Seriously can't be understated. Most battle passes make you feel like you have to grind or you'll miss out. Another reason why GSG is the best game studio out there.
Super animal royale does it in a more satisfying way imo. You can have up to two passes active at the same time, gaining double progression which cuts down the grind. And all passes get put in the archive so you can pick which set of rewards to start working on.
Please, even if it has to be an overclock, add something that lets the microwave gun ding after it finishes firing. It would be so absolutely hillarious.
im going to say this: you guys are fucking amazing for adding the season pass items to the main loot pool. no more FOMO means i can play the silly dwarf game casually without fear of losing out on cool items. Rock and stone guys.
I still have FOMO now, because I'm realizing I need to infuse all my blank cores NOW before the update, because now is a higher chance of getting overclocks I want for the primary weapons, while after the update the pool of random selection will be so large, it'll take forever to get decent overclocks for my fav weapon :'(

Exactly. If they had locked content behind the DLC, people would have resented it. This way it's a "Hey, if you feel this new round of content deserves it; please give us some more money. We'll give you these cool skins for your trouble" which is a MUCH better model.

as someone else put it, they give you skins for literally buying the game if you jsut play enough. theres no pay to win. theres no paying for a single skin. the game already comes with a HUGE amount of skins as is, a lot of them being really good! neon band is so good for being literally free with the game. gotta love this company god damnit.

I literally cannot stop myself from buying the DLC solely to provide continued support even if I never equip any of it. @@canadiancanucklehead8310 If you want to "cheat" without actually cheating in regards to grinding for the lootbug lover, exit drg, sent your clock ahead 24 hours, go back in game and the next seasonal objectives will be ready for you. That's what I did. You still have to put in the effort to complete the missions and get the scrip/preformance points, but it's just so you don't have to wait like 24 hours.

Yeah! Ghost Ship has the best implementation of a battlepass AND cosmetics better than any AAA title! There's no fear of missing out, when everything is gonna stay! Well, maybe some anniversary hats, but that's neither here nor there!

I'm getting excited by the overclocks of the weapons, I can only imagine that it can come, MEGA LASER ? EXPLOSIVE ARROWS? EXPLOSIVE MICROWAVE BEAMS ? MINING COIL GUN ? just dreaming
After years of avoiding multiplayer games, jumping into this game with a few friends a few months ago was the best decision I ever made. Can't believe how great this game is in just about every aspect. Super excited for the new weapons and cosmetic system. I'm always happy to have new minerals to loot goblin over.
This game was already the best I've ever played when it came to progression and monetization and now it just got even better! The battle pass/progression tree content from season 1 staying, the new challenge specifically for this season, more choice in the forge, more data cell bonuses, phazyonite (was worried about a premium currency for a second there but nope!), AND THEN ALL THE AMAZING NEW CONTENT ON TOP OF THAT. I love this game.
The DLC will be an instant buy, even though I won't use it. You deserve every penny. Ghost Ship Games is a shining beam of light in the greedy darkness of the video game industry. Please never change devs. Rock and Stone to the bone!
Not gonna lie, I was hoping they would explore another element of the story like the ommoran or the korlok or literally anything other than rivals again. But still excited to see what they're cooking up, ghost ship never misses
I think it's good they finish the rival arc before exploring the next thing which I hope will be some evolved boss down in the depths of hoxxes like a queen dreadnought or queen mactera or something massive. I wonder if they finish the rival arc with the xynarch charge suckers or something like them take control of all the rival machinery or something

Yeah we need to be wary of this, it could be a great thing but quickly spiral out of control if someone with manipulative intentions messes with it. All good games and studios have the potential to fall to greed, no matter who they are. Let's just hope this is GSG being pro-consumer and not a stepping stone into slowly more unacceptable business practices over time.
I'm so glad that the stuff we're bringing back from our missions is actually getting used for further operations, makes the whole world of DRG seem more interlocked in my opinion
That's a detail I really enjoy. Hopefully season 3 we will get to see some repurposed rival tech. Maybe new suport or traversal tools. My ideas would be: - Alternate sentry gun: Modded burst turret or sniper turret for the engineer. New unique upgrade paths/features. - Alternate flare gun: Shedder drone tooled for lighting caves for the scout. Could work similar to the bosco drone "light here" feature. - Alternate shield generator: Mini patrol bot for the gunner. Reactive "active defense" tool towards projectiles within the area, ie a bosco like bot that shoots projectiles (or enemies like swarmers) mid flight. Or possibly a single target overshield generator with short duration but a few more charges. - Alternate satchel charge: Data cell scrambler bomb that causes status effects instead of a straight up boom. Ghost Ship could run with the theme of the previous season always being the weapon/tool theme for the next season. That would spark a lot of hype and theory crafting in the community.
I wish other games had this level of engagement and consumer practice. Happy to purchase the DLC and I'm glad I picked up the deluxe pack in the first place
The additional way to buy cosmetics in the shop worried me, but those worries were stopped straight away, an in game salvageable currency specifically for cosmetics is amazing, and gives new players without massive end game resources to get cool cosmetics as they level up without shooting their upgrade game in the foot, that is amazing

It's amazing the amount of loyalty you guys have built up in this community. I buy every cosmetic DLC even if I have no interest in the items just because I feel you deserve the money, and I know others do as well. It's like a weird reverse psychology. Make people pay for content, and they'll complain to kingdom come. But, make it totally optional and give 99% of things for free, and the only thing they'll complain about is that they want to give you EVEN MORE money.

When I saw the phazyonite addition I knee-jerk reacted to it and said "oh no, they finally added a pay to progress mechanic". Really should've had more faith in these guys, they're literally stacking options upon options to progress at our pace. Rock and fucking stone.
Feels like they added it for the situations where every upgrade or purchase you want needs Enor Pearls, or Umanite etc... so you end up stuck cause you only have 50. This is the perfect counter.

I swear to god I want a Rave Machine overclock for the laser. Turns it into a random scatterbeam laser light show.

After years of avoiding multiplayer games, jumping into this game with a few friends a few months ago was the best decision I ever made. Can't believe how great this game is in just about every aspect. Super excited for the new weapons and cosmetic system. I'm always happy to have new minerals to loot goblin over.
This game was already the best I've ever played when it came to progression and monetization and now it just got even better! The battle pass/progression tree content from season 1 staying, the new challenge specifically for this season, more choice in the forge, more data cell bonuses, phazyonite (was worried about a premium currency for a second there but nope!), AND THEN ALL THE AMAZING NEW CONTENT ON TOP OF THAT. I love this game.
Other game devs really could learn some lesson from GSG

The most metal thing I've seen is how engie literally turned a chunk of ommoran into a literal beam cannon just like the beamers, ROCK AND STONE!

It will be very interesting to try out new overclocks for new weapons and make cool new builds

Not gonna lie, I was hoping they would explore another element of the story like the ommoran or the korlok or literally anything other than rivals again. But still excited to see what they're cooking up, ghost ship never misses

Honestly I think it’s good that they are doing this. Season 1 was explicitly said to be the rivals prospecting so it’s only natural it would escalate
I think it's good they finish the rival arc before exploring the next thing which I hope will be some evolved boss down in the depths of hoxxes like a queen dreadnought or queen mactera or something massive. I wonder if they finish the rival arc with the xynarch charge suckers or something like them take control of all the rival machinery or something

The co-op on this game is so damn fun. One of the best games we had on plus me and my son love this game and it’s so much fun and rewarding without mtx. We cannot wait for the new season.

Yeah we need to be wary of this, it could be a great thing but quickly spiral out of control if someone with manipulative intentions messes with it. All good games and studios have the potential to fall to greed, no matter who they are. Let's just hope this is GSG being pro-consumer and not a stepping stone into slowly more unacceptable business practices over time.

I'm so glad that the stuff we're bringing back from our missions is actually getting used for further operations, makes the whole world of DRG seem more interlocked in my opinion
That's a detail I really enjoy.
Hopefully season 3 we will get to see some repurposed rival tech. Maybe new suport or traversal tools.
My ideas would be:
- Alternate sentry gun: Modded burst turret or sniper turret for the engineer. New unique upgrade paths/features.
- Alternate flare gun: Shedder drone tooled for lighting caves for the scout. Could work similar to the bosco drone "light here" feature.
- Alternate shield generator: Mini patrol bot for the gunner. Reactive "active defense" tool towards projectiles within the area, ie a bosco like bot that shoots projectiles (or enemies like swarmers) mid flight. Or possibly a single target overshield generator with short duration but a few more charges.
- Alternate satchel charge: Data cell scrambler bomb that causes status effects instead of a straight up boom.
Ghost Ship could run with the theme of the previous season always being the weapon/tool theme for the next season. That would spark a lot of hype and theory crafting in the community.
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how not only is the pass free, but nothing is actually lost if you don't finish it. So cool 😎

The additional way to buy cosmetics in the shop worried me, but those worries were stopped straight away, an in game salvageable currency specifically for cosmetics is amazing, and gives new players without massive end game resources to get cool cosmetics as they level up without shooting their upgrade game in the foot, that is amazing
I really appreciate that the hacks are getting a little more complex. Hacking in the new season event looks really cool

Love the new changes to the OC and cosmetic choices in the Forge, the ability to buy cosmetics with other currencies, and as always the fact that if you miss any item from Season 1, that you'll be able to find them in cargo crates and helmets. It's amazing the amount of loyalty you guys have built up in this community. I buy every cosmetic DLC even if I have no interest in the items just because I feel you deserve the money, and I know others do as well. It's like a weird reverse psychology. Make people pay for content, and they'll complain to kingdom come. But, make it totally optional and give 99% of things for free, and the only thing they'll complain about is that they want to give you EVEN MORE money.

Very happy to hear about the change to forge mastery. As a casual player I get few cores, so big sad when I get a cosmetic I don't really like. Any choice is good and increases player agency.

I was about to rush through the Performance Pass in an attempt to not miss out on anything, but watching this really made my day. I don't want to burn myself out before the new update. Thank you for always providing extremely high quality and engaging updates.
When I saw the phazyonite addition I knee-jerk reacted to it and said "oh no, they finally added a pay to progress mechanic". Really should've had more faith in these guys, they're literally stacking options upon options to progress at our pace. Rock and fucking stone.
Feels like they added it for the situations where every upgrade or purchase you want needs Enor Pearls, or Umanite etc... so you end up stuck cause you only have 50. This is the perfect counter.
