Yeah that ending really seems like something that would happen in Reno 911. Also the sudden animations during that last montage were really interesting and visually appealing IMO, definitely not what I expected out of a movie named “Game of Death”. The filming suddenly switching to first person for a moment or something similar to what you’d see in an Evil Dead movie is intriguing. I can’t say this is a movie I’d watch myself, but I think I need to look into it a little more to see who was involved.
I don't want to die but honestly killing 24 people to save my ass is a dick move. I would just say 'I love you' to my family and peace out on my own terms. On the bright side at least I get to find out if this is all a simulation or not
Yeah, same. If you had more time, maybe you could try to only target terrible people, although the ethics of that are still pretty questionable. But with the 5 minute time limit, you don't really have options. Plus, what if you couldn't find enough people and ran out of time at like 20 murders? You're still dead, and you are also responsible for the needless deaths of sooo many other innocent people.
Honestly after all this even with duress or trying to plead insanity because a spooky board game forced you. Your life is ruined either way you spend a large majority of your life in prison and what the hell are you gonna do when you get out? Group suicide is honestly the best option when you figure out the game is serious
Exactly...And even if you successfully do it then what? Life in prison? Extreme emotional trauma? A constant feeling of dread and guilt? Literally the whole game is pointless. If it was 1 murders per player it could have been more interesting. Would you kill another person to save your own life type of situation.
Both him and Cinema Summary tend to go for some fairly obscure B-films, most of which tend to be fairly poor movies. That being said, they both still do cover some more mainstream, good ones as well.
The worst thing about using a car to kill someone is the fact that, at the speed required to actually finish the deed, you will qreck your car entirely, making walking your only alternative. It would be much more efficient to use the car to commit a couple if drive bys with the gun gta san andreas style. After 2 or 3 kills, search for another car rinse and repeat. After you finish, keep moving towards the nearest border , switching cars every couple hundred miles. Your best bet is to leave your country. If you can leave a victim in the origional drive by vehicle with a couple of bullets in it and place it behind the wheel, and then place a second victim behind the car with entrails leaving to it, leaving the gun with the second body, you could fool the police into thinking you were killed by being run over. Then flee to mexico or canada and work on creating a new identity.
But won't police do finger print stuff to check if the dead body was actually you? Plus you leave behind your gun and several cars that would have your prints on their doors and steering wheels
I kinda feel for Tom & Beth here, they acted fast and managed to fulfil the conditions for all players' survival--in arguably the least bad way at that, targeting an extended care facility with most victims being at the end of their lives already--only for Ashley to punish them for it before killing Tyler and not even having the decency to commit suicide, instead accepting her victory
Sir, the degree to which you masterfully thought this out with (seemingly) no hesitation is both scary and respectable. You'd make an excellent vigilante. 10/10
I think Ashley knew what she was doing the entire time. It was shown in the start she was cheating on her boyfriend with someone else. It means she is fully capable of decivivng others long as it benefits her. I think when she killed the park ranger it was to keep Tyler on her side so she could take out Beth and Tom.
He was an insurance policy to keep around in case she got a headache, just like Tom was likely doing with all the other people in the car at the beginning. I think she had every intention of letting Tom and Beth finish the game for her while she sits around and can claim innocence later.
@@oblivionsa7973 Yeah, and she killed the sheriff too because she couldn't risk being detained in case Tom and Beth didn't keep up the kill count. I(n fact, she knew they weren't keeping up the count when Tyler's head started bulging. For all she knew, she had barely more than 5 minutes to live if she didn't get away and continue the killing.
It's honestly kind of ironic how basically everyone Ashley saved from being killed, she ended up killing herself. She stopped Tom from killing the ranger only to kill the ranger to save Tyler, who she then later killed to the end the game. Hell, had Tyler ran and barricaded himself while waiting out the clock Ashley might've been forced to kill Samantha herself, who she had saved from Beth. Granted I don't really think the run and barricade himself somewhere option really would've worked for Tyler, as far as I'm aware we have no confirmation that who will die due to running out of time will change without that person being dead. It's entirely possible that had they just run out the clock instead Tyler's head would've exploded anyways, only way running would work is if the target of the player execution changes each death (or it changes when the execution starts, regardless of if the execution is goes through or is interrupted by killing someone else), in which case it's a flip of the coin on who dies. Honestly if I was Tyler I would've just gone for the gun no matter what, sure running is a potential 50/50 chance of survival, but I'd rather not leave my fate up to a coin flip, especially since Ashley probably isn't trained to use a shotgun and through her killing Beth I'd know that shotgun is loaded with slugs. It's entirely possible that even if she gets a shot off while I go for the gun she wont have the accuracy for it to be fatal for certain, and in the time it'd take her to her to ready another round I'd likely have been able to get and fire the pistol, and since it's a pistol I can just unload the rest of the clip to account for low accuracy from not being firearm trained, having been potentially shot, and being in a disadvantageous position. Granted this all requires the gun to still be loaded after Beth's killing spree as Beth likely wasn't checking how much ammo she had left so it's entirely possible she was out when going to kill Samantha, in which case... fuck, police would enter and either detain Ashley or kill her if she tried to aim at them which probably wont count for the game as a player didn't make the kill, in the former case it's back to 50/50 and in the latter case I die. With the police basically right outside the room as well if Ashley gets off a non-fatal shot first they'd hear that the shotgun fired first and would know me killing her is in self defense, I'd probably be able to get out of any charges (or at least with a reduced sentence) as well since Tyler's only other kill would be running over the jogger which can easily be argued that it was forced to under duress (assuming the supernatural death game didn't already accomplish that, which probably wouldn't as it's kinda obvious no one believed it if Ashley used it as part of her defense considering it ended up being handed out at corrupt police Christmas) as Tom and Beth literally went on a killing spree and the pistol was Tom's originally (all of which easy to prove with the gun being registered to Tom, and fingerprints and/or security footage showing that the gun was mainly in Tom or Beth's possession). Hell if the ranger had a dash cam or something that would make it easier as that would put clear evidence on Tom having the gun at the time of the jogger's death, and would prove that I was completely uninvolved with the ranger's death as I was clearly incapacitated at the time with the game's player execution in progress. Granted still Second Degree Intentional Homicide unfortunately so not much of a reduced sentence, but hey at least it's only a single count of Second Degree Intentional Homicide rather than several counts of it like the others would get at minimum (yeah, even if Beth and Tom could argue they did their kill spree under duress, it'd still be several counts of Second Degree Intentional Homicide, so they'd get much longer than the minimum 60 years for a single count of it).
@@Animefan_7153-0 Basically the tl;dr of the second paragraph is that if I was Tyler I would've just gone for the pistol no matter what, Ashley isn't trained so likely wouldn't hit a fatal shot on a moving target and I'd probably reach the pistol before she can shoot again. Then killing her would clearly be self defense and the jogger was under duress, so only a single count of Second Degree Intentional Homicide (the best deal any of them could've gotten). While only known in hindsight, if Tyler ran instead Ashley would still be holding the shotgun when the police arrived and might've reflexively aimed at them and as they entered guns raised they would've likely killed Ashley before she could shoot, and that might not count as the final kill as it was done by the a third party, not a player or the game's player execution. Yes I recognize that for a tl;dr that was still fairly long.
The moment I heard the first 20 seconds (or so) of this clip, my immediate reaction is, "Why don't you kill 24 insects?" Also, that board was on top of the... original NES! That thing is awesome! I love how you used so much footage from other movies to illustrate ur points, that shows hard work to your videos cuz it takes a long time to edit that footage in
I think the fact that you didn't mention "Through no fault of the defendant" when talking about duress is an oversight. They chose to play the game thus by extension making the situation their fault yes?
There’s nothing in the game rules that says you have to die permanently. Maybe if they got some drugs like heroin and some narcan or a defibrillator they could overdose or come close to death, then be revived. Maybe that would count towards a death? 🧐
Even if they did that it was like 5 of them and they had 5 minutes to kill someone besides where would they even get the drugs from, in the background it only looked like that had liquor, and how would they even revive themselves there are a lot of factors to consider.
Useless plus who would inject the narcan if they were all overdosed in heroin chances are the person who is still alive would get there head obliterated
As much as the host of this channel makes it brutally clear that he’ll kill others without hesitation only if iit comes to no other option to live (which I understand) , him not suggesting - or even considering other options first BEFORE coming to a bust - that Ashley should kill anyone else in a building full of people she’s in, made me question the host’s mental.

Those sequels were TERRIBLE though. Especially part ZERO. And HYPERCUBE ignores the laws of time so that’s a next to impossible movie to do this kind of video on. I think that is why we don’t see him cover any sci-fi involving time travel. Too many variables.
You're right about running in a zig zag pattern being a bad idea that slows you down. But. Sudden movements to the sides are important for survival, not just 'not running in a straight line'.
I feel like if Tyler was able to kill Ashley he could have just gotten away entirely since she was obviously trying to kill him and his injuries could prove that. With the way Ashley just gave up and dropped to the ground it's almost like telling the troopers that you are guilty since you are being calm and collected, if Tyler was able to kill Ashley and then acted panicked and tried to seek comfort in the trooper arms while yelling "they were trying to kill me" I feel that would give an insanely obvious duress sign, on the other hand Ashley could have done the same if she would have killed him before the troopers arrived, and I'm not saying this would entirely be the case but since she is a girl she would most likely receive special treatment, but instead she just dropped to the ground in one of the most obvious shows of guilt a criminal could do.
I saw this movie so long ago I think on the Syfy or chiller channel. But I can never remember the name! Always fun to see movies like this appear on your account
Problematic take: statistically speaking it takes a lot longer for people to discover if street sex workers or people experiencing homelessness to be investigated if killed (most serial killers go for these first) so if the gang had any time they should try to solicit sex workers and murder them to not get caught. Cops are notorious for not really investigating the deaths of sex workers or homeless people as they are seen as a lower priority than other people, and often they lack support networks that would come looking for them/put any pressure on the policr to investigate
The problem was the lack of time, but you're absolutely right. I suspect most intelligent people could get away with killing a person no one cares about
A lot of handguns nowadays come with a spent casing in the box from the manufacturer. They get the ballistics and keep that spent bullet to keep it on file for murder cases comparisons

Its very dangerous to play these kind of games with smart people. Sure They will keep you around if you're useful but the moment you become a burden you're dead meat.
They could of let them kill the people at the center and they only would of had to kill the sheriff to keep Tyler alive and go on the run. The sheriff never called in their descriptions so they would of had enough time to get away before the other two were caught or killed by the police and the game would of been over only thing is they would need to completely ditch their old identities since the identification of the other friends bodies would make them going missing seem suspicious
I think Ashley could fight the charges. The first kill she did was under duress. Then she figured Tom and Beth were going on a killing spree. Beth she shot in defense then Tom tried attacking them for Beth’s death. Tyler took out Tom in self defense and she can say tyler then turned to attack her and the last shot was self defense. The child could be a witness about Beth’s death and could make the story possible. Hopefully the hospital didn’t have cameras.
I mean at the end of the day yes they killed people they had to and yes they’d definitely get into serious trouble with the police, but if they showed them the game and had them play it then. I know he said it but I wanted to really see it happening lol movies don’t ever get cool with it. I just didn’t want EVERYONE but the final girl to die
The same rules would apply for committing crimes under duress I suppose. Don't know enough about US law to say if duress excuses murder, but I'm sure there's plenty of jurisprudence on that. It's no different from "I had to kill them, or they were going to kill my family"
@@Grintock It would likely have to be a lot more than a threat in real life. Someone would like have to shoot your spouse then turn the gun on your kids, or start cutting off fingers or something. If you were videoed doing the killing, even under crazy duress, you'd still be found guilty. Video evidence has always swayed juries to vote guilty. Look at the Patty Hearst case. Kidnapped, raped, threatened with death, her personality reshaped by her captors, and she still went to prison for armed robbery. Why? The video evidence swayed the jury more than her emotional testimony.

The filming suddenly switching to first person for a moment or something similar to what you’d see in an Evil Dead movie is intriguing. I can’t say this is a movie I’d watch myself, but I think I need to look into it a little more to see who was involved.

I love the honesty at the start where you said you would be more curious the less you found out about it.
Out of all the videos I've seen in this series, I think this is the most "unbeatable" game.
ngl the animated sequence of Tom and Beth's killing spree was really well done
Yeah, I'm suuure that under such huge stress when your own life is in danger you'd have the moral high ground XD
I would go for 30 kd already gonna die from death sentence anyway
I love that Nerd Explains consistently introduces me to new horror films I’ve never heard of.
Both him and Cinema Summary tend to go for some fairly obscure B-films, most of which tend to be fairly poor movies. That being said, they both still do cover some more mainstream, good ones as well.
@@MilesEdgeworth129 yeah although cinema summary does some popular one like As the gods will and squid game

@@bulldogsalad3845 thank you!!
I love the amount of practical head explosions in this movie. Genuinely kick ass.
so true!!
Holy shit I found you in the wild
@@Peculiar_Poltergeist *hisses*
Granted still Second Degree Intentional Homicide unfortunately so not much of a reduced sentence, but hey at least it's only a single count of Second Degree Intentional Homicide rather than several counts of it like the others would get at minimum (yeah, even if Beth and Tom could argue they did their kill spree under duress, it'd still be several counts of Second Degree Intentional Homicide, so they'd get much longer than the minimum 60 years for a single count of it).
bro you REALLY think imma read all that?? I did.
Was this all in one take? How u do tha
You had me till the 2nd part im not gonna read all that
@@wynn4453 Science major and a minor creative writing hobby, I am used to writing a lot and can pretty easily just start writing and not stop.

2 years now asking for the CUBE sequels! he already started with the first one in the trio, so I know he can do it, and I know he's been seeing these comments every video! :)
Those sequels were TERRIBLE though. Especially part ZERO. And HYPERCUBE ignores the laws of time so that’s a next to impossible movie to do this kind of video on. I think that is why we don’t see him cover any sci-fi involving time travel. Too many variables.
God no not another math lesson
You're right about running in a zig zag pattern being a bad idea that slows you down. But. Sudden movements to the sides are important for survival, not just 'not running in a straight line'.
Damn, I remember seeing this movie. Glad it was covered.
I love that Ashley lives and the license plate of the pizza car is A5HL1V3

Problematic take: statistically speaking it takes a lot longer for people to discover if street sex workers or people experiencing homelessness to be investigated if killed (most serial killers go for these first) so if the gang had any time they should try to solicit sex workers and murder them to not get caught. Cops are notorious for not really investigating the deaths of sex workers or homeless people as they are seen as a lower priority than other people, and often they lack support networks that would come looking for them/put any pressure on the policr to investigate

15:09 "Comment bellow if you have a better idea of getting away with murder", thats interesting...
I personally would have killed myself.
Suggestion: a How to Beat the Infected in "Crossed". I know it's not a movie (and it'll probably never be), but it'd be cool to see how you'd face an apocalypse where the zombies can use guns and plan ambushes
