I think it is beautiful to know your family has been speaking the same language for so, so long. My family has been speaking Danish for about the same length as your has spoken Occitan, cheers!
See what's hilarious is that this song is actually about the Crown, the nobility, and the church taxing the peasants to the point they were left with no earnings to speak of. The wolf (crown), the fox (nobility), and the church (hare). The man lowered his weapon before the wolf and the fox, refusing to rebel, and falling victim to them in the end to an endless cycle.
"Socialist"? I can't imagine what sort of gymnastics it took to reach that conclusion It's about the country getting far too involved in the business of ordinary people, not about wanting to become its nameless starving slave Kind of exactly the opposite
K. Forsythe depends which way you look at it. Lots of folk traditions and popular uprisings, revolutions and revolutionaries shared a lot of values with socialism. Take Thomas Paine, for example. Socialism can be practiced at a very local level with no state involvement, don't confuse it with examples of so called state communism. That's like saying all Germans were Nazis and all Russians were Stalinists.
Caleb Bouriaque not too much has changed then. Replace the crown with the state and the nobility with politicians and the same thing is continuing to happen today
People have been putting on animal costumes and partying for a long time! The church hated it of course. Too pagan for them. But they couldn't stop the wolf, the fox, and the hare.🐺🦊🐰

If you think of this song it is the only overtly openly political song from the middle ages
Not really overt, is it?
mais pourquoi tout le monde parle anglais sous une chanson occitane ? xD
Le plus hilarant c'est les commentaires russes imo, ils sortent d'où? x) contente que le monde aime par contre, je me plaindrai pas

Musically, I like this interpretation, but it misses the social significance of the original completely.
