This video provides a great disservice to the industry. Bare minimum for a old pole barn a mile away but not for an expensive house. This is how old school roofing thugs would install your roof. Good enough for them but today we have much more talent out there. These roofs are expensive and deserve a quality installation. They should be a lifetime roof.
My sentiments exactly. I would never let this individual install a roof on my house. What a mess. My problem with metal roofing is the sellers of the product dont or won't sell to the home owner. You have hire an installer. You end up some loser installing your roof and then end up battling with them over payment because you got a shitty job

it does work great, but when it comes to parts of the roof that will be seen by the homeowner everyday he comes home from work, its not so fun to look at metal cut with a saw... it also starts to rust as opposed to having a clean cut with the metal snips 🤷🏻♂

This is not the snap lock I have looked at. Real snap lock uses metal clips on the side of the panel to hold down the under panel and the top panel snaps over that panel and clip. This type in the video looks like it would come apart in high wind
@holmes1956O that is standing seam I'm pretty sure. These panels have an s groove on one side and an L on the other and that is how they snap together. Our panels have never come off in high winds that I've heard of. But these have a bigger profile than our panels.

The slopes of the two roof sections are very different. You can't match ribs if the slopes aren't the same. Look at the angle the panels need to be cut for the two sides of the valley, you'll see it would be impossible for the ribs to match.
I was fine with this until those screws went into the ridge cap. Right through the panels. There should be snaps or something. The whole point with standing seam is to not have exposed screws.
They usually put a z flashing adhered and screwed with 2sided tape in between the standing seems and rivet to the z tab that overhangs so the rivet is beyond the now enclosed ridge.
You can nail all the trims and panels down with a roofing nailer. If this metal needed to move around so much like people claim, you wouldn’t be putting screws through the top of it with the cap now would you? You wouldn’t be putting 2 to 4 screws in every piece of the Z bar closure directly through the panel if it needed to move around correct? Oh that may be way over you guys head because you’re not even putting cleat in the damn valley!
appreciate the effort but had to stop watching it.. it's just moving along too fast.. trying to see the guy making the cuts but camera is shaking all over the place. Much better if the camera was still and the person making the cuts wasn't hiding the cuts he's doing with his back. Thanks for trying.. I'll find another install video to check out. I can tell you have did this before only because I noticed the exact same shortcuts, I do about 8 to 10 standing seam roofs a year and I think it's the best roofing system on the market when installed correctly but it's also the most expensive, this method might pass for a demonstration inside a building but out in the elements will have a lot of problems when the first storm comes 🤦
So those hand-snipped-by-eye valley cuts are exposed and visible?? 😮 if so, Why not use a neater tool such as a small angle grinder with a thin kerf wheel at least? And didn’t anyone teach this guy how red chalk is indelible? 🤦♂️

You guys don't hem your valley panels into a cleat....???? I don't see how you can guarantee that no water, snow, or ice gets underneath that panel past The Valley.. doesn't seam all that professional to me
I don't think you could hire a guy to work at this speed. Playback at .75 is a little closer to normal but the sound is a little slow. Music should be saved for a music channel. I don't know why they think we want to try to listen to the instruction with the music so loud.
Here in Tennessee snaplock system roughly with trim and underlayment about 450.00 bucks a square and that was last week might be 500.00 a square by this Monday 🤦 thanks Bradon

I've personally never seen red chalk that wasn't permanent, red lines will be there forever, the valley panels should've been hemmed and attached to a cleat with butyl tape. And the cuts look horrible. Also exposed fasteners on this type of system is a no-no. Video quality was also bad

Nothing. I always fold them over and crimp them flat. No exposed raw edge and it cleans it up a lot as well.

How does the snaplock actually snap into place?
This is not the snap lock I have looked at. Real snap lock uses metal clips on the side of the panel to hold down the under panel and the top panel snaps over that panel and clip. This type in the video looks like it would come apart in high wind

Best practice is a valley cleat/keeper should be used up the valley and the panel hemmed so it hooks the cleat. .

5/8 cdx is the best way to go for a home being lived in. For a shed, or garage osb is probably fine

Those ends are supposed to be bent into a hem and fit into the valley flashing hem. Thats what the valley flashing hem is there for.

Valleys should have offset cleats that panels are locked into. This is a really bad installation, that is a basic requirement of standing seam roofing
