The MP4 12C, 650S and 675LT are super series not sport series; they are the predecessors of the 720S. The sport series only includes the 570 and its variants (540C , 570GT and 600LT).
Come on, man! Do a little research before doing your review. The 650s and 675LT were both super series cars. The 650s was the predecessor to the 720s and the 675LT was a track variant of the 650s. But both were classified as super series.
Such a great video. The camera angles and editing really come together on this one. I feel like I'm canyon carving at my desk. And the audio didn't break.
You think the pricing of the options are high? Okay, I'll admit it! It sure is. But, try adding just a handful of options on even the entry-level Ferrari, the 488 GTB. I'm sure it will cost you an extra $100k...EASILY!
And either of those two will get you a pre-owned supercar fr the 90's/early 00's or .... a new Porsche with extra funds to put towards mods (if you're not gunning for a GT2 RS)
McLaren options are plentiful and expensive, but indeed cheaper than Ferrari. A well equipped 720S runs about $320k if you forego most visual carbon fiber. With everything in carbon fiber they top out around $400k.
@@Kovalser Well, sure. But even at $400k, it is well worth it, in my opinion. I, mean, the car delivers bistering performance that is pretty much on par with hypercars. Yet it is comfortable and practical as a daily driver. Not to mention it has doors that open like the Multi-million dollar LaFerrari and P1, as well as unique design.
No, they don't break down "all the time." Like pretty much every model built by any and every car manufacturer, there are some 720s owners who will experience issues with their car, as well as those who will not. And I will also say that some McLaren 720s owners (such as Phil Dixon) seem to having an agenda in releasing videos complaining of issues with their car. I'm not saying they can't inform the public of issues with their car. But it's how they go about doing so that leads me to believe they have an agenda. For example, Phil acknowledged that there are 720s owners who aren't having problems with their car. And he also stated that McLaren builds great performance cars, especially for a young company. So then, why does he state in the video "do not buy a McLaren," especially since the 720s is just one model in McLaren's line-up of cars? And when you look at Phil's facial expression on the clickbait (and at moments in the video) he appear as though he was told by doctors that he is dying of cancer. I mean, who does that? Why can't he simply inform his viewing/listening audience of the issues with his car, and then leave it up to them to decide?
When I read "performance pack," I damn well expect it to be focused around power output, especially for that price. Alcantara + carbon fiber = performance pack. Sure, McLaren, whatever you say.
You said the Mac weighs 3,161 pounds and that it's 157 pounds lighter than the GT3, but that's incorrect. The 991.2 GT3 with PDK weighs 3,153 pounds and with a manual weighs 3,115.
The GT3 being referenced is likely with optional larger fuel cell. I looked up several tests here in US. GT3 with all fluids are around 3250-3260 with pdk. MT tested both, surprising the manual was slightly heavier for some odd reason at 3270. Edmunds and Car & Driver have videos up showing the weights I used.
Jeff, would you say the Ferrari Testarossa was the first supercar which was daily drivable? I seem to remember the journalists back in the day saying that.
hey bro you do awsome car reveiws, dont change a thing that you do! i wish i could play in that range of cars but im stuck with my heavily moded 2017 sti, with 538 hp and badass suspention upgrades!
Amazing car but despite all its performance its not as exciting or engaging as the 675LT which is the best car McLaren have made to date. Basically the 675LT is a P1 without the electrics and a stripped out lightweight race car for the road. If you like your cars raw and hardcore the 675LT is still the one to have and its also LIMITED to just 500/500 coupe/spiders worldwide which means its mega rare and exclusive. In comparison the 720S is a Great GT cruiser but being a regular unlimited production car its already trading well below the 2 year old 675LT prices. Want the best McLaren that's ultra rare and will hold onto its value possibly even going up long term then you are better off buying the 675LTand join the worldwide exclusive club
Could I hack off 5 grand to live without the shitty alcantera? Lol Fyi you may have ran out of verbiage, but you still did just as good of a job as any of the others, kind of a Clarkson without the bullshit, or like the 720s.
Yeah perfection for us normal people... I once heard from whittese jr that he dosent like the 720s and that its overrated... Well what do u expect from someone who was spoiled by hypercars like his dads veyron agera rs1 and all the chirons and paganis he was in and the cars that they have on order like a regera a chiron and 2 aventadors svjs...
Stopped listening when you said 650/ 675lt were sports series. They're the super series. 600LT is the LT variant of the 570s which is the sports series. Don't make videos if you don't know what you're talking about....
Ive noticed that everyone that owns a 720 or test drives one says "Wow its so Fast" & "its the fastest car for the money" & how it beats everything on the road but my question is "How does it make you feel" ??...im sure they will all say "FAST", I remember years ago watching "Fifth Gear's" 1st test drive of the 458 spider & the women driver got so emotional that she shed a tear! I rather have a car like that, than the fastest car in the world that makes Dyson Vacuum sounds...
Ahh, come on, dude, I'd totally agree with regards the 540/570/650 but the 720 is one of the most distinctive cars on the road. It looks like nothing else, including other McLarens.
The super series has had three fundamentally different designs in a handful of years (12c, 650s, 720s). Can you say the same about any series from Ferrari, Lambo or Porsche?
i find it weird everyone suddenly love this car all of a sudden on RUclips.. i loved this car from day one

When i heard "675LT is sport series", "Hmm, really? No way!"
Yep! I was like well he got that all wrong lol
wrong. The MP4 12C was the entry level mclaren. Not super series.
Is the 720s a sport type you lost me?
cool story bro

The only guy who understands mclaren engineering. They don’t care bout that in your face and sound. Fuck that. Straight to performance.
Styling is amazing
I'm excited to see this video. And it's not even Tuesday. Lol
That car is worth 7 of my current car. That's amazing
That would be my all time favorite supercar
Its second after the cgt for me . That said all around drivability and not trying to kill me sense its first. I cant wait to see the lt version.
At 2:45 you wrong, this car dont has stabilizer bars, has a neumatic suspension.
About perfection, some customers are angry for lack of reliability...
Knocked that out of the park.
Great review Jeff! We as the audience feel the insanity of this new mclaren...
very professional yet entertaining review... now lets get a really crazy/stupid yet fucking awesome one please!

I'd buy a 720S over any 911 (GT2RS including), anyday. If I can't afford a new 720s, I'd simply get a used one.

Correction. The 650s and 675LT aren't classified as entry-level McLarens. They are part of the super series.
Great video!
Don’t these things break down all the time? Perfection huh?

Long Tail version of the 720s coming

Alcantara + carbon fiber = performance pack. Sure, McLaren, whatever you say.
less weight . would increase performance
That's literally the performance pack for any other car. It's not always more power output.
Did you make up the different McLaren series or absolutely zero research? Literally missed the mark by Mile.
When did you leave autobytel? Good review!
Didn't leave Autobytel... I started Hooniverse.com back in 2009, that's where most of my work resides. Autobytel is a nice side gig.
The fuel tank?? Long travels?
I stopped after 2 mins as everything he had said up to that point was wrong.
Stephen Gibson Why did you comment then. Move on bitch
Raw af.

Jeff, would you say the Ferrari Testarossa was the first supercar which was daily drivable? I seem to remember the journalists back in the day saying that.
Never driven one but I’m sure it’s one of the early examples of such a thing. The Gallardo helped a lot too for a slightly more modern example maybe
Porsche 959 maybe?
Gallardo.. isnt daily driving bad for the clutch?
The Testarossa was as wide as a bus. Was only legal on most roads with a “wide load” plaque and a police escort. Not a great “daily driver”.
Nice!
Are they sold out yet or can i still buy one - with a LOTTO win?
Oh, new Binky* video out, BTW...
*Those who know, know - those that don't should!

I thought you did a great job
where did you film this video, also Mclaren says on the manual do not drink in that car.
Maybe they shouldn’t put a cup holder in it...
Shot off Ortega Highway in Southern California
The Hooniverse thanks your review is great by the way, I will take my 720 s to Ortega highway to see how it feels .

this car is very ugly. even if I have unlimited money I would never buy this ugly piece of shit
the interior's material looks like velvet, or suede, or something. it looks terrible.
720 is the HEAT! BUT, McLaren cars all look the same. There's no differential exterior except the badge # and engine specs
