  • Day TWO of my Pennsylvania railfan road trip found me checking another one off the list, the Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad. It was an awesome day from start to finish, from the exciting chase of the beautiful shortline to some Pitt Line and offroading adventures after dark. Thanks for railfanning with me, make sure to subscribe in order to see the rest of my road trip vids!

Once again, nicely done. It's awesome you were able to get a matched pair too! That shot at 19:30 is an instant fave.

Thank you! I was pretty happy to see the matched pair, and also quite pleased with how that bridge turned out. I guess I’ll have to go back again for the pseudo-street running scene…

Nice shot! have you looked into the Chesapeake and Albemarle Railroad in NC? They run 68 miles of the original southern trackage from the NS interchange in Norfolk, VA to Edenton, NC. They run four stone trains a week from Norfolk to Elizabeth City, NC

Awesome video. Glad you came here to film local shortline I grew up seeing. Other reason for single stack intermodels on Pittsburgh line is the height restriction on Northeast Corridor. NS has trackage rights on Northeast corridor from Perryville to Baltimore. I'm surprised you didn't feature on the map the other branch that leads to Lemont (near State College). NBER rarely run a train there to serve lumber store and the concrete mill once everyweek.

I thought they only ran the pleasant gap branch, when I drove along the line near state college it looked completely OOS, thanks for the info

16:32 That's the phase III heritage. Phase I heritage is the one with the red nose and pointless arrow. Interestingly from what I've heard that's the last 2011 heritage unit operating. Apparently the other ones crashed or something. Thankfully we have the 2021 ones now.

Hey! I'm coming down to PA for vacation on June 20th and am planning on visiting Bellefonte to see NBER, do they run off schedules or are they random? As you said in the video, they are daily runs, and I was just curious to know if they run off schedules

Both crews seemed to be OD 7am, one running to Tyrone and the other to either Lock Haven or Pleasant Gap. I’d be at Bellefonte by 7am on a weekday and you should be set!
