  • In this video we have a look at a complete production workflow, starting with the lighting plan via programming up to the visualization. We will see how GDTF and MVR help us to bring the data from our plan directly into the lighting control system.

MVR is great and I use it all the time in the process of being an LD. But why didn’t MA spend more time and effort on the inbuilt MA3D. Ok it’s fine for quick and dirty pre programming. But what I would find useful without having to buy a separate visualiser. Is to be able to produce visuals for clients from MA3 that are professional enough. I know you can take screen shots in MA3. But I find beam quality and actual key light onto people in MA3D is poor quality and I would never show a client a visual from MA3D.
Yes I understand that running a full visualiser within a console isn’t a great idea for obvious reasons. However running it on a dedicated PC alongside a console would be great.

      Hey sonivaioboy,
thanks a lot for your feedback. We improve our internal 3D window in every release, e.g. in the upcoming release we will see some improvements in visualising beams, iris and zoom attributes.
But as you say it is an integrated 3D within our software. So of course dedicated visualisers at some points have some more room for improved functionalities, quality settings, etc. Our first priority is the lighting control and therefore we have to take care of many different aspects in our software.
But we totally agree that there are some things we can definitely work on and we will keep on going with that.

      Hi Bendt,
in this case we worked with Vectorworks. So with the Spotlight plugin you get these tools to plan your lighting rigg, fixtures, etc….
