- Fork installation gone awry? If you find yourself unsure of how the bearings, spacers, and compression ring are arranged, hopefully this brief video guide will help. If this is still confusing, please find your local bike mechanic!
Tried the socket method as commenters here said. No matter how I angled the socket it wouldnt straighten out. Pounded it through, bent the tabs back on concrete with a hammer and the bottom row with pliers then used your screw method. Tapping on an angle really did the trick. Thank you as this bike build has been a pain in the rear. Thanks!
Thank you very much, really! That's an ideal video: no hot air, just explanation! Thanks.
Thank u. My local mechanic ruined this steps and my bike handle is now stiff. I will disassemble and follow this steps
You just need to loosen the bolt
@@chickeeewhich
The single bolt in the centre of stem
Thank you, I so needed this.
Same here, the manual doesn't show this part of the assembly. Got stuck
great video . not complicated and visually step for step perfect video. Well done ride up !
Straight to the point and just the video I was desperately in need of!!! Thank you 🙏
Well mine fell out today trying to put it together and can’t find it but this did help !
Thanks for actually showing me
Thank you. Kept doing this wrong and had stupid play when braking 😐🥴
Can you do one for the bottom of the stem / steerer tube too please, I think I'm doing that wrong too...
Real MVP right here
Do you have one showing the bottom?
I know right🤷
It's basically the same. You just need to keep balls up for down part and balls down on upper part like this video
holy fuck why would u make a half video!!!!!!!
Great! My Giant Alias uses these "caged" ball bearing type which are for a 1.25" diameter steerer tube, with 5/32" diameter balls, and there are 20 balls.
Do you add grease. Im about to put a fork on and need to know everthing grease. I have a redline 24in. Its aluminum and the fork was hi strength tinsile. I had a cult) BMX brand ) 26' fork laying around. I would have preferred a 24-in fork but this one's at least full chromo
Hi is their a compression ring on the bottom of headset thank you great video
No there isn't.
thank you i will have to try this right now my headset is all messed up and lose with parts in the wrong place.
Hi, the video was helpful. The only problem I ran into was when I tried putting the last smaller rubber piece (pressure washer with the spacer), it wouldn't go all the way down flush with the other pieces. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Ed
Me too, any new info u discovered?
@@nikolavatkov Yeah me too!
Thanks so much for your video. Do you put grease in the fork and headset or leave everything dry?
Grease the crown race, ang obviously the caged bearings
Oh I think the location of the ball bearing is above, thank you
MVP! Thx for the help
Compression ring was not delivered with 700 bike ? The handlebar is stiff and not posible to turn.lol.
Sometimes the compression ring is spring loaded in the headset and pops out when the fork is installed. If not please contact our support team and share pictures www.Ride1UP.com/contact
I contacted support. They have sent me missing ring next day. All good. Thank you.
What size your caged bering
My first spacer (sort of cone-shaped one) seems to have another small thin ring that doesn't show up in anybody's video, but seems to fit perfectly in an indention in the spacer. Has anyone else seen that small thin ring? I'm assuming it goes with the cone-shaped spacer, but wish it was in some video somewhere.
It should go between 3 & 4 in this picture right? support.ride1up.com/support/solutions/articles/65000172325-core-5-assembly
@@SteveL11 Unfortunately, I don't really remember now. It might be piece number 3 in the photo. Sorry.
Really thanku very much bro. I just needed this video.
Most people are not going to get the joke hidden underneath this video
Dude, I can’t tell which way is up in which ways down from this because you don’t show me the whole frame
My compression ring doesn't go down at all, any ideas?
