I am SO happy that you guys have done this episode. I Love real amp sounds, analog pedals, etc. But because of my living arrangements, I'm mainly a modeler guy under headphones. Man this is just AWESOME!! Heartfelt thank you for taking the time to indulge in a side of the industry you respect, but usually don't use. Have a Blessed weekend guys!
You nailed it Wadey. I'm living in an Apartment and don't even own an amp but seriously considering one of the UA devices now. I would imagine i'm not the only one.
I have a 68' Fender Bassman (which I never tire of bragging about, sorry in advance) and live in a South Korea shoebox apartment. I run it into a Two Tones loader/cab sim and voila, life is grand. Sure, I don't have the "real" speaker breakup (which does keep me up at nights), but aside from that I really enjoy my tube amp without bugging my neighbors. I run it into my ROKIT5 Speakers or headphones and it gets her done.
My wife simply can’t believe your channel. She can’t fathom that I have 12 grit pedals and swear they are all really different. The way you talk about tone and volume, at times like it’s meaningful, is so good. Blows her mind

56 years old and I’ve always been using Vox amps. That’s my sound. And of course I played other amps as well, but I always come back to the AC30. However, I can’t use them anymore and certainly not in my bedroom sized home studio. So a couple of years ago I bought the Line6 PRO just after it came on the market. I thought it would make my life easier, having so many amps and effects and all of that. First thing I did: I ran through the presets and I wasn’t impressed. Then I started to search for the AC30 simulation and it didn’t sound anything like it. When UA came with the Ruby it made so much sense to me. Up until then I had been using AC30’s almost exclusively and I had a pretty large collection of wonderful pedals that I used to create every sound I had ever used. That’s when I knew I would sell the Line6 and I did. I used it twice and I just hated the idea of having to work with menus and needing to change countless of parameters only to try to get this thing to sound as close as possible to an AC30. It felt so good to plug my pedalboard into the Ruby, which is just like an AC30 that fits in the palm of my hands. Again, it just makes sense. And no, it won’t replace that feeling of an old AC30TB with a pair of Celestion T1088 Silver Alnico speakers. I can’t see, let alone feel the speakers going back and forth forcing the torn speaker cloth to move like a banner in a stormy night. I can’t smell the tubes, I can’t see them glow through the grills, I can’t feel the heat coming from them, so no it isn’t as sexy as the real deal. But when I sit there playing my guitar in a room filled with galaxy lights and lava lamps and I hear how the sound of the Ruby sits in the mix…., I feel happy! Can I ask for more? 😊
I am glad you guys took another run at these! I am such a tube & amp tone guy that I inadvertently taught myself (basic) electronic engineering just to learn how to design and modify my own custom design (based on an AB763, naturally). Like, I’m deep in these woods. Tube rolling, speaker swapping, output transformer changing… real deep. I just got a UAFX Ruby and I am floored. Either it or the Dream (or maybe the Woodrow?) will absolutely become my gig rig. I’m running it into a cheap 8” powered PA speaker (like, the cheapest sold) just for monitoring and it’s better than it has any right to be… I have tried and discarded many other sims, but this is the first one I will keep. I can only imagine investing in a better quality PA speaker would improve things even further. My amp will stay safe and sound at home now.
I have all 4. I friggin LOVE them. Works perfect for my needs. Home studio, recording all the time, and way better user experience than a plugin (imho). I love UA and what they’re doing! I’ve had tons of amps, tried so many other modelers and software… this is the approach that works best for me. Huge fan.
Another great episode guys. I'm 61 and have been playing for 50 years. Mostly at church these days and use midi especially with different tempos. It really helps switching through songs. Cheers guys!
Dan, I almost shed tears when you mentioned Atari. My dearly departed older brother had the Atari Falcon digital audio PC, but we used a Tascam 8-track cassette recorder to record a few albums. I wrote a bunch of midi songs on my Atari ST way back when. I set up my own Cubase Windows PC in '96 and wrote/recorded more stuff while working more than full time in human services. Lost a lot of sleep back then. It was so exciting discovering what could be done on a PC.
So excited for this episode! I just recently got the Dream 65 and LOVE it! My wife can attest that I am a tube snob and really appreciate the work put into all of the UAFX amp pedals. I’m hoping I can eventually collect them all! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!😆
Soooo packed with all the good stuff! When Dan played the blue Strat, I put on my headphones. Both of you demoed the daylights of the UA devices. I learned a ton. I took MIDI Engineering in the '90s in College. Now 71 and wrong kind of Neurodivergent to manage all it can do. I'll do a little MIDI with the new keyboard and lessons I'm taking. And I am building a UA fund next to the Strymon Fund for future purchases. Epic Episode!!
UA wow!!. was inspiring up until 35:45 and was compiling a Xmas wish list, but then Mick with his 70 Strat and the Super Bass setting WOW!! Looks like i'll be getting that Lion!
Currently in recovery after returning from a digital modelling nightmare via the Fender TMP…. The relationship started off well, but I ultimately became frustrated with the elephant in the room that was the digital fidelity I can never unhear with these digital modellers. I feel like I can hear it here with these pedals. Returned to my Blackstar Amped 2 for my preferred flyrig, which despite still having digital aspects just seems to sound and react more like a ‘real’ amp and has amp like UI, with proper ‘knobs’ to tweak on the fly. still love UA for bringing the Ox box out and bringing my valve amps alive at home. P.S, I cleansed my soul by trading the TMP in for a very beautiful Martin 00-18 😊🎸🙏
I have a Victoria 35310 tweed Bandmaster and played a Woodrow when we did some silent rehearsals one time, it sounded great and felt like an amp, very impressed. Takes fuzz well too.
@@tobbebergman7583 I use OSX and Linux. Most stuff is on Linux now but I'm still using OSX for audio. Soon I won't be. Bitwig works on Linux for example. I was on a UA forum thread where Linux was being discussed. Very dismissive attitude from UA. If you don't want to support anything Linux just be polite about it. Apparently Bitwig is not a serious DAW despite being one of the best and i've been through all of them. Then apparently there are a tons of Bluetooth issues on their pedals. For god's sake just allow USB control if you can't sort this out. I don't like this company at all. Very arrogant.
Bought it. Fantastic. Sounds 100% real. For fun, I dimed all the knobs EVH style in "brown" mode. It sounded just like VH 1. And when you hear the LION in the mix with other LION tracks you'll be stunned at the separation of the gtrs. Go buy it. The Ruby is also fantastic.
This was really impressive! Great to see Tore on TPS again, as well. About MIDI: When I played out - and if I play out again, I would not go more than a few months before having MIDI. That was for the straw pool, Mick. Having said that though: I could can get a lot done w/o MIDI thanks to Dan & Co's QMX 6 and an expression pedal on the Halo. Great show and great tones today!
Tore is such a humble genius. Love all his work going back to a lot of the TC Electronic stuff he worked on. The Lion and Ruby sounded great! I've got the Heavenly reverb pedal on my board and don't see it leaving any time soon!
About time you did something like this. And there are more amp sims out there. Yeah, I get it, you prefer a loud amp. For me, this was the most interesting and valuable video you this year. BTW, I love the chapters you did. Excellent job, on all levels. Cheers from Germany!
During this week's VCQ, Mick mentioned how you can get away with more gain at higher volumes (what a glorious phenomenon!). It's taken me months to understand that balance after moving from a modeler! I love getting to play out and hear my amp the way it's meant to be heard, but the ease of having your at-home tones sound so similar to what you hear on stage at gig volume is a great strength of modelers!
I finally finished watching this episode. Same as you guys and the Ruby, I was putting a Woodrow into the front of my amp, not the effects loop. I had to go and buy a second hand amp so I actually had one with an effects loop😂 but it was so good I took the Woodrow off EBay and decided to keep it. I'll also admit that Neil Young is my all time favourite artist, Mick's channelling sealed the deal. Keep up the great work!
Just had a conversation with a fellow guitarist the other day about using 2 of the UA amp pedals together like we would with 2 guitar amps, and told him I was going to put in the comments in one of your videos asking you two to try doing that. Thank you for reading my mind and dedicating part of your show to this request. ;)
@@jdl2180 Yes. I am a little bit spoiled......its a good job if you can get it!!! I feel like I know Dan and Mick like brothers after all these episodes !
No excuses for it but I haven't been watching much with headphones; did this time. What incredibly beautiful sound quality. Really well done. On the subject of MIDI, I don't and might even let the excuse of "too complicated" masquerade as logical prejudice. The truth might be my hands are more than full as it is. On the other hand, my brilliant friend and accomplished pedal steel player devised a MIDI oriented pair of pedals, switchable on the fly live, to turn the pedal steel into a Hammond B3 and it's near impossible to tell it isn't an actual Hammond. He isn't a pedal guy, either, and frowns disapprovingly if I don't go straight from the guitar into the amp.
❤ Loved this episode. At this stage in life I am not in the position of being able to purchase all of the physical amps I would like and have dabbled in simulation but never fully got it. Now I can look at it again through a that pedal show lense and possibly come up with some decent tones. Excellent job again lads.
What a great episode! I like the conversation that it isn’t just tube amps or digital modeling, but instead it’s just another tool. I have tube amps but I also bought the Ruby for silent practice for when my kids are asleep and I want to play guitar. The Ruby was the missing piece to my rig, it’s simple to use, it’s simple to tweak, and I use a midi/loop switcher, so when I am playing through an amp, I just switch the loop off. The Ruby replaced my HX stomp that I was using for amp modeling, as I found the Ruby was just that polished sound I was looking for!
Dan and Mick, thank you for doing this kind of episode with digital modelers! I don’t think they will ever replace the feel or the sound in the room of a real 3D sound of an amp but I still think modelers are amazing sounding and practical solutions for everyday playing. Hope to see more vids like this on the channel. Cheers!
I agree with Mick - defo. bought the Lion & Ruby because of the simple UI. Can't deal with menu diving, give me knobs fnarr, fnarr, and I'm a happy camper!
Love your shows, they're great. Greatings form Spain. Valve amps for ever, but, my current recording rig is a Scarlett - a UA Dream 65 - (Now) a POD Express - and a Boss GE-7 Equalizer (this is my Holy Grail) - and Guitar; and it's amazing. I do jazz boxes, teles, SGs, and Jazzmasters and it rocks with them all.
This video inspired me to finally try whether PRE AMP OUT and PWR AMP IN on my old Peavey work as effects send and return. They do! Huzzah! ...now to buy something to put between them.
Just had my first warranty issue with a UA Volt 476 . I did a fair bit of research and my problem was pretty much the ONLY issue like it I could find in the history of the product. I had full support and I have been completely looked after. For this reason alone I will be buying more UA Stuff because I feel like I will always be supported if I have any issues.
Excellent show. I’m in the Mick camp where I like to have my pedals show me where they are set. I do use an expression pedal in an Andy Timmons way where I control the mix of my ARDX20 and Collider (reverb side) that are in parallel with a Wetter Box. It helps when I kick in gain because that drives the wet effects and it can get to be too much. It’s also cool to go from slight delay/reverb to full on which sounds huge for solos. Thanks for the show!
I have the lion and the Dream 65 , they’re excellent. However, having heard the lion here thru the mesa power amp and cabs, I’m leaning towards that setup, it sounds wonderful .
Thanks guys. I don't use MIDI much for guitar. I have an HX Stomp on my board along other pedals (going into tube amps). I do use the HX Stomp in a similar way that you would use MIDI. A pedal where I may want to change the settings frequently, I use the HX Stomp version along other physical pedals.
Thanks leg-end’s as always a great show, and great sounds. The Woodrow sounded ripping. I have been really interested in the Lion, I like how these pedals give a produced version of those classic amp sounds. I’m just worried that I wouldn’t get that same buzz that I do playing through my two amps. If they ever release a small form factor version with just the super lead sound I’ll be in!
the moment dan pulled out the SG and tuned to drop D I was internally screaming SOUNDGARDEN before he played the riff. that was the most magical sound all day, easily.
I used the Lion at a show last night after years of hauling heads and cabs around. During my sound check I heard a gentleman in the balcony say “yep, that’s rock and roll.” At the end of the set I was packed up and off in two minutes. I did still have to help the other guitarist haul his 4X12 out to the van.
We need a Dumble pedal. The real deal like the Lion. An SRV setting or Eric Johnson setting like the Brown sound on the Lion would be icing on the cake. Just do it. Take my money now.
A recent post on TGP suggests something is in the works - hopefully it’s a Dumble. Here it is. “UA filed for trademarks on a few more names earlier this month: Mental Enigmatic Knuckles “Mental” is listed as a guitar pedal. “Enigmatic” and “knuckles,” interestingly, are listed a guitar effects pedals and downloadable software. There was a fourth name registered-“Verve Analog Machines”-but that is listed as “tape machine emulation software plug-in for use with audio equipment.” Mental, enigmatic, and knuckles would certainly be a new direction in naming for UA. Any guesses what they could possibly represent?”
@@jeffwheeler3504 I have no idea what those names could be, but it sounds like they are looking forward and not in the past. I bet these are some Metal amps, like a Mesa or Soldano or Marshal 900/Jubilee. Doesn't really make me think Dumble.
Recently got me a Lion & a Ruby, run them directly into PA for gigs & into Studio Monitors at home. I've been playing valve amps at cranked proper volumes for nearly 4 decades, and need to lean on the sound and get the trouser flap ;-) ...initially sceptical, I have to admit IMHO the tone & feel of these pedals at all volumes is truly stupendous. They're great and my 'real' amps are now getting dusty.
David, what happens if the PA speakers are in front of you for gigs, or do you use IEMs or an extra cab? I’m still using tube amps, and have been finding stealthy ways to create small wet/dry rigs for small club gigs. But I have a UA Dream and have been considering a Lion or Ruby to create an emergency wet/dry rig to go straight into a PA (via a DISO+). Appreciate your insights.
@@onenotesolo256Depends on the Gig. Smaller pub/coffee-shop type gigs PA is a Bose L1 array style, either located behind us or slightly to one side, and no real issues with feedback. Larger Gigs either IEM's or wedge monitor at my feet pointing up at me. Not quite the same as a roaring 4 x 12 at your back granted, but opportunity for that these days is sadly increasingly rare. Hope that helps
Finally an episode involving modelers. TPS I know that modelers are not your bailiwick, but seeing how you approach it and/or give your opinions on how the modelers feels or sound is invaluable insight for us beginners and hobbyists. It would be nice if you would dedicate one show a month to modelers or the budget friendly side of music gear. I would love to see y’all kick the tires on the new gen 3 Boss Katana head. Great show!!!! Cheers!
I’m really happy to see an episode with UAFX sim amp as I’m using Woodrow and Dream in a wet/dry situation inspired by your previous videos (especially the video « use two amps but make one dirty »). I’m using the gigrig wetter box to run them in parallel. But I’m still not sure of two things : the preset to use on each sim amp, and the feeling of it on a PA speaker (I’m using the canvas stereo as a DI box).
I gotta say as a looooong term subscriber, those stand up there as some of the best tones I’ve heard and special shout out to Mick for some extra tasty riffage that really highlighted those tweed tones. And appreciate the candid deep dive and discussion. However, very disturbed to read so many comments about UA pedal malfunctions and sub-par customer service. 🤔
Do all their amp modeler pedals have exactly the same latency? And is the latency a fixed amount, or is it dynamic depending on playing, settings, firmware update, pedal age, etc? If you’re trying to use two of their amp modeler pedals in parallel or wet/dry, the latency of both pedals needs to be exactly the same all the time. If it’s not, you’re going to have phase issues all over the place.
I really liked the Ruby normal channel dimes with the (treble) boost on full and loved the clean sound of the brilliant channel. Unfortunately, I need an in between grit sound as well, which I achieved with several overdrive pedals. Happily gigged with the pedal for a year or so. Once the Friedman IR-D got released that was it for me. Even simpler to use, what you see is what you get and no presets as you can channel switch on the pedal, although I am aware it does allow for midi switching if so desired). It also offers an effects loop which I was missing. I know the UAFX pedals faithfully reproduce the legendary amps and they themselves didn’t have effects loops, but one would be nice to have at least the option for.
I've been using MIDI for over decade now on my pedalboard in one form or another.... I started using it to control a bypass looper, then it expanded to bringing up presets in some pedals along with the bypass looper. Now I'm just using a small MIDI controller to bring up presets in my HX One so I can have easy access to a few effects without having to use the HX one to scroll through the menu...
My current rig has evolved to something very similar to this. I play my UA pedals through the Victory v4 amps I have. They essentially become extra channels on the pedal amps. I can plug them into a speaker and get the connection and vibe, or I can run them through the onboard Two Notes IR direct out, and I have a headphone jack if needed. It's a bit of kit to put together, but I play more with a consistent sound and am happier with my setup than I've ever been. All In with two v4 amps, and 2 UA pre-amp pedals it's about the same cost as 2 low/mid cost Tube amps. I get TPS Wet/Dry on a pedalboard, pure happiness.
The problem with the MIDI question is whether I use MIDI (yes) is different from if I have ever needed MIDI to set my guitar amp (no). When I want MIDI for tremolo I use a pedal, but the DRRI tremolo is just set. Great episode and great to see Tore, such an ambassador of tone.
I remember when these got announced at UA, first thing I messaged one of my guitarist colleagues at the time was “Where’s the MIDI if they want to bring this up against Strymon? No MIDI, not for me” My colleague was never into MIDI but saw where I was coming from. Hopefully there’s something in the works for both the UAFX and OX Box line up. I know not many people use MIDI but I think it’s an essential tool when offering an amp on the board solution that deserves to utilise all its power and functionality on the fly.
Great episode. It just gets more better. I saw a video of Tom Bukovac demonstrating and explaining the benefit of using a graphic equalizer to shape guitar tone. He was using a Boss GE-7. Maybe...... you guys could do a show doing a deep dive on this subject. Fan forever!
I have pretty much all of the bigger UA pedals, and absolutely love them all. Stellar sounds! However, I have to agree with Dan. It would be killer to have access to even 3 or 4 different presets. In a cover band setting and for my use case, they are not quite versatile enough with regards to navigating different sounds for different songs. Also, big user of midi here!
Please do an episode on the Quad Cortex. Maybe with Rabea? I'd love to hear what you think about the sounds and feel. It's the first time I'm actually enjoying it a lot. It's no valve amp, but it sounds and feels really good to me, especially for in ear and at home use.
Great show!!!! I just got into digital. I play through a tweed deluxe and Princeton usually. It’s often “too loud”. I decided to buy a tonex and the fender fr cab. The last time I had band practice, I forgot I wasn’t using a tube amp. No midi for me… not yet. 😂. Being a teacher, I greatly appreciate you being open to revisiting non analog options from time to time.
Great episode. You guys finally seem to understand how to get digital amp simulations to sound and feel great. And coincidently, its the same way you get a tube amp to sound and feel great - turn it up :) Of course digital has various benefits (size, weight, cost, and volume control). Tor made a very good point about how including MIDI would lead to the need for a display OR would be difficult to use. Strymon has gone in the direction of including MIDI (in the Iridium for example) without a display, and it was really a drag to use. Then a guy that I know created some mobile phone apps to manage presets in the various Strymon pedals, and it was a game changer. This suggests 2 things - Tor is right, and mobile apps could be a decent compromise. And perhaps all you really need on the pedal is a 3 digit display telling you which preset is active. But since the whole point is to select presets from MIDI, your MIDI controller will handle "knowing which preset you are on or want to select".
I have been using the the ruby and dream together for about a year. Going on tour in a couple of weeks using it in a wet dry setup. Just realised i could go wet dry wet. Sounds like some fun
I want to add that even though I do have to practice and sometimes record via the DAW - but from my board into a clever preamp arrangement that helps things out and lets me hit the DAW in stereo. It is fun, it is close, it's ok - and only 3ms or less latency (still feels good under the fingers). But I intend on saving up my fun vouchers for the Lion or the Dream! When I do get round to playing out, I'd use my amp dry and let the stereo stuff happen with the Lion to the desk. I am a bit older than you lads and did my late 80's - 90's with a Mesa Studio Preamp - so learned how to use those record outs into the desk (mostly for the cleaner sounds) with the stereo rig miked on stage. Epic Luc/Dan Huff kind of world! LOL
Seriously looked at a UA Lion for home recording (with UA Luna)...but ultimately went with a Boss IR-200 for some extra flexibility. Still use a small Marshall SL5 single EL34 1x12 for home for playing - the practice space has a 100w SS Orange that I wish had valves 😩
Incredible sounds !! Good job Tore! Not many people can teach the old dogs some new tricks. Currently I use a pedal board and an amp (or two) when playing at church. I am looking for the least expensive, least confusing way of replacing my amp(s) and going direct to FOH. But I don't see myself using MIDI (yet).
Would love to see you get the opportunity to compare the UA pedals (utilizing the built in dedicated cab IRs) going into FRFR cabs like the Fender Tonemaster FR-10/FR-12.
Thanks for making this video and asking the MIDI question. We NEED MIDI on these pedals. The sound is just too good, but they're very frustrating when you have a MIDI board. I get the "we wanted to make simple products" argument, but the smaller Strymon v2 pedals don't have screens, and the presets are only available through MIDI, and they work great. I have a Del-Verb because of the sound, but it's really frustrating to know it could be so much better with MIDI, all I'd ever need basically.
Nice, love those pedals, SOund great and theres so many sounds in just turning the knos a little, IT really feels like you can dial in the tones you want, it feels alive. Ive had som wow moments. ANd ihavent even tried them the 100% right way. Something i havent find out yet is, Can I buy the four of them and run them together cable wise and still have the 4 cable method working If You understand the question. I would like a board with the acess to those 4 amps but only for the most use one of the time but have the convience to change which ever I Want to immediately, and still hook them up so there is an effect loop going on with other pedals. I want them in front of my amp. Maybe I should buy a amp cabinet only, Dont know if I could run them directly in in this instance. So a Board Withthe amps on, and the a board With all the other effects is my plan. Of course maybe same board. 4 Amp on top of the board, then four effects donwboard.
Tore is great! Him and James are real assets to UA! 😊 I am however a user of midi… I can understand the argument that was put over about not having it but I don’t think there’s any digital pedals at that price point that don’t have it other than UA pedals, which is a shame because they sound exceptional. I had the Starlight but ended up getting rid. I use an expression pedal to ramp up the mix and other parts when needed which is my main use of midi. I also want to be able to change from one sound to the next using all of my effects pedals. It’s a shame because if you added this then there wouldn’t really be anything you couldn’t do with it 👍
Apologies to the TPS audience, it appears my buying an 4-track recorder and cassettes has causes a rip in the analogue digital continuum, resulting in TPS going digital modelling.
The guitar straight in to that poweramp... thats my favourite guitartone ever on the show.

Damn, Mick’s Les Paul through the Woodrow was incredible, great sound! And amazing playing as always. Excelent video!
I'm a recent convert to the Lion. I'm in love. The simplicity and in fact lack of other features / connections is a plus for me.
Aaah that Woodrow/Lion Parallel tone is glorious ! Cheers to you guys !
I like it when "shred" Dan comes to play.
UA wow!!. was inspiring up until 35:45 and was compiling a Xmas wish list, but then Mick with his 70 Strat and the Super Bass setting WOW!! Looks like i'll be getting that Lion!
Danke!
I hope the valve/tube amp never dies.
Unfortunately. They frequently do😂
Records are still around for those in the know....tube amps will be the same.
History has showed Tube amps will stay around. Human beings and their bad backs will not.
Tube amps rule imo. Nice to have the ua pedal options.
UA makes great stuff but they REALLY need to listen to their customers.
Unfortunately they don't !
What I really learned is that I need a GIGRIG in my life . Happy Anniversary Dan many many more.
Cheers mate 🤓🙏
Bought it.
Thank you for reading my mind and dedicating part of your show to this request. ;)
Friday happiness, get to work, start the TPS show, drink coffee in a TPS mug....ahhhh!!
Come on! (In my Dan voice)! Yessss
That's what you do at work?😂
@@jdl2180 Yes. I am a little bit spoiled......its a good job if you can get it!!! I feel like I know Dan and Mick like brothers after all these episodes !
@@RichardPribbernow
That's pretty well how I feel, with exception of maybe sons than brothers.. lol
Jeez, what do you do for a living? Review youtube videos? 🤣
Great to see Tore on our screens again 👏 🤘
TORE RULES !! Those Toneprint videos were always pleasing.!
The day I thought would never come, has come!
New TPS shirt:
It does help to know how things work.
Another one: “Give me some clean noise, Dan!
I wish That Pedal Show was filmed 90s sitcom style in front of a live studio audience. And I wish I could be there.
Cheers!
Killer tones! Especially those parallel combinations!
I agree with Mick - defo. bought the Lion & Ruby because of the simple UI.
Can't deal with menu diving, give me knobs fnarr, fnarr, and I'm a happy camper!
great tones all around !
I own several of these and they sound great . I haven’t had any issues.
Awesome Scott, cheers mate 🤓🙏
I have the lion and the Dream 65 , they’re excellent.
However, having heard the lion here thru the mesa power amp and cabs, I’m leaning towards that setup, it sounds wonderful .
Thanks guys. I don't use MIDI much for guitar. I have an HX Stomp on my board along other pedals (going into tube amps). I do use the HX Stomp in a similar way that you would use MIDI. A pedal where I may want to change the settings frequently, I use the HX Stomp version along other physical pedals.
As always a great show!!
Dont tell my boss but I chose Friday as my WFH day so I can watch TPS and play some riffs during lunch break😉
Same!
I've emailed them 😬
Atta boy!!
Great episode, I thank you, the blue brings out the shred in you, I play midi too!
I bought the Ruby solely because of Tore. And YES!! I AM a guitar player, Mick said so!!
Timing couldn't be better : I received my Ruby yesterday and will be gigging it tonight!
Universal Audio poached both Tore AND Santiago... two of the best in the biz!
the moment dan pulled out the SG and tuned to drop D I was internally screaming SOUNDGARDEN before he played the riff. that was the most magical sound all day, easily.
Here it is. “UA filed for trademarks on a few more names earlier this month:
Mental
Enigmatic
Knuckles
“Mental” is listed as a guitar pedal. “Enigmatic” and “knuckles,” interestingly, are listed a guitar effects pedals and downloadable software.
There was a fourth name registered-“Verve Analog Machines”-but that is listed as “tape machine emulation software plug-in for use with audio equipment.”
Mental, enigmatic, and knuckles would certainly be a new direction in naming for UA.
@@jeffwheeler3504
Enigmatic : '82 OVERDRIVE SPECIAL AMP (Dumble)
Knuckles : '92 REV F DUAL REC AMPLIFIER (Mesa Boogie)
Really enjoyed this one chaps - super interesting. On my way to a gig tonight, taking my Vox AC30, but also have a Ruby in my gig bag just in case!
Recently got me a Lion & a Ruby, run them directly into PA for gigs & into Studio Monitors at home.
I've been playing valve amps at cranked proper volumes for nearly 4 decades, and need to lean on the sound and get the trouser flap ;-)
...initially sceptical, I have to admit IMHO the tone & feel of these pedals at all volumes is truly stupendous.
Cheers!
In terms of morning routines, this is the highlight on my week. That's not a lament. I'm proud of it.
I have the UAFX set…. Epic pedals. Great vid.
Awesome episode as always, love when Tore gets to stop by and show some new UA products.
Wow , hands down the best overdrive tone on the show with Dan going into the Lion with his SG. Crazy times .
Great episode - thank you for doing this!
Love Tore! Great content guys!
No MIDI, not for me”
My colleague was never into MIDI but saw where I was coming from.
For the poll - I use MIDI & G3 Atom in a Wet, Dry setup.
52 year old (newish) player, but fortunate to have funding and love great tone & toys.
🤓🙌🙏
I’m still looking for a tremolo/vibrato pedal and the Ruby sounded interesting.
Would love to see you get the opportunity to compare the UA pedals (utilizing the built in dedicated cab IRs) going into FRFR cabs like the Fender Tonemaster FR-10/FR-12.
12:02 what a riff! You turned me on to that song forever ago on that andertons video busking with Danish Pete. Killer sounds
I am however a user of midi…
I can understand the argument that was put over about not having it but I don’t think there’s any digital pedals at that price point that don’t have it other than UA pedals, which is a shame because they sound exceptional. I had the Starlight but ended up getting rid. I use an expression pedal to ramp up the mix and other parts when needed which is my main use of midi. I also want to be able to change from one sound to the next using all of my effects pedals. It’s a shame because if you added this then there wouldn’t really be anything you couldn’t do with it 👍
Just bought a Ruby.
Thanks a lot TPS. 😅
What vintage trouble song was that? 12:05
You Better Believe It. Cheers!
Apologies to the TPS audience, it appears my buying an 4-track recorder and cassettes has causes a rip in the analogue digital continuum, resulting in TPS going digital modelling.
It's a temporary glitch. :0)
Digital butterflies on the other side of the world...etc
It would be cool to see these pedals for bass guitar. I hope they will come out with some. Love the channel.
The legend returns!
