I see you try to turn away I hear the words you want to say I feel how much you need to hide What's happening inside you tonight Come meet my eyes one moment more Our eyes are different than before This night, so beautiful and strange This night begins to change who we are Don't turn away, it's only love Quietly coming to you Whispering through you Take my hand, it's only love Let it come through you slowly Don't be afraid, it's only love We touch - the dark begins to stir We can't go back to where we were Don't be afraid to make it real, Don't be afraid to feel tonight Don't turn away, it's only love Only a touch that frees you Let it release you Take the chance, it's only love Open your heart and show me Don't be afraid, it's only love Don't close your eyes Don't hold it in Reach out to me Let it all begin Don't be afraid, it's only love Only a touch that frees you Let it release you Take the chance, it's only love Let it come through you slowly Open your heart and show me Don't be afraid, it's only love
This is the best version of the song, for me. Everything is just right. Linda, your version of this beauty is still my favorite!!! Best wishes to you, Ms. Eder!
@hugmonster1 Though first appearing on Broadway in the Scarlet Pimpernel, Only Love was originally written for Rudolf. With the Hungarian and Vienna productions, Wildhorn restored it to its rightful place - and it can be found both on the Rudolf demo, and (in German, as ,,Vertrau in uns") on the Original Vienna Cast album.
The song was originally written for Frank's show "The Scarlet Pimpernel" - that is what this version is. The demo for Scarlet Pimpernel - Margurite sining to Percy.. He took the tune and reused it with slightly differently to use it in Rudolf.
+Rose White You're right! I didn't get a chance to see the show but from listening to Linda Eder and comparing it to Christine Andreas's from the Bway production, I prefer Linda's voice.
This is a beautiful song. I heard that Wildjorn took it out of Scarlet Pimpernel. Why would he do that? This song is breathtaking? Who is singing? Lisa?
why does everyone hate on christine andreas? I like it Her voice makes more sense in the musical than Linda's schmaltzy rendition here would for the character.
Das Lied ist so wundervoll. Haben dazu unseren Hochzeitstanz getanzt
I see you try to turn away
I hear the words you want to say
I feel how much you need to hide
What's happening inside you tonight
Come meet my eyes one moment more
Our eyes are different than before
This night, so beautiful and strange
This night begins to change who we are
Don't turn away, it's only love
Quietly coming to you
Whispering through you
Take my hand, it's only love
Let it come through you slowly
Don't be afraid, it's only love
We touch - the dark begins to stir
We can't go back to where we were
Don't be afraid to make it real,
Don't be afraid to feel tonight
Don't turn away, it's only love
Only a touch that frees you
Let it release you
Take the chance, it's only love
Open your heart and show me
Don't be afraid, it's only love
Don't close your eyes
Don't hold it in
Reach out to me
Let it all begin
Don't be afraid, it's only love
Only a touch that frees you
Let it release you
Take the chance, it's only love
Let it come through you slowly
Open your heart and show me
Don't be afraid, it's only love
The way the singer caught the emotions in the first few lines is just amazing. So beautiful.
Linda is such a great performer. One of the best versions I have ever heard of this song.
Qué canción y voz tan bonita❤
This is the best version of the song, for me. Everything is just right. Linda, your version of this beauty is still my favorite!!! Best wishes to you, Ms. Eder!

@mmgringoire2 I think that that's Linda Eder singing; she was married to Frank at the time that he wrote this.
@mmgringoire2 Kate Shindle sings it on the Demo recording. Lisa sings it on the Vienna cast recording. Someone told me that...I forget who XD

And the musical is all the better for having it, plus i like Lisa and this singer more than Christine Andreas , who sang it in Pimpernel.
why does everyone hate on christine andreas? I like it Her voice makes more sense in the musical than Linda's schmaltzy rendition here would for the character.
