I can drive pretty well but can't :
    Tie my hair
    Absorb information
    Deal with makeup
    Hand write
    Learn from books
    I drop things constantly
    I trip, fall and stumble
    I break phone's
Mine is co-morbid with ADHD too

You're a lioness, and given how much you've achieved despite these barriers is testament to your resilience and courage. I'm also ADHD dyspraxic and am on the verge of being asked to leave medicine, but hearing your experience gives me hope

Thanks for this! I'm currently investigating the possibility that I may be dyspraxic and really identified with alot of what you mentioned. I'm a similar age to you, turning 31 this year, and as you say it wasn't something that people were aware of when we were in school. Like you I haven't been able to learn to drive even though I hold an MA in a second language and have poor co-ordination and close to zero spatial awareness. It really is helpful to hear from someone in a somewhat similar situation! All the best for the future

Well done on the degrees I failed mine twice, you lack of understanding was unreal. I had it in black and white, showed it to my lecturer and her answer was doesn't matter it's in the curriculum. I have a good family and a thick skin but my friend who is great programmer but has terrible social skills is suicidal because of his families utter disregard for the troubles he has, I like watching things like this hearing people's strengths and weaknesses, I did pass my driving test but took 5 times, now done my CBT. And on the road soon bloody terrified lol

Hola i am from Argentina I was diagnosed with dyspraxia at 5 years
but I never understood what it was, until I started reading and watching videos of this style.
I really liked listening to you and feeling identified with everything you said,
fortunately I can drive and I have my license and I can read fast but I have a horrible letter that is impossible to read in the primary school they made me bullying for my letter.
I always liked to draw and paint but unfortunately I'm horrible doing both.
I would have liked to be good at some sport but the dispaxya makes me very clumsy and I could never be good at any.
pd: I break everything I hold too XD
thank u and hugs from Argentina, chau

Thank you for such a deeply honest video. Having 5 degrees is amazing and I hope you’re doing well 6 years later too! I’ve just found out I’ve probably got it alongside adhd from a free screening at university (where I’m completely mentally blocked from doing assignments rn). I’m going to get an official dyspraxia diagnosis later this year but it’s mad how much you notice it when someone tells you straight. I’ve suspected I had it before but only went in for adhd and she picked up on dyspraxia too. Now I’m hyper aware of my symptoms and have had a very long shift at work haha

I'm indecisive and went to several colleges and changed majors several times. I finally made up my mind and got a BA in CIS at 30. Now studying French at 38. I struggled reading until 3rd grade, didn't learn to ride a bike until 11, struggled tying my shoes until 4th grade, my hand writing is horrible but it's actually better in cursive, always had problems making friends, concentrating on one thing at a time. Not diagnosed with dyspraxia but I feel like it could be why I struggled and I do have poor balance and coordination.

Oh shoot. You exactly described me ........
I've been diagnosed w/ ADHD, and have suspected dyspraxia for a while.
I'm 29 and don't drive yet. I switch left and right all the time, and have no internal map of the world around me (topographagnosia). I've slidden down the stairs a couple times (thank goodness for handrails) and sprained my ankle pretty badly while carrying a large but lightweight box down stairs once. There is not a single day where I don't spill some of my food on me or on the floor. My processing speed is **so** slow, I hate it. Add auditory processing issues on top of it, and I miss what people say all the time. One of my major "coping mechanisms" is to just awkwardly chuckle at everything people say if I don't understand.
And I wish I could remember this specific example because it was hilarious, but I said a sentence out loud to my coworkers, and it was all the right words, but none of them in the right order.
Only thing different is I read about average speed and my handwriting is decent (not great, but okay).
    More:
I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was 10. I have the hardest time mirroring someone's movements (I *hated* those exercise videos in gym class, I could never keep up). I worked at one place for FIVE YEARS and still managed to bump into the same machine almost every time I went around the corner. I think it must be magic that people can apply eyeliner and lipstick evenly and neatly! Every now and then, when I'm standing or walking, I'll lean or veer off to one side because balance is a difficult concept :D

    • @1RungAtATime

My twin sons were diagnosed with Dyspraxia, mainly having difficulties with gross motor skills like running, throwing, and keeping their balance, so they couldn't ride a bike, but they don't have problems with falling down stairs, left/right, etc. and can drive. They shared some of her symptoms like bad handwriting, but were able to work though it so it's legible, and both can read very well. It seems like a game of Yahtzee as to what symptoms and severity you get from it.

    • @Akterleichbent
      @Akterleichbent 7 лет назад

I think I have undiagnosed dyspraxia sir.I couldn't ride a bike before but I can now. I am even shocked. I, however, am sensitive to touch, sound and temperature and I haven't encountered a person whose memory was worse than mine.

Everyone has problems, Every is unique I I had difficulty in catching balls ,couldn't see them , my mother had to teach me how to do my shoelaces, she was complaining about me being slow I am lefthanded , short sighted in the left eye and longsighted in the other. I feel as if I am in two parts my body walks forward but legs seem to not follow, terrified to turn around , balance. Cannot ride a bike , just terrified. Didn't know my left or my right , hadifficulty in figuring twenty to the house and vice versa, My grandfather tried to teach me the difference apparently walkedvwhen nine months banged my head and decide to not walk for another nine months could read when three and a half. I don't know whether it is there or not bit clumsy.

I have Dyspraxia, Dyslexia and OCD and because of that I fall over all the time and I can't speak proppley and people laugh at me, I right really slow and my handwrighting is bad so I get detention and I just can't stop cleaning up and some people call me teacher's pet, I also I cannot stop washing my hand and fiddling. and all this just me makes me sad also in my school no one has the same problems as me so no one knows how I feel and its just makes me sadder because I can't speak to anyone who knows what I feel like, so that makes me even more sad :'(
also if I was old enough to have driving lessons I probbely might end up me crashing alot. I still cannot tell the time so people make fun of me of that two :(

Don't let people bring you down. I can't tell you that it is easy but it certainly gets better with age. There's no reason you can't do anything you want in life, you might just have a work a little harder. Just look at Daniel Radcliffe; he suffered from both severe OCD and dyspraxia when he was younger and that never stopped him from becoming rich and famous. Feel free to message me if you ever need a chat.

    • @mexicanslollipops
      @mexicanslollipops 9 лет назад +1

+Opteryx Industries In the UK to get a proper diagnosis you have to visit an educational psychologist so that they can assess you. I think you can be referred by a GP (Doctor) or sometimes your University/ College/ High School/ Primary School may refer you. But depends on the people you meet really, some don't believe it a valuable use of funds so you may have to seek out an educational psychologist privately with your own funds.
