Except no. Batman is actually Batman and Superman is actually Clark Kent.

      @@RVAGrappling No. You don't understand.
Superman is the mask that Clark Kent puts on to protect his family and friends, to protect his real life. Clark is genuinely a honest, good, farm boy from Kansas, despite having the powers of a god. His disguise is Superman.
Bruce Wayne is the mask that Batman wears, in order to help him be Batman. Bruce (the mask) is jovial and out going, a party boy, a womanizer, carefree trust fund baby.
Batman himself considers the 8 year old he was to have died that night in Crime Alley. Batman is what emerged. What he forged himself into in order to avenge his parents and make sure no one ever has to go through what he did. Batman is the true self, Bruce Wayne is the disguise.
I can give examples from various stories and mediums which reinforce this disparity. My favourite probably comes from the Batman Beyond TV series where
"Bruce Wayne" is kidnapped and someone attempts to brainwash him, yet fails because the kidnapper kept calling him Bruce (despite pretending to be Batman's own mind). The kidnapper/brainwasher fails because even decades after giving up the cowl, Batman considers himself Batman and calls himself that.

@@Tovec8 Superman isn’t a mask. Batman is. As is Clark Kent

      Nope.
Batman uses Bruce Wayne to mask his true identity. That of Batman, the dark knight. If Bruce Wayne didn't exist, Batman would still exist. If Batman didn't exist Bruce Wayne wouldn't know what to do with himself.
Inversely, Clark Kent uses Superman as a public persona. He really just wants to live a quiet humble life, but he has these abilities that no one else has and so thrusts himself into situations that others can't because he thinks if they had his powers they would do the same and it is the only proper thing to do. If Superman loses his powers, he is fine. He misses them but ultimately, he just becomes more Clark Kent and is happy.
This really isn't hard. Bill/Quentin was wrong, he doesn't know what he is talking about. If you agree with that monologue then you also don't understand those characters.

People agree with this take while forgetting that Bill is a heartless killer. Why do you think this speech was in the movie? It was meant to show Bill's warped view of the world with his totally cynical, warped take on Superman. You're supposed to disagree with it for the scene to make sense in the movie.
