Valorant’s graphics are built around the game, so you get higher fps, greater accessibility on older PC’s, and less clutter for visual clarity. Overwatch’s graphics are built to look good and keep the characters distinct. Both companies are far ahead of others in design, a few artists including Anh Dang (one of the big skin designers for OW), migrated over to Riot these past years.

I can't tell you how often, after a match of OW, I'd let out a big sigh and say "that was exhausting" (I play support, so much to keep track of) and he'd just be like "wtf? That was such an easy game". While the other way around, he'd get really exhausted after just 3 games of Valorant, cause he "needs to think so much more about what he does". It's really interesting to see those two perspectives in my opinion.
guys just a small mistake in the video, soldier 76's ability is compared to brimstone's combat stim. Well they both don't have the same function, but definitely look the same. Soldier 76 puts a healing kind of zone which heals him and his teammates, whereas brimstone's combat stim just increases the speed of reloading and walking of him and his teammates.
On release that’s what it looked like, but overwatch and Val play Entirely different, ones elimination while the other you can respawn, ones a massive team fight while the other. Is a 5v5 where each persons life is dependent and can change the tide of battle. Now Val is also different from cs. Val has abilities that change the impact of the game, for a tactile approach allowing more creative ways to play and attack. On top the color pallet makes it so it’s easier to see enemies, on top bullet spray control requires you stand still in gun fights. They play completely diffrent from the games that they “ripped off”

I chalk it down to just stereoyping more than anything. Not really in a bad way but like certain cultures (chinese, european, etc), characters (the old soldier, the scientist, etc), or archetypes (the archer, the edgelord, etc) are gonna have repeated themes. With that said a lot of these are pretty damn close lol. Omen and Reaper might as well haver been designed by the same person.
I was a reaper main playing overwatch and when I started valorant, I was searching for an agent that's similar with reaper. That's why I ended up maining omen :)
Fun fact: Raze’s VA is the same as Sombra’s! Carolina Ravassa. I love both of them, but I love Overwatch more probably because I suck at CS:GO styled combat
Jett is much faster, and for people who cant aim flying enemies or enemies with free high ground, good luck. Neon is still grounded and has loud footsteps, Jett dash has a loud noise too but you dont know where she went.
@@socringe2217 In low elo most people don't even know how to play her and how to adapt to her playstyle plus things like her ultimate can be punished just by having better tracking than the neon and killing her with your gun. It's not that bad.
NGL a LOOOT of these are a stretch. And the ones most similar are only similar because they're part of a specific trope of unit found in most hero shooters like the turret user, the explosive expert with rocket/grenade jump, fps DPS soldier class, etc. Some like Hanzo and reaper I can see though. Wall hacks via arrow is a pretty specific ability, and the tp ability and animation are almost identical

No the abilities in overwatch are much more powerful mercy has a rechargeable revive for 10 to 15 seconds healing heals way more 55 per second(no recharge) she can glide to her team at a 3 second recharge but on weapons damage I would agree(that’s only one character junk would completely negate almost all heroes on valo with how broken he is)

No one is saying anyone copied anyone and if you do say that, that's dumb. When you're making a character based FPS, abilities are gonna overlap between games because you want to cover all the existing archetypes to have in your game and then you can build of that and add your own spin on existing concepts or make completely new ones. People see paladins as an OW rip-off but if you've played the game you know the similarities are pretty much all only surface level, OW and paladins and their characters and game modes all function very differently.

I am really wondering how the Omen TP and Sova recon dart are impactful in a game like overwatch, where everyone seems to be spamming and running straight into the fight like some moshpit. Same goes for the yoru uit
The omen tp (reaper) is usseles except for his ult and highground sova dart (hanzo) is wery good against flankers and it easi to line up a shot yoru ult (sombra) your invisible for how long you want and you pull out your gun almost instantly so its rly good

@@MrJaapjeAapje Overwatch has two different objectives, a "point" and a "payload". The point is just a marked out area you gotta capture by being on it alone. Basically just keeping the enemies off of it. The payload is a little car, which moves over a set track if, similar to the point, only one team is in touch with it. Depending on your side you gotta move it over certain checkpoints or stop it from moving/move it backwards. Some maps are point only, so it is first to win 2 rounds aka capture the point twice. Others are payload only, so it's who gets the most check points the quickest (each team will push one round and stop one round). Some maps mix both. When it comes to kill impact, I'd say in general, one single kill often won't do much in itself. But since Overwatch is very role based (Supports mainly only heal, tanks are flesh shields for their team, dps do high damage but are fragile) and has looots of damage, killing off certain people can basically open a window to kill more people quickly. And the more people you kill at once, the easier it is to capture something. Because overwatch has set respawn chambers. So once you die, you gotta run back to where you were first, which takes time. I hope this summoned it up simply enough?
@@MrJaapjeAapje In higher ranks of Overwatch if you get spotted with sova recon dart (hanzo) and peak him your basically a free kill for his insta kill headshot arrow. And kills matter a lot if you get a pick in a team fight it's now a 5v6 and if you get another pick it's a 4v6. Depending on who died and if no one traded the team with less people usually would have to run away and wait for the other people to respawn to avoid getting staggered and to be able to have a chance to retake in a 6v6. The game modes in Overwatch usually come down to what team can capture the fastest and stall the enemy for the longest.

Nah.. it is a copy of Overwatch but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that because it’s a good game, and probably better than Overwatch. Denying it’s obvious “influence” from OW is dumb.
I don't care so much about the similarities as I care about how better Valorant looks visually. Agents ultimates really do feel like ultimate abilities, whereas in OW you can't really tell the difference between an ability and an ultimate.
@@wesker6908 i was talking about the ultimates. Best example I can give id Breach and Reinh - they esentially do the same thing, but Breach's ult looks like an actual ultimate. Hanzo's ult is good, but it feels a lot more simple when compared to Sova's ultimate. Graphic wise, yes OW is better, absolutely, but in terms of visual effects of the abilities, Valorant feels more impactful to me
Valorant has taken inspiration from OW for sure and hand picked the abilities that'll work in FPS game. But, let's hope riot can bring some original idea and character concept forward. I didn't really liked design of neon but I loved chamber and wht his kit brings to valorant ❤️

I think the all the abilities in Overwatch work well in the area shooter setting that it is. (a few of them work too well like being able to rez people on a 25 sec cooldown) Val is a slower paced tact shooter so they had to go for a different set of abilities.

Aside from game and characters mechanics, the similarity that worries me the most is Reynas and Sombras designs. Literally almost the same character design, both Mexican with similar personalities, purple futuristic outfit with black and silver details and black hair with purple ends… feel like Valorant took to much “inspiration” in this one. Other similarities can be excusable.
Ok, Sombra and Reyna do NOT have similar personalities. Sombra is playful and silly. Reyna is more negative and intense. Not to mention that Reyna doesn't like technology and technology is Sombra's thing. And their outfits are not as similar as you make them out to be, like, at all. The little silver details don't really mean a thing here, futuristic outfits usually include silver. Reyna's outfit is way more black while Sombra's outfit is way more purple. Sombra's hair is not black/purple, it's dark brown/purple. Yeah......you were definitely reaching here
It's pretty cheap of Riot to having copied this much from Blizzard. Overwatch was very original and unique until Riot stole this much for their game. Valorant is fun but it's by far not as special as Overwatch. I hope Overwatch 2 will bring back the good times of 2016-2018.

When I played in the OW2 beta, it was a really good game.
Reaper and Omen looks almost identical. Riot didn’t even put much effort to make omen a bit unique.

valorant's a game that relies heavily on aim mastery, while OW's more on the chaotic skill set imo
as an ow player who played since 2017, you dont know wtf is on your screen and you just rely on audio cues, comms and muscle memory

Jett is much faster, and for people who cant aim flying enemies or enemies with free high ground, good luck. Neon is still grounded and has loud footsteps, Jett dash has a loud noise too but you dont know where she went.
Neon is actually not that good because almost no one knows how to play her properly.
@@socringe2217 In low elo most people don't even know how to play her and how to adapt to her playstyle plus things like her ultimate can be punished just by having better tracking than the neon and killing her with your gun. It's not that bad.
NGL a LOOOT of these are a stretch. And the ones most similar are only similar because they're part of a specific trope of unit found in most hero shooters like the turret user, the explosive expert with rocket/grenade jump, fps DPS soldier class, etc.
Some like Hanzo and reaper I can see though. Wall hacks via arrow is a pretty specific ability, and the tp ability and animation are almost identical
The best feeling is when your duo/trio plays both games, so they’re down to play any of them

@@Dovsaspa a bit of both, though agents identity doesn’t fully work since there’s more information on the Overwatch agents than the Valorant agents. Also it just seems like in the lore, Valorant Agents could be more effective.
No the abilities in overwatch are much more powerful mercy has a rechargeable revive for 10 to 15 seconds healing heals way more 55 per second(no recharge) she can glide to her team at a 3 second recharge but on weapons damage I would agree(that’s only one character junk would completely negate almost all heroes on valo with how broken he is)

No one is saying anyone copied anyone and if you do say that, that's dumb. When you're making a character based FPS, abilities are gonna overlap between games because you want to cover all the existing archetypes to have in your game and then you can build of that and add your own spin on existing concepts or make completely new ones.
People see paladins as an OW rip-off but if you've played the game you know the similarities are pretty much all only surface level, OW and paladins and their characters and game modes all function very differently.

I was first introduced to Shooters when I played Valorant, and when it exploted on Twitch in 2020, I was addicted to it, and I tried overwatch before, is not that it is bad, but it is too caotic, and its hard for me to concentrate like that, and i also prefer PC than console, so i tried, and it didn't stick with me

I am really wondering how the Omen TP and Sova recon dart are impactful in a game like overwatch, where everyone seems to be spamming and running straight into the fight like some moshpit. Same goes for the yoru uit
The omen tp (reaper) is usseles except for his ult and highground sova dart (hanzo) is wery good against flankers and it easi to line up a shot yoru ult (sombra) your invisible for how long you want and you pull out your gun almost instantly so its rly good

Just cant imagine the impact of a single kill on a match, and i really doubt the impact of the majority of the abilities i have seen in overwatch on the outcome of a match. @@MrJaapjeAapje Overwatch has two different objectives, a "point" and a "payload".
The point is just a marked out area you gotta capture by being on it alone. Basically just keeping the enemies off of it.
The payload is a little car, which moves over a set track if, similar to the point, only one team is in touch with it. Depending on your side you gotta move it over certain checkpoints or stop it from moving/move it backwards.
Some maps are point only, so it is first to win 2 rounds aka capture the point twice. Others are payload only, so it's who gets the most check points the quickest (each team will push one round and stop one round). Some maps mix both.
When it comes to kill impact, I'd say in general, one single kill often won't do much in itself. But since Overwatch is very role based (Supports mainly only heal, tanks are flesh shields for their team, dps do high damage but are fragile) and has looots of damage, killing off certain people can basically open a window to kill more people quickly. And the more people you kill at once, the easier it is to capture something.
Because overwatch has set respawn chambers. So once you die, you gotta run back to where you were first, which takes time.

In higher ranks of Overwatch if you get spotted with sova recon dart (hanzo) and peak him your basically a free kill for his insta kill headshot arrow.
And kills matter a lot if you get a pick in a team fight it's now a 5v6 and if you get another pick it's a 4v6. Depending on who died and if no one traded the team with less people usually would have to run away and wait for the other people to respawn to avoid getting staggered and to be able to have a chance to retake in a 6v6.
The game modes in Overwatch usually come down to what team can capture the fastest and stall the enemy for the longest.
As both a Valorant and Overwatch player, I can confidently say that they both copied TF2

I don't care so much about the similarities as I care about how better Valorant looks visually. Agents ultimates really do feel like ultimate abilities, whereas in OW you can't really tell the difference between an ability and an ultimate.

@@wesker6908 i was talking about the ultimates. Best example I can give id Breach and Reinh - they esentially do the same thing, but Breach's ult looks like an actual ultimate. Hanzo's ult is good, but it feels a lot more simple when compared to Sova's ultimate. Graphic wise, yes OW is better, absolutely, but in terms of visual effects of the abilities, Valorant feels more impactful to me

I think the all the abilities in Overwatch work well in the area shooter setting that it is. (a few of them work too well like being able to rez people on a 25 sec cooldown) Val is a slower paced tact shooter so they had to go for a different set of abilities.

Aside from game and characters mechanics, the similarity that worries me the most is Reynas and Sombras designs. Literally almost the same character design, both Mexican with similar personalities, purple futuristic outfit with black and silver details and black hair with purple ends… feel like Valorant took to much “inspiration” in this one. Other similarities can be excusable.
Ok, Sombra and Reyna do NOT have similar personalities. Sombra is playful and silly. Reyna is more negative and intense. Not to mention that Reyna doesn't like technology and technology is Sombra's thing. And their outfits are not as similar as you make them out to be, like, at all. The little silver details don't really mean a thing here, futuristic outfits usually include silver. Reyna's outfit is way more black while Sombra's outfit is way more purple. Sombra's hair is not black/purple, it's dark brown/purple.

It's pretty cheap of Riot to having copied this much from Blizzard. Overwatch was very original and unique until Riot stole this much for their game. Valorant is fun but it's by far not as special as Overwatch. I hope Overwatch 2 will bring back the good times of 2016-2018.
