Currently about to play it for the first time in YEARS. I have a download of it, but never realized that you go into custom game to open it up. THANK YOU SO MUCH
I love Vietcong game and also good take on VC:FA. Also, I highly recommend this documentary *'The Vietnam War'* (2017), it came out around Rising storm 2 release date and I was very sucked in, learned alot about the conflict and the South vietnam region. PAVN and US army vets' perspectives are included. And about Mafia 2... you should play Mafia 1 :D its the GOAT mafia game. Mafia 2 could have been the best mafia game, but due to the publisher pressure on the dev studio, lot of things were cut out and made shorter. :/ I'm czech so these 2 franchises were important to me during my childhood :D
I'll check out the documentary thanks for the suggestion, I played Mafia 1 as a kid, but id like to replay it, I watched some cut content videos of Mafia 2 and it makes me sad
Illusion Softworks was a brilliant co... Vietcong 1, Vietcong 2, Hidden & Dangerous, Hidden & Dangerous 2, Mafia, etc. So sad that they struggled to find a market, got swallowed by 2K and ultimately torn apart. They were the tip of the spear when it came to story-driven tactical shooters.
Vietcong was made by Pterodon, not by Illusion. And they didn't struggle to find a market. They were extremely successful, which is why 2K bought them. And the studio still exists to this day, as Hangar 13. It's just that most of the original developers have left.
I put about 1000 hours into this game back in the 2000's. VC2 was such a disappointment. I remember installing the game (from dvd...) and then restarting and then running.... And then.... This can't be right.
I honestly always thought it was "First Alpha" and now I have to rethink my entire life, that I could misread something like that for... 15 years? Just goes to show how much your brain can subconsciously change what you're looking at lol
Wow, I'm playing Vietcong right now on PC and loving it so far. So excited I have some more to play and it's already downloaded even haha! I love the map design in this game. Reminds me a lot of MOH Rising Sun's levels and maps
I loved Vietcong and always wanted to Play through Fist Alpha, but the Game would always Freeze and Crash at the exact same point so I never got to fully experience it. Good Video!
Even on single fire, the Sten was extremely inaccurate. The only way to make sure you never missed a shot is if you saved before every single one, which leads to situations where your only save gets botched and you have no way to recover from the situation you last saved in
if you liked vietcong, you will LOVE boiling point, its like vietcong with an open world, 250+ sidequests, airplanes, boats, cars, did i suggest this to you already? i cant remember lol
Thanks mayn, I'm playing through Vietcong on Vietnam difficulty and wanted to remember what Fist Alpha was like. Vietcong 2 was too weird to do replay.
if i remember correctly, the first mission of the ps2 version of Vietcong is the same as Fist Alpha, and so is the main character edit: not only the first, but some later missions are also the same (i.e: the temple mission where in the end the phantoms bomb it)
Purple Haze is just an extremely cut down version of Fist Alpha and the base game to make up for being on weaker hardware with some bonuses put in like the Halong Port mission, also you don't follow Douglas or Hawkins storywise in Purple Haze, only play as them, instead the game's told from the perspective of Defort talking about his experiences and the war after the end of the base game. One thing I do like about it is being able to use Fist Alpha weapons in base game missions which i wish they let you do on PC
Just as with the base game, while playing Fist Alpha I was on a constant rollercoaster between "fuck, this is gooooood" and "are you fucking kidding me?". I'd also go as far as to say that the stealthy last level is a misunderstood masterpiece. That doesn't mean that I could finish it - I ragequit after a few dozen tries - but I love the idea of inching your way forward while frantically scanning every leaf and rock to spot the hats of the enemies. This of course is being sabotaged by the telepathic AI and the worthless silenced weapons; a silenced M14 or Mosin would do wonders here. I think Vietcong is a game that deserves fan-made tweaking like no other. Definitely no remaster or reboot as modern day devs/publishers cannot afford such slow paced and detailed gameplay, because it would never be appreciated by the current generation. I'm not sure how moddable Vietcong is, but if someone were to fix the AI (of enemies and teammates alike) and maybe add infinite quicksaves as an extra, Vietcong would be a towering monolith among Vietnam themed games. Same thing with Hidden & Dangerous 2. If they would manage to add at least quicksaves, I'd love it to death. If you haven't played it, I highly recommend it as it's in many ways similar to Vietcong. Also you mentioned Hitman, so I recommend you to try Chameleon (a barely known Hitman-style Czech game using the engine of Mafia 1); and also Death To Spies 1 & 2 - the first one has a "motmod" which recreates the the game in the engine of the 2nd game.
The advertisement was a great bait and switch. Technically all they wrote was true and there was even a Vietnam mission, but not really what players expected.
One of my favorite multiplayer games back in the day right there. The player customization was awesome and you could really camouflage yourself. The gunplay kind of sucked and the weapon sight usage inaccurate as hell but was still really fun.
tantwo excellent taste my brudda. every game ubisoft publishes is just a far cry 3 clone. I genuinely believe that for the last 10 years they are incapable of making any game that isn't just a slight variation on far cry 3. far cry 2 was the chef's kiss though
Well what can I say, perhaps you should try far cry for sure, especially far cry 3 blood dragon. Btw thanks for the review, that's my childhood right there
I actually haven't played blood dragon but I know people like it lol, but I'm thinking of talking about the older farcry games, and it's all good, had fun playing it
Unlisted squad where you at?
Currently about to play it for the first time in YEARS. I have a download of it, but never realized that you go into custom game to open it up. THANK YOU SO MUCH
I really hope they make a modern iteration of Vietcong. Fingers crossed.
you and I both

@@Tantwo Me too, man :')
It’s legendary documentarian Ken Burn’s ‘The Vietnam War’ (2017). The greatest war documentary I’ve ever seen, and there are a lot out there

Man, I was there too… the stolen flag horn still haunts me to this day
thanks for the anticipated follow up! You did not let me down :-D
it's all good man, hope you enjoyed

MOH rising sun was the shit on PS2 growing up
I loved Vietcong and always wanted to Play through Fist Alpha, but the Game would always Freeze and Crash at the exact same point so I never got to fully experience it. Good Video!
yeah, the crash at the first mission, there are some fixes to find online
yeah it was a pain getting it to work, but glad I managed in the end, appreciate the kind words
We had this game for like 25 years and I didn't even know about the plus content.
hey at least you can relive going into this game without knowing anything
@@Tantwo sadly I can't cus the game wont start.
I have a feeling for the last mission you didn't use the sten on single fire mode.
Even on single fire, the Sten was extremely inaccurate. The only way to make sure you never missed a shot is if you saved before every single one, which leads to situations where your only save gets botched and you have no way to recover from the situation you last saved in
Id love to see live streams of vietcong
that's something i'd consider doing
I love the background music ! *cough* FitGirl *cough*
lmfao it's a good song and totally not related to anything with a questionable legal status

your a big enough channel to get Spanish bots in the comments. raidshadowlegends can't be far away now. achievement unlocked
can't wait to get paid to shill lmfao

where could I download the vietcong games? I used to have a legal copy and I really want to play it again

another great video 😏
