  • Hi friends! James & Sarah here, back with another episode in our UK travel series & the second part of this Scotland road trip around the gorgeous South West Coastal 300.
If by any chance you haven’t seen the first installment be sure to jump back & watch that first here: • South West Coastal 300...
Last time we left you midway round the SWC300 route in Stranraer, so this time we’re continuing up the East coast of Scotland & crossing over from the county of Dumfries and Galloway into South Ayrshire.
We stop off to take in an epic sunset view of the Aisle of Craig, have our minds blown at the geographical phenomenon that is Electric Brae & spend some time exploring the majestic ruins of Dunure Castle.
Heading inland we go on the hunt for some neolithic artwork, drive along the seriously scenic Mennock Pass to the highest village in Scotland & spend the night in Ae Forest. Before heading off we make a brief stop in the city of Dumfries & stop by Caerlaverock Castle.
And that’s it for van life in Scotland this time! We’re not exactly sure where we’re heading to next, but we’ll see you there!
You can find more detailed adventure guide for the South West Coastal 300 road trip and the places we visit in this video over on our travel blog: thewholeworldo...

Anyone else tried a battered Mars Bar?! Would you? Could you?

My partner and I have been following your sprinter videos for a few months now ever since we bought our very own sprinter for conversion. We both live and work across a few of the places you showed in this video and were surpised to see things we never knew were right on our doorstep. Thank you for all the vidoes!

Ah wow that’s great to hear, it’s so funny how you can discover new stuff on your doorstep, we find that happens to us too when looking through other peoples’ eyes. Good luck with the build, hope it’s going well!

Did a back to back on your van transformation yesterday.. love it.. Sarah is a brilliant. One of my favourite conversations, I was looking to put them panels on in my wet room, I’ve changed my mind after watching your stress..Sarah is brilliant..love it.. 👏🏻❤️

So glad you enjoyed it! Yeah the panels are great but were quite difficult to install. Although someone who fits them for a living made a comment on that video that the more expensive and thicker panels are much easier to install. We’ve also had people suggesting that the single sheets are easier. Good luck whatever you choose! 😀

Hi just found this post great video. A bit of information. The black hut at Carelton used to be lived in by a local fisherman. Carleton had salmon fishing nets just a few metres from the beach.

Love watching your videos, always so upbeat and make me laugh. Hopefully I'll get to Scotland in the next couple of years, part of my heritage and I would love to see it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it. Scotland is part of our heritage too actually (surname McAlister) so we love going there and exploring that. We hope you get there soon 😊

Ah amazing. It will be a fair bit more than 300 from Norfolk! But it’s a really incredible part of the country so well worth the trip up. Enjoy 😊

There are soooo many recipes for deep fried snickers online - just go ogle... I for one have never attempted the DFMB and as a Scot I can tell you, I don't know anyone who has!!! A crazy invention for those crazy Sasenachs, maybe?
This was a gorgeous film of all those places of yesteryear - your 'vintage' feelings are not wrong. I live in such a place, but there is no denying the faded charm. It is sad, though, that so many such places do face closed shops - even more since COVID. Glad to hear you would like to visit again... but you need to seek out and buy some of the extra-fine netting created specifically for midges; it resembles your mum's old nylons! YAM xx

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  2 года назад

Sorry for the delayed reply! You're absolutely right about the snickers!! Don't think we'll be attempting it any time soon though 😆
It's definitely sad about the closed shops but we genuinely loved Girvan and would 100% go back. We also met some of the friendliest, funniest, most welcoming people we've come across there. We really hope these kind of places manage to get back to their former glories once covid is over.
We're definitely getting some of that netting before our next visit! Midges are no Joke! Hope you're well 😊
