- "It's Only Love (Vertrau in uns)" from the original english demo recording of Frank Wildhorn's Rudolf - the Last Kiss, which would become Rudolf - Affaire Mayerling, the German-language musical currently playing at the Raimund Theater in Vienna, Austria.
A note: While I generally prefer the German lyrics, the English version of this song does have one discrete advantage: in the musical it is referred back to nicely when Taaffe returns Mary's ring and comments "Es ist nur Liebe," which Rudolf bitterly repeats.

Linda is such a great performer. One of the best versions I have ever heard of this song.
The way the singer caught the emotions in the first few lines is just amazing. So beautiful.

The song was originally written for Frank's show "The Scarlet Pimpernel" - that is what this version is. The demo for Scarlet Pimpernel - Margurite sining to Percy.. He took the tune and reused it with slightly differently to use it in Rudolf.
@hugmonster1 Though first appearing on Broadway in the Scarlet Pimpernel, Only Love was originally written for Rudolf. With the Hungarian and Vienna productions, Wildhorn restored it to its rightful place - and it can be found both on the Rudolf demo, and (in German, as ,,Vertrau in uns") on the Original Vienna Cast album.
This is the best version of the song, for me. Everything is just right. Linda, your version of this beauty is still my favorite!!! Best wishes to you, Ms. Eder!

And the musical is all the better for having it, plus i like Lisa and this singer more than Christine Andreas , who sang it in Pimpernel.
why does everyone hate on christine andreas? I like it Her voice makes more sense in the musical than Linda's schmaltzy rendition here would for the character.
