Beauty. Thanks for the ride. I have heel truss rod adjustments too. Got lazy and notched the body and pickguard. Put on trussrod wheels. Easy peasy now. I know what opinions are like but wouldn’t a notched straight edge be better for checking relief. Takes the frets out of the equation? Now let’s see a lefty on the bench. Great work, sir!
When the toggle on the upper horn is in the "up" position, the warmer rhythm circuit is engaged and when down you get the more jangly "lead". When in "lead", that third toggle for the lead circuit is a "strangle" switch that takes out even any residual warmth and makes it extra chime-y (how exactly, I do not know haha). You really have to play around with the lead switch combos but you can get a lot of different vibes out of it...
The Vintera series came out in 2019. I bought one identical to this in 2019 and it's become one of my two main gigging guitars. The only problem I had with it initially was the vintage bridge which doesn't really suit light gauge strings as the saddles kept moving around. I changed it for a Staytrem bridge and had no problems since then even though I still use 9 to 42 strings on it. The guitar came set up prefectly so I've not had to adjust the truss rod yet in the 4 years I've had it. The firetboard on these is Pao Ferro.
These re-string videos are cool because you give your opinion on the different guitars, which can help a beginner or even a novice looking for an axe.
I’ve got the same guitar. I did shim the neck and raise the bridge and with just a slight bit of neck relief it really came to life. I’m happy with this guitar. It’s a lot of fun to play, and with proper term spring adjustment it’s a pretty sweet machine. Happy new year.
Great first video for 2024 Dane. I don't know it's the body shape or chrome and switches that make them look extra cool.
75th Anniversary would be 2021 rather than 2012 Dane. Its a very new guitar, and I would guess Pau Ferro for the fretboard. That is a very nice Jag indeed. Nicely done again, that bridge adjustment is key!
Zimm is the coolest American guitar guy I've ever seen.
He is great to listen to.
All of those switches seem like overkill, but to each their own. I really like the color of this guitar and I really learned a lot from this video about the truss rod and the tiniest allen wrench in the world! lol. Thanks Dane!
Ive got a made in china FSR squier Jaguar, and i feel as though its just as good as any MIM Fender Jaguar! It also has a matching headstock and sounds so nice! That being said, i like the color of the jag in this video!
long live Zimm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy New Year Zimm
good job on stringing and setting this guitar up. i like the tuners as well my 59 reissue strat has them. as for the jaguar guitar i dont like them either. too twangy and too many switches etc. not too fond of mexican fenders either. but good job. hate those neck removal truss rod ajustments.
The jaguar is a great guitar, you need to know how to do a proper aet-up.
First, don't put 9s on a Jag! They are a short 24in scale guitar that require a bigger guage than a strat or tele to get the same level of tension. 11s work well!
Typically with 11s and a shim in the neck, you wont have those problems with buzzing amd strings popping out of the saddles.
It is amazing how many guitar techs don't understand offset guitars.. They are amazing if you know how to set them up properly!
You know, Dane, I actually had one of these bad boys in the 80s, but I didn't like it very much. I didn't know it when I bought this guitar, but I was about to get seduced into super strats before long. Naturally, that Jag was WAY wrong for someone wanting to go down THAT road. Also, I seem to remember that it, too, had a buried truss rod access, so I would have hated this axe by now anyway!
Ugh! Show the back some love and polish the back and neck! 😊
Dude, buried truss rod access is a deal breaker for me. I'm a hobbyist at best, so guitars are an indulgence for me, rather than an investment. I ain't rich, so I'm learning to set up and care for my own machines. I have done more than a few setups at this point -- enough to know that I don't ever want to have to deal with the extra hassle of removing the neck outright. That's one detail that WILL keep me from buying a guitar, among others.
Nice!
but i play a jaguar because they’re cool looking!
(i am one of those alt kids)
I do not like heel accessed trussrods, unless they make them easily accessible!
I mean, who the hell should be expected to have to at least partially dismantle something in order to make a tiny adjustment? And suppose you put it all back together only to find you still need more adjustment? Phukc that! 🤬
That’s barely a 4 year old guitar.
Purty but not for me
Great Guitar. Has that Nirvana vibe
Go buy a guitar
I'm with you, these guitars do nothing for me for some of the same reasons you said. That band did nothing for me. Three chords and the truth, bleh, IMHO, the 70's did it better than anything in the 90s. Still, it's cool to see you work on any guitar.
