    I remember this game from childhood, George Johnson was unbelievable in the 4th quarter with his defense and rebounding!

    Al Attles took a page out of his former coach, Cal Irvin. Cal used bench system of using all 12 players to beat a starting 5 when he coached at North Carolina A&T.

    Love it. Love Rick Barry, George "Flyswatter" Johnson and that Warrior team.

    Bulls should've had the west won (and the ring) in '75

    Crazy thing is this was George Johnson’s 3rd year and he barely even started even when they traded Nate Thurmond with Bull’s Clifford Ray he started over George even though we see how good of a rim protector he was

    Before the season the Bulls traded Clifford Ray to Golden State for an aging Nate Thurmond in order to beef up the Center position. The Bulls had been rotating 3 centers prior to the trade. Not only was Thurmond a bust but Clifford Ray was part of the Golden State team that swept Washington 4-0 in the 1975 finals.

    I wish this match was the Final but at the time Chicago was put on the West conference. Wtf NBA was thinking!?

    • @RamiAbboud1
      @RamiAbboud1 Год назад +2

      They were only eighteen or nineteen teams in the league and most of the teams in the league were out east. The Bulls were in the Western conference because they were a western team relative to the rest of the league

    Funny how perception of time can mess with ya. If I had been shown this footage in 1996 when the Jazz lost in the WCF to the Sonics I would have been in amazement at how old and looooooooooooong ago this NBA footage was. Wowwwwww.....20 years ago. Look how young Sloan was. And look......he can actually run and jump....wowwwwwwwww. Now ANOTHER 20 years have passed between 1996 and now 2017. And it feels like the blink of an eye. Ya hear all the time that life is short.....well turns out it REALLY is. Sloan not so long ago was once a dark haired man playin ball losing in the WCF. Then he was an older salt and pepper haired man coaching a team that lost in the WCF. Now he's a white haired old retired man relaxing watching his old team grow yet again into a contender coached by another man. Waiting fearlessly for old age and illness to take him from this earth.........but not without a fight.

    My Bulls. More than the Jordan teams. Never enough of a bench. But great heart.

    And the 1975 Warriors would go on to sweep the Bullets in the NBA Finals. I remember Mike Riordan's hard foul on Rick Barry, and Al Attles getting ejected for fighting. Great memories!!!!!!!!!!!!! ,👍🏀

      First NBA championship in the Bay Area, but as of 1975 3rd NBA Title. The Warriors when they were in Philadelphia won 2 NBA titles

      Ok, since this comment isn't 12 years old(yet), I will begrudgingly rain a little on the 70's Bulls awesome bandwagon. They won 2 playoff series in the seventies. Two. Against the Kings and Pistons. For the whole decade. The only other time they made it to the WCF, they lost in four straight to the Bucks. I wouldn't have believed it either, I had to look it up, but for most of these years there is no first round in the playoffs. The conference semis are the first round, so all those semifinal losses to the Lakers were effectively first round losses, thus the two total playoff series wins.

    Thank you ginoonnnnnngkamote for posting more of this game! We need more '70s NBA (which is highly underrated) here.
    You're a cool dude for posting these.
    "Yes you are!" as Oscar Robertson (in his role as mid-'70s NBA On CBS commentator) would say.

    Great stuff - growing up in Chicago, we were always reminded how close the Bulls came to winning a championship. Van Lier was always around and a celebrity. Dick Motta also a great coach.
    Check out our channel - we do breakdowns of Bulls games every week, plus all other NBA teams. BBALLBREAKDOWN - It's not a channel. It's a conversation.

    Isn't it amazing how long it took the networks to figure out where to put the cameras so that the fans did not interfere with the image? Examples at 1:41 , 3:11 , and 5:29. At 7:14 , the entire screen is practically blacked out. Oh well, it doesn't distract from the greatness of this game. Poor Nate Thurmond. A year earlier he was with the Warriors, and as fate would have it, he was now with the Bulls. Motta decreased his minutes in the playoffs, and he does not even appear in this clip.

    Why this series so hard to find but when you find it, its in bad quality.

    One thing I have to say about my Bulls back in the day, they might not had much in players, but everybody worked there butts off, to get in the playoffs, #6 years in a row, they were right there, but there from office was cheap, Dick Motta was like coach Tibbs, all those players logged heavy minutes, just ask Bob Butterbean Love, and Derek Rose 🌹 😢🥀

    Oscar Robertson was the worst announcer to ever sit in front of a microphone.

    • @dmichael100
      @dmichael100 9 лет назад

      +richard speck Yes, he was the worst. He couldn't help yelling during a play while Musberger was trying to describe the action. I enjoy watching games from this era, but I simply cannot stand to listen to The Big O. CBS let him go as quickly as they could.

    • @swami1
      @swami1 8 лет назад

      dmichael100 The reason he was known as "The Big O" was because he always yelled "Oooohhhh!" after a nice play.

    Wow, Oscar was as awful behind a mic as he was beautiful on the court. Unfortunately, he made Musburger seem listenable and we've been saddled with him ever since.

      I had no idea that's who it was. I was starting to think CBS paired Nipsey Russell with Brent for a time in the mid seventies. Oscar thought the job description called for "colored commentary", and apparently decided to go "full plantation". Ah, racism.

    My favorite Bull team of all time. Such as shame as these guys played with such heart for years and the one year that the Bucks or Lakers didnt stand in their way the Cinderella Warriors took it from them. Hats off to Kamikaze Jerry, Stormin Norman, Chet the Jet, Butterbean Love and Big Tom as these guys for years gave Chicago a team to be proud of and rocked Chicago Stadium in a foregone era.
