Great song awesome rendition! On a side note, Rubin Carter was dead to rights guilty. He did commit the triple homicide and all of the evidence proved it. The song, while a musical gem, is factually upside down. Do a little research. For example, and this is just the tip of the iceberg, Rubin was never the "number one contender". His highest ranking was 6th in the world and at the time of his arrest, he was not even in the top ten. His career was actually in rapid decline at that point. And when the cops pulled him over "in another part of town", the traffic stop was just a few miles away from the murder scene. Sadly, just about every word in the song is factually incorrect. Like the part about Carter being humble, he is on record as relishing the way he used to make his opponents suffer. In fact, he even once bragged about punching a horse and knocking the poor thing out. The guy was a real thug who even beat the woman who helped spring him from prison. And the movie with Denzell Washinton? Another rewriting of history. Rubin Carter was a murderer who got a bunch of hippies on his side and even later sued the state of New Jersey and won/stole a huge settlement from the state, IE tax payers
He later retracted the whole song and said something along the lines of “It was wrong to write a song about something I didn’t know anything about, I didn’t know if he was guilty or not”
@@banacek8675 the proofs weren't enough. The one who said that He was guilty changed idea 4 or 5 times . The experts changed opinion. The first time He was immediately left free.....we actually can't say if He was guilty or not. But probably He wasn't
