I was already pretty much 6 foot. He kept baiting me and baiting me until one day I kicked the shit out of him. Only for everyone else in the class to turn on me and call me the bad guy for kicking his ass.
The moral of the story is most of the time in life you lose no matter what you do.

I had the same situation but opposite. Once I stood up the the huge bully we ended up becoming good friends. In fact people started to be afraid of me because he had my back. I’ll never forget when someone was messing with me and his towering form walked up behind me and said “you know if you fight him, you’re fighting ME too.” The other guy backed off.

If they got to finish the game it probably would've been a huge success.
When it works you can see that they had really big ideas for a game with huge open levels and large boss fights, it's just a shame that we'll never get to see what they wanted to do fully complete.
It's also possible that the 3D models weren't fully complete, like they could be late alpha models.

@@redhotheadvt I agree, but despite the flaws, I LOVED this game. It was challenging, had clever obstacles and boss fights. The music was almost always good, and it had a really dark scene. So, when you beat the bird twins there's a cutscene of evil crash literally RIPPING THEM APART AS HE EATS THEM ALIVE! You could even hear their screams and their flesh being torn. That didn't necessarily make the game any better, but it made evil Crash memorable and terrifying while presenting a very dark and unexpected surprise. When we first see him, he kinda comes out of nowhere and doesn't seem to have a purpose in the plot. Meanwhile this scene comes along and scares the @#&^ out of us when we least expect it. I was so traumatized when I saw that scene! But yeah, I don't think this game was that bad. It has a lot of problems yes, but the game has so much good things going for it that I was almost blind to the issues.

I owned a copy of this game like, maybe 8 years ago? The game actually advertised the ability to play as Nina Cortex and had a bunch of photos for the different boss fights. I always thought I was like, 2% into the game when I was at that god awful caterpillar level. Can't fucking believe I was almost half-way through it.
I am currently binge watching your complete series. Im up to this point. I mainly play Ark and that game sure soaks up time so your videos go by. I typically play games with sound off but videos in the background. Seeing the playlist theres still a sizable chunk i've gotta get through. But just know i will complete the playlist. in otherwords: I fuckin love your content dawg

i didnt have basic fine motor skills so i was very bad at this game.
i worked very very very hard on the chicken nitro segment, and when i finally completed it, i was expecting something amazing, like a luigi in sm64 secret

I’ve never played any Crash Bandicoot games but this one definitely seems the most creative in terms of ideas and aesthetic, at least in my opinion. I really enjoy the idea of you controlling both of them beating the fuck out of each other, and stuff like that
