Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! I'm hoping I'll be able to utilize this procedure to make some improvements on mine.
Glad it was useful. There are a couple of other people who made videos doing a similar procedure. I followed the one out of the Service Manual. Steering has been fine. I'm still constantly adjusting the left brake band. The quill seal on the left side is bad and I think a small amount of oil gets on the band. Not really looking forward to having to replace the seal.
Great video on how to adjust the steering and brakes
Good job on the gasket. Water / rust destroys those steering clutches and its a big and expensive job to replace.
Hello, what a nice project, a question John Deere 450 track loader
You are stronger than the John Deere 35 track loader
Can you tell me what the difference is, thank you
The 450 is around 3-4k heavier, bigger in size and about 15 more HP. Exact weight and HP differences depend on year and options.
how bad was the steering BEFORE this? my left/right levers have so much play and it barely can turn one direction.
The PO replaced the steering bands and clutches but had not adjusted them in some time. The steering worked but was very slow to respond. The left quill seal leaks when you are on a hill. If oil gets on the brake band steering can still be problematic on the left. Fortunately, I am pretty much flat ground.
Whoo, to much camera movement. Hard to watch what you are doing. Slow and steady would be better. Good job on explaining the procedure.
