When i was a young kid i practiced karate for 4 years and soon after i had given up because i had no interest anymore, 12 years later i took up muay thai and have loved it since, this highlight of andy hug brings back old memories and gives me motivation to keep training and moving forward. RIP Andy Hug.
Would you believe me if I told you I was looking for this 3 months ago.. Could not find it. It came to my mind on and off. And tonight I found this highlight again after so long. Completely understand what you mean!!! Now i will download it to my thumbdrive. Can't risk losing it again.
The best performer of lots techniques, extremely strong, died too early...still inspires many...forever in our memory, Andy Hug a true warrior of our times.
Andy, you will live forever in our memories, in our minds, in our hearts and in many, many gyms around the world, where kids loving this sport are bringing to you a tribute, by thinking about you while training, or exercising that wonderful axe kick. There are people that, when appearing, you know something is about to change. You changed the face of fighting sports and for this you have my respect.RIP.
I found this video about 7 months ago and have watched it probably 21 times he is not a mix between people he doesn't fight like other people he is an original pioneer of fighting sports he is now my new found idol and i only wish he was still alive. Ps he was diagnosed with leukemia in early august 2000 two weeks later he was in a coma and soon after he was dead. This is a great tribute the music sends a chill down my spine amazing video
It was released in inglis.Igot it in my PS2. Andy Hug!!!
Today is the 1rst day I met Andy. Right away I fel in love with his style of fighting. Perfect combinations & accuracy. If he met his match i'd wanna c that fight. But now I read he passed away. Rest in Peace. You have been and are a great example. It is obvious you are a honorable man who has respect for his opponent. Thank you for uploading. A very good video with greatslow motions & nice editing.
What a unique talent! I wish I could have seen some of those shows live. This was a grand fighter. Whatever he learned on the practice floor was seamlessly applied in the ring, THE MOST difficult of all places to try those wonderful techniques.
mi favorito... es un muy buen peleador y el video esta de verdad muy inspirador.... saludos a todos los peleadores y practicantes de artes marciales. larga vida a todos
Wow best tribute for this amazing fighter I've been training muay Thai for 2 years and I'm 17 I swear myself that I would learn this mans technique as a tribute because a great legend like this should have a passing of some sort so axe kick training Here I come!
Go with the lord! He was awesome! One of the few fighters in the whole world who can realy use those amazing spinning kicks in real fights not in movies!!
He was the most sophisticated warrior in the K1-series.He posesses the ultimate combination of technics, speed, balance and power. Anyone who learn martial arts would happily choose him for master.Loyalty for his way means to be martial artist. Rest in peace Master!
THE BEST !!! ANDY, YOU'RE IN OUR HURTS !!!! YOU ARE THE EXAMPLE FOR EVERY KICKBOXERS !!!!! I'M YOUR FAN FOR 12 YEARS !!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WERE THE BEST !!!!!
I got my black belt a the age of 15 as Karate Kenpo and that guy is my hero. When I look at what he's done in the ring. This is amazing to succeed with such kicks in real life combats. RIP
the best thing about him is that he was a sportsman. Compared to todays mma fighters in the octagon he never went after his an oponent obiusly knocked out to punch or kick his face 10 times more, he didnt need to do that he kicked ass without... R.I.P, greetings from switzerland
that spinning heel kick to bernardo's thigh is the single most devastating strike ever performed in martial arts competition in my opinion. there will probably never be anyone in k1 as skilled at karate as andy ever again. rest in peace samurai
What really surprises me is that the uploader of this video is not Japanese or even Swiss he was loved like no other fighter in Japan and i bet the Swiss must love him and beeing very proud that Hug was Swiss too! R.I.P. Andy
@daitantamashii Suikoden 3 Intro theme is the song....I love this highlight JUST because of that same reason too. The feeling it brings out is amazing.
I had the honour to be trained by Andy Hug in Denmark around 1989 i think? Summercamp with a local Kyokuchinkai karate club (Roskilde, Denmark, Jesper-Jan). Andy was in a category for him self. Like "what if Andy Hug was here?" Remeber this exercise where a student made a hard forward circle kick to his front, he said 1..2..3.. and at 10 he said something different, like "listen to me", but the student kicked again! Andy looked at him and we all froze.... He kept it cool, and things went on.
perfect karateka, perfect mentality, perfect human,
Andy Hug forever
R.I.P my friend ..!

Andy Hug was great because he had a formidable array of flashy techniques that worked to perfection in kickboxing matches.

This is the first time i've come across andy hug & he's like a street fighter in the video game!
I had the honour to be trained by Andy Hug in Denmark around 1989 i think? Summercamp with a local Kyokuchinkai karate club (Roskilde, Denmark, Jesper-Jan). Andy was in a category for him self. Like "what if Andy Hug was here?"
