      As a Sun's fan this one haunts me a lot. Just with the way that the Rockets executed the poise they showed while the Suns played so tight, especially down the stretch of this one. I think about the "ifs" when thinking about the possibility of having this game won. Like Barkley wouldn't have suffered from a meniscus tear like he did in Game 6 of the series. KJ wouldn't run into hamstring issues from having to carry the team in Game 7, and seeing how the Spurs blew their homecourt advantage in those playoffs I'm certain the Suns would've beaten them. The biggest if is Danny Manning. If Manning hadn't torn his ACL I feel the Suns would've won a championship. So many "ifs" but those Rockets were double tough regardless and deserved that title in both 94&95.

    It’s absolutely amazing how much defense just did not matter against Hakeem. He regularly took the most closely contested, lowest percentage low post and midrange shots, and knocked them down with ease. Jordan flowed around defense or jumped over/used his hang time to avoid it, but Hakeem shot right into it and made shots anyway. Unbelievable skill.

      Sure did. They barely made it out of the first round. It was difficult to watch the better team lose. That being said, I don't think Phoenix would have beaten San Antonio. Spurs had the home court advantage. Manning was out and Rodman would have outworked Barkley on the boards. With the right defensive scheme, the Spurs could have taken down the Magic. Reflecting back on it the Rockets beating the Spurs was terrible and was filled with heartbreak for Spur fans and more heartbreak would follow the next few years. After all that heartbreak the Spurs would end up with Tim Duncan and the rest was history.
      It's interesting to think if the Spurs somehow won it all in '95 it probably alters the timeline, and they never end up with Tim Duncan. They may win 1 title, but they never win 5 without Duncan.

I don't know why but even at that young age of 11 I thought the Spurs would never get back in position to even go back to the WCF. • @maartenvz
      @maartenvz 5 месяцев назад +1

      Brother, the Rockets shot 32 threepointers in this game, did you not watch it?? That's more than the Denver Nuggets and Orlando Magic (2 teams that did very well) averaged per game last season. And the post ups, you have to understand that the 90s had the illegal defence rule where weakside defenders were not allowed to help out if their man was above the free throw line. This made it much easier to post up than in todays game where teams are allowed to play actual team defence. I'm 41 and I love 90s basketball but I also loves todays game as it is more complicated. If you don't agree with that, you are not really paying attention to what is happening off ball and how team defences have evolved.
