Hey man.. I'm the animator on the game.. Thanks for making this video, it's great fun, and it has now been shared with the whole team ❤ Keep up the good work - Rock and Stone Brother!
The Rock And Stone hotkey really makes everyone so much friendlier. Every time I drop into a game already in progress I get a Rock And Stone from people in the lobby
Yea because in this game nobody has time to write "hey look at this candy cane looking mofo" cos they will get killed, but its easy to just press V and be friends
It also helps that this game really focuses on co-operation, with the game practically screaming "WORK TOGETHER OR YOU ARE ALL GOING TO DIE" on some mission types like Elimination, especially on higher Haz levels
When I customize my dwarfs I try to keep their circumstances in mind, for instance when running a driller with the crspr I keep the beard so that he doesn't light it on fire and compensate with a more extravagant moustache. Now a driller with the cryo cannon is probably gonna be cold fairly often so give em an ushanka and the biggest bushiest facial hair.
I just play pirate dorf driller. Nutbeard, scourge of the seven drillers' unions. Snatcher of lunches and planter of C4 charges. I don't troll with said charges by blasting them, but I like to make folks panic by throwing them at their feet sometimes before then defusing 'em.
i wish you had mentioned the laser pointer, it literally lets you communicate perfectly without a mic. the amount of stuff that you can ping is super useful in telling your team what you think should go down
My most favorite thing is the lines for the dwarves, especially of course just the tone of voice adds their own unique personality. Scout feels like a young bubbly adventurer who takes his job seriously but likes to have fun at least during missions, gunner is like your fun carefree uncle that has a lot of made up or fun stories to share about how he took out like 6 oppressors at once with only his wit, 500 rounds of ammo in his minigun and only his bulldog having full ammo. ( insert I am heavy weapons guy meme ) Engineer is like the helpful mature one that doesn’t mind his job too much and is not really afraid after fighting for so long. He really really enjoys fighting beside everyone else whenever there’s a mission to do. Don’t really know about driller than I can think of him being that he likes the fact he’s working with a team who relies on him as he does with them and enjoys the teamwork that comes with the mission and fights themselves, likes being the “ this is the guy that can do it and he’s proud to be that guy for them.”
@@fastasfuckboiiii7134 that's more of a meme than anything else tbh. I know very few drillers who hurt teammates on purpose without it being a joke they know they can fix with revives or nearby healing
Bold of you to say DRG is better than Dwarf Fortress. Well they both are superb, just incomparable. Would love to see a DF reference in DRG. "Strike the earth!" "I need alcohol to get through the working day." "I've forgotten about this beast!" Or a random missing sock down in the caves would all work as rare easter eggs.
One of my favorite traditions that I’ve developed with my DRG group is redesigning our characters every time we fail a mission, considering the dwarves that failed the mission as KIA. This forces us to continually redesign our characters but it also allows us to get emotionally attached to the way our character looks just long enough for it to be devastating when we inevitably lose them a few missions down the road
Dwarves have always been the best fantasy race despite what my elf loving wife thinks. They were definitely a big reason this game caught my eye initially. Dwarves in space? What the hell could be cooler than that? The answer is: nothing.

I just love how GsG even implemented some references into the dwarves voice line. I’ve heard my dwarf say “look at me, I’m stony rock” while grinding on a pipeline in on site refining, obviously a reference to the tony hawk skating games. I’ve also heard my dwarf say “I believe in Steve” when I tamed a grunt, which I thought was a nice nod to jacksepticeye’s all the way song

4:50 Voice lines were... kinda new at the time. As in, looking at a Medic and pressing the combo for "MEDIC!" gives a specific line for that interaction. Same with player and "SPY!" is always a contextual difference. Some of them have actual importance, but a lot of them are also just for fun. Jeers and cheers dont really do anything except reflecting your mood. It was just a thing of old when voice lines where something to be experimented with. Saying "No" just wasnt in the cards, but looking at blizzactivisions reputation, that's not exactly surprising. On the points of cosmetic, I just would like to a) the flares. LGBT light glowsticks just would be fun. and b) echoing my friend: Lady dwarves. Dont worry, they wouldnt look too much different. According to Terry Pratchett, they'd maybe wear a dress or wearing a bow in their beard, if they feel especially feminine that day.
Another very rock and stone video, good job! I love these dives into the game and it's systems, especially with your take on them. Edit: any clues as to next topic you plan to cover?
What really ties up DRG is the community. One of the few games where joining up with randoms is a blast 90% of the time. Be it Cozy low hazard or intense haz4-5 runs, there's always room for some dwarfy silliness. As long as you shoot right, use your traversal tools and kill bugs, you're a good dwarf.

I honestly cannot picture this game without rock and stone. Almost every single one of my dives is filled with dwarves shouting together in celebration over every tiny victory.
I gave my dwarves some stories starting out. My scout was a thrill-seeking ex-ranger who was constantly looking for his next adrenaline rush, so he went to DRG to slay bugs, fling himself through the air, and generally have the time of his life. The gunner is an ex-military gent from a desert planet, he’s following a friend of his to DRG to see what he’s been up to the past few decades… turns out that friend became the driller, and went a little crazy after seeing some of the crap that happens on Hoxxes. So the gunner is trying to work with his friend to maybe get him some help and get him to retire. The engineer is a college student in massive debt, but he still wants to work on stuff, so he got a contract with DRG so he could pay his bills, and continue making cool stuff.
