You are absolutely damn right .. everything changed after covid.. not only fragrances but the whole world.. now we also can't feel that nostalgic vibes of perfumes which we had before covid..
Once you realise the consumer is the product it will make you think twice. Practice gratitude for what you have, savour it and refuse to buy as an ID enhancer out of weakness
"Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves" (Quran 13:11). We cannot expect change to start from the top, we have to try our best to change ourselves and the people in our circle of influence first.
I enjoyed this talk, like the young ones say now: real talk. I agree with a lot of the things you said, philosophical and also specific to the community. Talking specifically about the community, let’s be honest here if we are watching RUclips videos on fragrances chances are it’s a deep hobby or even addiction. Personally I spent $$$ just in this year alone, and the dopamine hit of finding fragrances that you enjoy is definitely addictive. Will I use or finish all my bottles, I doubt it lol. But I’m starting to shop a little smarter now and am realizing certain pitfalls. Joy I respect your heart, your ethics and your honesty. Your passion is obvious to anyone that watches your videos and I can speak for many I’m sure in saying that you’ve provided a lot of value to people and we all appreciate it. Hope things get better for you, you are one of the real ones.
I got same feeling like you after tried over 100 model. It’s interested game for newbie but if you spend sometimes to invest into note. Almost they are quite similar. 🎉
How can you own 100+ flankers and expect creativity? How can you own 200+ designers and expect creativity? What saves the fragrance world nowadays is the Indie, Artisan and Alternative. Joy has so much redundancy that it must become overwhelmingly boring, I know it's hard as a collector and a reviewer to maintain uniqueness in every fragrance you buy, but if you enter this game willingly, you have to deal with what it has to offer, good or bad.
You have to consider accessibility. In my country it's extremely difficult to smell niche perfume in person. We have zero niche perfume stores aside from a few individual brands themself (E.g. Aesop). The only place to smell perfumes is in department stores, which mostly stock designers. On top of the shipping to remote countries/lots of indie/niche don't ship to my country at all. Joy probably has similar problems
As a recovering fraghead, I’m taking a hiatus from buying new stuff and sampling. I came to the realization that a lot of stuff out there isn’t as good as people make it out to be, or doesn’t smell as good as what I already own. I own what I want, and even more importantly, I WANT WHAT I OWN. Fragrances aren’t all that serious; buying them irresponsibly is absolutely serious. I suggest anyone despairing about how expensive fragrances are listen to what Mr. Joy says. Enjoy what you have, take it easy, and rediscover so many of the great affordable fragrances on the market. Maybe consider branching out into new interests and hobbies. Try drawing, knitting, writing, journaling or sketching. Be thankful for having the chance to be a fraghead, and remember that your bottles of fragrances may run out, but the good memories you had with them are yours to keep.
Well said. I notice that a lot of fragrances are hyped as being great, having great projection and lasting. So far most have disappointed me. And even if there are good ones they get watered down and reformulated. Besides that, who knows the long term effects the ingredients have on health. I have similar feeling about caps. I bought some New Era fitteds after not having bought any in ten years. The quality has dropped severely. Lots of hype and marketing, in the end, customers get squeezed out of their money.
My journey into collecting designer fragrances began in 1994 and i grew out of it in the mid-00's.Perfumes have become too pricey, too samey, too many flankers for a best seller.
This one is a genuine Banger ! Thanks for video and for finding these beauties again and again. It also reminded me of the discontinued Versace Man. Cheers
I agree... The big designers have released nothing but flankers since 2020.. I've gravitated to less popular houses .. fan of lalique, Bentley, rasasi.. and older releases.. fan of boucheron Jaipur, Moschino uomo , early 2000s releases... Also have you tried boucheron singulier?? Wonder if you have done a post on it??
Lalique is such a good and under appreciated house. Personally my favorite “bargain” high quality house. For niche, I pretty much just stick to mancera since they have some unique scents and are somewhat reasonably priced.
We have discovered so many fabulous middle eastern fragrances such as the Fragrance World and Paris Corner “inspired’ fragrances. I don’t have the interest or cash to buy niche or even designer when these houses are killing it with beast mode affordable gems. 💎
Well said Joy bro. I haven't bought any new release bottles in awhile. If anything, I have been selling more. With the prices of fragrances and daily goods as well as multiple releases which make it hard to catch up. I've gotten down from 50+ to 12 bottles. Decants have been helpful tho cause I can still experience a lot of frags and not over spend. These 12 will probably stay but we'll have to see how it goes 🤷♂
I actually stopped buying fragrances over a year ago because there’s way too much redundancy now. Every house is putting out way too many similar fragrances instead of actually innovating new scents and then all the other houses basically copycat the scent in THEIR bottle line. I’ll pick up a few reasonably priced colognes here and there but mainly just get a grail that I’ve always wanted when I find a really good deal like I did recently on Xerjoff Naxos.
I think impression brands sort of upped their game, many brands like lataffa were much more accessible to the western audiences who sort of didn’t wanted to spend a lot of money on a fragrance that didn’t last at all and was hyped as well.
i stopped for a while, i bought a few more i will stop again cant afford it, i have more than enough to tast a lifetime anyways if i use them all up i go back to cheap good Nives , Sanex or other same price range.....is Azzaro Wild Mint out of production ?????
I got into the game watching Jeremy, Carlos, Steven, and you about 2018. 3 to 5 purchases a year. Now with over 25 fragrances and some still in the box… I’m trying to not buy anything until I’m down to about 10.
I hear you but it's hard to be creative when everything is being cloned for a portion of the price. Even you would be deflated if your idea is being used and you're not profiting. I do agree with the pricing issue. Designer prices are out of control and they're making it easier for clone houses to dominate nowadays.
I disagree, I don’t think everything is being cloned, some of the more popular scents are sure but there’s definitely a quality difference. Aventus, BR 540, Tyger, sauvage and a few others seem to be the majority. I’ve bought many clones (more than I care to admit) and some of them are good (a few are great) but the large majority of them are overhyped garbage imo. Right now my favorite clones are: Insurrection 2 wild (pure havane), celestial (ganymade), starman nebula (pure malt), Hercules (Herod), and exclusif tabac (mystery tobacco). But I have easily like 20 others that won’t get used.
This is the perfect headline actually for your current reviews. Endless list after list, wish someone with your knowledge put in some effort in his work. Do some physical labour, join a gym, walk for 40 minutes in continuation to come out of depression. Do some comparisons of clones or originals. Bring in something else to the table apart from list after list
I'm on the road of re discovering old fragrances, eff the designer mainstream brands, that's why I am buying things like Jaipur, Roma, etc. And even those old ones are going up in prices very fast. I am really about to retire from this hobby, I don't like the feeling of being taken for a fool by the designer brands, even mainstream niche houses are releasing shit at higher prices.
Believe me the price of perfumes in Germany is way more than in Bangladesh. I don’t know how the retail sellers in BD sell these perfume at a very low price compared to Germany. Is this all about tax or vat?
It is even more insane in pricing depending in which country you live in as well. For example I live in Central America and a bottle of Creed Aventus cost $770 U.S!!!!😲😲🤑🤯 This is why Joy Amin is my favorite fragrance reviewer, he's real and honest. Thanks Joy for all your great content.
My complaint is there are hardly any if any at all masculine fragrances being made these days, they're mostly Unisex and If they are marketed towards men they're far too sweet.
Hi Joy. I like your channel and I liked what you said but it seems that you have difficulty following your own advice. Please dont buy anymore perfume for 3 months. Watch is also included !!
A few good points and I do enjoy watching some of your videos. However, you've become the Doom-&‐Gloom frag review of RUclips. It seems as if you're stuck and without any evolution. When I watched your earlier videos you were full of energy and motivation. You've lost that fire and desire and you're still in your teenager room. Everything is expensive and will continue to rise as it always has done. Snap out of it and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Just look how other frag reviews have evolved such as Mehdi, GentScents, Chaos and Curly to name a few. You were once my favourite reviewer but you're now lacking in many facets of the reviewing game.

That's always the case.

The person who speaks truth about the tom ford facade.
Let’s be honest. They’re not making and pricing them for collectors of frags
Most people will have 2 maybe 3 frags if any at all
Never thought like that, you are right.
Great video! People need to hear this!👍👍👍

Well yeah, there's your answer: stop buying designer crap. Look for quality fragrances and you shall find them. Easy.
You just made feel so good video today joy.. love u brother

One of your best videos man. Keeping 100%
do you know any fragrance similar to true star men by tommy hilfiger?
Sir same is the case in Pakistan even designer frags have been out of reach

I look for deals if I can't get a good deal then I will wait for the price to come down a little more. If not I don't want it .

Once I started to actually wear them, my urgency to buy decreased

Capitalism- Looking for sales by any means. Now the marketing gimmick is "Elixir" on any new fragrance from the main houses.
Most fragrances come from socialist countries. The biggest capitalist country, the U.S.A., doesn't even get the most releases!🎉😂
@@josephbaggettjr3493 the companies that own these fragrances are profit seeking.

Salvatore uomo signature smells very synthetic! Buyer beware .
Value of money has dropped big time.
