37:25 can delete the forester for the apples now. then unplant the trees so the spread to those few spots
@@jasonjazzz5 plant the one spot where the lumberjack flag was first
yes, please
to help with raising the population in a little more controlled fashion, keep a smaller house around and pause/unpause it as you need more population and build more larger houses. build a new house/lodge pause the small one for a bit, need a few more bodies down the line, unpause the small one. rinse repeat
That's a smart way of doing it
Don't worry, something is gonna get the vertical shaft
I'm glad these episodes always time with my dinner here in NZ, cos all the talk of stuffed peppers etc makes me hungry! 😋 I do enjoy watching whilst I eat dinner 🤗
→ 13:26 "We are still somehow running out of corn, so we probably need to plant more of that" - Half of your corn field is currently ready to harvest. So I'd first start getting enough farmers so you get actually everything harvested, then evaluate the need to plant more. An new farmhouse in the area of the "spinny huts" should help here. (Done 23:54)
→ 15:02 Getting some storage room for apples is still a good idea, you currently got zero (except in the gathering flag). Get some in the location where you process them further (i.e. bakeries and juice press), and some where your beavers live (done at 20:48). (Though I guess then you should also grow more apple trees, and/or make sure the ones you have are properly harvested.)
→ 22:18 "I know [the warehouse is] far away from the farm" - Your farmhouse has storage capacity for 50 of each type, which should give your haulers enough time to carry it out of the farmhouse to the warehouse. As such, the distance matters less, and as you say, it's not that far anyways.
→ 30:25 "They can't even cut down the trees fast enough" - I think your log storage is full (or was full before you places the last buildings a moment ago). Maybe an underground pile for logs might be a thing to invest into at some point. (After the number cruncher, I'd say.)
→ If you have gears lying on the ground and full storages, you could pause the gear workshops for a while.
→ 46:25 If you want to put a stream gauge in here, you could move the fuid dump just one or even two squares back (to sit on the levee). Though that conflicts a bit with the location of your water tank.
→ Yay for the number cruncher! (And yes, connecting it to the water wheels makes more sense than using an engine.)
→ Your forester in the apple farm is not needed anymore, the beaver is sitting idle. You can remove it, and most of the path there, to fill this with more trees - if you unplant the neighboring trees, they should eventually spread. One additional gatherer could also be good (that's why you might still need parts of the path - or put it on the side of the dead berries).
49:40 Tapper's Shacks and Foresters have the same range, the issue is built buildings cause pathing obstructions so... yeah. Also, that small tank is lowering the range of both of them, move it to be on the levees below the path and you'll have a bit more planting and tapping area to work with.
I love the verticality in Timberborn. Nothing stupid about it. That is your creativity to make it look nice and function!
A good thing to do is to make a powerline to the numbercruncher so the industry can get power from the waterwheels + the numbercruncher works in droughts dubble + when you can put some domes over the badwater source then it works all the time.
Yep, that's on the list. Remember our vertical shaft from last episode? That's going to connect soon
I believe the phrase "Bob's your uncle" comes from the British politician Arthur Balfour, who was very young but given a lot of powerful and prominent jobs by his uncle Robert Cecil-Gascoyne, who was Prime Minister. Thus, when things go your way, whether you deserve it or not, then it's because Bob's your uncle. Great series btw, loving it (and apocalypse mode).
"Bob's your uncle" is linked to two British politicians in the late Victorian age - the Prime Minister, Robert, Marquess of Salisbury and his nephew Arthur Balfour. Arthur got a promotion with government for which he was seen as unqualified for - leading someone in the press to joke that of all the qualifications people might have had to do that job, the only one that matters for that job is if Bob is your uncle. The phrase stuck as one for getting something easily without much work.
You could probably get rid of the forester on apple island and move the gatherer flag up there, lots of apples on trees so could use a 2nd gatherer too.
If he got rid of the forester there and unmarked for planting, the trees would naturally spread to fill empty spaces as well. Though if there is still bad water contamination, he won't have a way to replant once the forester is gone.
The second gatherer could likely be better on the other side, and if you keep both outside, then you also can remove most of the path and have more trees there.
@@PauxloE good point. With gatherer flags outside the island, I think all the paths could be removed
If you platform atop horseshoe pond you can use it for pathing, storage and farmhouses.
42:45
It would be interesting to have a stream gage to automate turning the dump on and off.
54:29
Add a second set of levies in the horseshoe a few blocks further from the river, so you get less evaporation.
You are not in desperate need for logs anymore.
8:39 - Perfect beaver for your saying.
And we've reached that immensely satisfying part of a playthrough where beaver numbers and resource production means you can start building things immediately and everything starts proceeding nice and quickly.
Gotta do the hard yards first, though.
18:50 know what'll get ya that 1k science? to quote you "well, im not gonna say it again" haha
@@jasonjazzz5
Btw, I find it absolutely hilarious that you actually say "comma" out loud. "However, comma." @46:02 This, for some unknown reason, makes me literally laugh hard af, not out loud but in my head. Not bc it's dumb or anything negative like that, I absolutely love it. It's unique. Never change. You, sir, are an awesome specimen.
25:50 "Where the grass don't grow."
If it's stupid and it works - it still works 🙃And some of the greatest inventions ever made, where once just a daydream 😉
A 100 Episodes whole map wide "Mega City" would indeed be nice 😁
5 compact water wheels across the main channel from your apple island can produce nearly 1k horse/bever/power unit of choice power. Makes an easy secondary power district on the other side of the channel that runs quite well as an option. Really good at powering things that take like 500hp to operate I would think. You know, perhaps something that would have done quite well for producing research that could have been used to pay for large underground storages in a more timely fashion. 😁
I like what JC did better. It was a good idea but making the maple farm there and putting the auto science machine out of the way was a better, more efficient choice.
@30:20, I believe your log storage is full and thus limiting how many trees you can log.
More lumberjacks and log storage, so you have the wood available when starting the reservoir or other log heavy builds.
35:35 what an RCE move ;)
Nah, creators did that way b4 RCE.. he is just more popular, so he gets the mention.
37:50 A sluice would be fine there, with only 15% contamination
41:30 with some paths and a ladder, you could shorten the way between apple storage and apple pie/juice production
100% clean water greens a bigger area
I figured he was going to throw a ladder there and connect the paths but unfortunately he didn't.:(
The 2 free blocks in the middle between the bakeries is an ideal spot for 2 double platforms and then 2 6x1 overhangs then 6x1 overhangs both ways out on them and then can build above bakeries and drinks storage. Think you need double plats to get over the bakery chimneys i think.
@47:54, put a stream gage in the middle! You have the technology to :D
3:28 , wall off the bad water well! Let it just flow over the side! Such a big map you can clean it up on episode 100.
48:55 the reason it dried out so fast is because 1x channels have the highest evaporation rate. Also water under .25 evaporates faster too.
👍
You should put the farms over the Riverbend via platforms and reroute the pathing(bonus points if you make it so that the path thing has each individual crop in its own little field).
You could just move your platforms onto the other side of the barriers for the maple tree area and not have to deal with a weird ladder situation since technically you don’t need a reason to go up to the bad water area yet and you have slightly easier access to bad water over by your industrial area.
Give the beavers more aesthetics, pretty please.
Gr8 work again, JC. So satisfying to watch ur vids.
All hail the number crucher🎉🎉🎉🎉
What i did in my game was: Filled that.... hole just to the right of your district center (no walls, just filled it) then planted my apple trees all around it, then i used dynamite to knock out that cliff/ridge line along the river behind your district center. If you connect your main river across to that "behind River" it'll give you a HUGE area for farming or Apples!
Really good idea.
thanks for another awesome vid
Would be cool to see if the huge lake on the other side of the hill for the future metal/bot district, which is full of badwater now, could be cleaned up with some smart river diversions? If all that was clean water it could easily support future expansion of the beaver population in new districts over there.
Can't wait for storage overhaul episode driving me nuts how scattered it is lol
i would like to see you irrigate that big hole next to the pumps, like an oasis or something. That could help expand the farms.
50:00 Wise choice.
We love to stack. 🐸
please add storage for wheat, logs, planks too. and one each of roof, shrub, lantern on the houses barracks would give you quick well being points. much easier to get these points than increasing the food variety. now that research is no longer an issue all these can be unlocked easily
and many more water wheels across the main river, and badwater stream up above, and all power users connected to each other, so there is never a situation where one has extra power and another is running at low productivity
Is it an idea to start building overhangs over the underground warehouses and build the other warehouses on top? Saves space and is more aesthetically pleasing :)
50:40 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Okay, this has been gnawing at me for a few episodes, but some of the music makes me think of Godzilla's theme song slowed down.
And another of the songs makes me think of Skyrim.
If you have such a surplus of bevers some extra science could be nice
I'm starting a drinking game because I binge your videos on the weekends I am going to do a shot every time you saw "it takes time"
I actually liked the Emberpelts a lot, was nice to have so much variety in plants to create different food and drinks. Not played with the trains yet, Got to Happiness lvl 63 though on my emberpelts play though, my highest so far. felt it was easier to achieve because i wasnt even trying to get a high happiness score was just playing as normal as was my 1st time playing with the faction.
"Bob's your uncle" essentially means "everything is taken care of" or "it's as simple as that"
It originated in the late 1800s. A British prime minister got his nephew a political job. People said it was easy for the nephew bc "Bob's your uncle". So he got the job, without the work and effort others had to do to get the same jobs. It simply got handed to him. But it changed over the years into what my above comment says.
If you build levys and put contamination barriers on top of those then you should have a little more space for planting. 🤓
Maybe some of us would like a 100 episode series 😂
My book for this video............. Pickles. End. lol
Idk if this mod has mangroves but you could plant mangroves in the horseshoe for some additional variety
Nope, no mangroves. Emberpelts hate water, remember?
18:28 I was thinking about ways to reduce the evaporated water in the oxbow lake, where you could levee off the ends about 6 tiles in from the current levees to reduce the amount of space you pour water into (without reducing the hydrated surface area)(without just adding another water pump to the other side and making it a 3x3 hole because that's just more unfulfilled jobs), when I realized.
We aren't growing mangrove trees in the oxbow. Do those exist in this playthrough?
Oh wait... that would require the fire beavers to get wet. Nevermind.
So yeah, shortening the oxbow is probably a good idea- waste not, want not on the water front.
For the cost of 3 levees on the left side, you'd save 15 tiles or so of water evaporation. You'd have to redo the path to repeat on the right side, but the water dump could be moved inland and do the same thing.
48:13 Oh wow. We're still on 20 hour work days
🐸!

45:49 Doesn’t 1x1 water evaporate faster?
So when is the push for getting the water cleaner ?
You really need to get dynamite unlocked
Instead of the second hauling post, I would have put in a bunch more inventors. Set them to lowest workplace priority. Then when you have beavers not doing anything else, at least you have science coming in.
Edit: just noticed that your small tank for maple syrup is blocking the pathing for more trees. If you moved it onto the levees, the forester would probably reach all the way back into that corner
Edit again, haha: both of my suggestions got proven irrelevant by the end of the episode.
1 wide channels are really bad for evaporation since the change...
why didnt u just fill the area east of your pump with water lots of growing area around and u could make the it deeper with dynamite
🚨❓❓ do contamination barriers under 3x3 of irrigation water reduce the effective size of irrigation ❓❓❓ ... I think contamination barriers can be built on levees ( that might be better than shrinking the 3x3 / building cont. Barriers On land
Contamination barriers do not stop irrigation, only contamination, and must be placed on actual dirt as far as I know
@34:17,
depends lol.
putin, trump, hitler are ugly and I do feel something about these dregs.
Whereas 4'33" by John Cage is a strange piece but I can understand some of the reasons behind it.
44:12 🚨🚨you 🚨🚨built🚨🚨 buildings🚨🚨& paths🚨 🚨in🚨🚨BADWATER🚨🚨AREA🚨🚨
I thought he blocked that bad water runoff from flowing back there.
Yeah you can see at around the @50:00 mark when he placed the number cruncher where he blocked the bad water source from flowing down and behind the colony. So nothing flows back there any more.
If there was still water flow at all, of any contamination level, in the rear river, you would have been able to see it during the temperate cycle @34:00 time of the video. It's the wet season, and nothing is flowing back there. So, there's no reason to worry.
😤😤 DO EVERYTHING 😤😤😤plz🥺
My comments unlike my actual life actually matter here. I feel seen.
