We have a 30 yr retirement at our agency. I am at 29 yrs now and have 82 working days left before I can start my wellness leave. Being an LEO was my dream but it has become a nightmare. I am tired and ready to reinvent myself and enjoy life. Go live your best life!
Congratulations!!! I was in dermatology nursing for 20 years . Quit the doctors and started my own business 7 years ago. BEST decision I have ever made. I now have my have a office at a medical center with 3 subcontractors. I do woodwork and furniture artistry as a hobby. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE OWNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS! It’s scary. But with the grace of God and hard work I’m living my dream life. Good luck! You made the right choice. Your work is amazing!
Good for you brother. I did ten years in central Florida and got out like you for mostly the same reasons. Glad I did it but even happier I got out. It a hard transition but you will love it. You don't realize how much wait is taken off your shoulders until you take that vest off for the last time. Good luck to you brother!!
Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you in LE brother. So much hard work/effort goes into applying. The Academy, background checks/investigations etc...FTO evaluation. Only to find out its not for you anymore. I wish you/family the best moving forward. Stay frosty out there!
I get it. Spent twenty years at a thankless Job (corrections) and finally retired. Best advice I would give you is make a schedule and stay on it. Its way to easy to slip into a "I'll do it tomorrow or I have all the time in the world to get it done" Treat your time as if you were working an actual job..Good luck and above all Thank you for your service..
I need to make a schedule so that I can realistically complete a certain number of things in a day. Right now, I'm trying to do everything every day lol
Thank you so much for your service! I lived in the Raleigh area for the last 17 years. I'm sorry to hear NC wasn't doing their best to take care of their officers. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself and your family!
I did 11 years went to three different zip codes like you said and found the same issues at each. I’m jaded and bitter but I’m moving on. Good luck to you.
Good Luck and congratulations! I have just under 5 years until I can retire. I can't wait. You described almost every police department around the USA. Enjoy your extra family time!
Congratulations & good luck on your new adventures. Although not in your neck of the wood... Thank you for your time served. I live near Portland & I honestly don't know why any of the officers still work there. Its so sad.
Congratulations on taking the step. I’ve got 2 more years till I can be around family again and not have to check my schedule for weekends or holidays. Also can’t wait to see a lot of the furniture build’s coming up
Hang in there brother! I applaud you for quitting the dip...not an easy thing to do. Been dipping for 25 years and still going. Quitting is freaking hard! Several friends of mine are LEOs and their stories sound similar to yours. I've always enjoyed your channel. Prayers that you stay strong through this transition and into a career path that takes you far.
You don't like being paid to sit in a car all day and maybe do 10 minutes of paperwork. If you don't like it fuck off and get a real job instead of receiving state handouts?
Good luck brother. I am not a police officer but I’m a none Sworn animal control officer with our local police department with almost 10 years in service and we answer to and are directed by the same Leaders as the police officers. When you started talking, it sounded like you were describing the city I work for. I am working diligently to get to where you are now. Great video.
God bless ya man. Been watching you since I found the corn hole board video couple years ago. I got 15 years left as a Trooper and definitely understand your situation. Be safe
Totally get you! Did it for 24 years and the same problems exist everywhere. I loved my work but hated my "job." Sucks that the powers that be seem to enjoy making the job worse than it needs to be! Good luck to you! Celebrate being out!
Fully understand your decision. It’s one of the hardest decisions I’ve made to leave. You don’t need my input to know your decision was positive but at the end of the day we have to make the choices in which is best for our own situation. It’s a bittersweet crossroad. Just know you are supported by many. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Well I reckon ol Oak City Smoke is gonna be getting in on some of these hogs coming to the farm next year so go ahead and buy you a deep freezer now there boberry biscuit
Congrats. I moved my family from Raleigh to a small town in Texas a few years back and was the best move we could have made. Don't miss the Raleigh-Durham area at all. Cheers and best of luck with your future plans.
Hey, good luck on your next chapter in life. Been on the job for 37 years and have missed so much with my family. The job is no longer what it use to be and I am out very soon. May want to check out 731 woodworks he just did the same thing and quit and went full time. He appears to be doing well, Good luck brother stay focused.
Totally understand , 16 years as a CO. Wish I could do something else, I’m one of many that wish we could get out. Keep your head up and pushing. I just quit smokeless tobacco after 21-22 years, been using Grinds. If you like coffee, worth giving it a try. It’s been 4.5 weeks for me.
I've tried a few quit dips in the past including grinds and they all make me want the real thing more than anything else lol. Cold turkey, gum and sunflower seeds is working out alright so far.
unfortunately you have zero employability and probably no qualifications so being a correctional 'officer' is the best you're going to get. Perhaps you could be one of those losers who check receipts at Walmart.
Amen brother. Utah changed their retirement from twenty years to twenty five and found recruiting to wane. Now they are contemplating going back to twenty years. Retired from the Army and the SO with complimentary gift that only PTSD can give one who has seen the worst mankind does to each other. You will find you will miss the people not the work. Once you get over not being in the know and the urge to talk shop with your family about police work life in your shop will become cathartic and a destination not just a way to pass time until you go 10-41. Love your channel and your drive to improve your life and that of your family.
Warrior woodworking ...you should change your profile pic...RUclips frowns on gang colors and memorabilia...and it shows pride in discussing the flag and the people it stands for
Congratulations buddy and thank you for your service! I felt the same way leaving the Army, loved the brothers, hated the leadership. You will do great things in the future because you have a great attitude and have a great family to support you. Will be here for the ride! 🇺🇸 "Love of Country”
I feel where you coming from man...i did 5yrs active duty military police in the army and even though its not the same as civilian LE(very watered down) i got out for the reasons you're describing. I was going to try LE after the army but i decided not to pursue it. It was my dream since i was a kid but i completely fell out of love with it. Love my current job and hope to one day open my own outdoor shooting range. No shame in walking away and doing whats best for you.
Good for you brother! Been banging this blue line for 26 years and I'll tell ya, it's the same bs everywhere. Good luck with your future endeavors and never forget once blue, always blue. Stay safe brother
Good on you brother. I felt the same way leaving the Army after 12 years. I loved my job but it was time to move on. Things will get better for sure. It will take time to adjust and I know that you will surely start seeing and feeling the benefits soon enough! Thanks for sharing this and I look forward to the great content you will be putting out soon. Best of luck to you and the family!
You are a great woodworking person sir. I watched most of your videos. I wish I had half of your experience. Good luck God bless your heart and your family
I want to quit but I've gotten comfortable with the high pay, low labourous work. My heart just isn't in it anymore. Way too much bs that's affecting me mentally and psychologically. And it's not the bs of the streets, it's the bs and politics. Cops know what I mean by this. I literally want to leave like yesterday. Personally, I wouldn't recommend to anyone whose thinking of being a cop to become a cop especially if you're married or in a serious relationship. The job will destroy your relationship and you will become cynical at some point and it will carry over into your private life.
If you're staying, be an asset, not a liability. Change your mentality or get out. A lot of my negative thoughts toward the job were self-inflicted, and I wasn't able to realize it until I got out. The book "Emotional Survival" by Kevin Gilmartin is excellent. Sounds like the job has negatively impacted a relationship with a significant other (same here), but being real with yourself and fixing your own deficiencies first will make things better. Staying for a paycheck is the wrong answer, and you know that. Don't get yourself or someone else hurt.
Congratulations . Given everything that’s been going on lately bad leader ship at my department bad leader ship at my previous department . The job was changing me I was pushing everyone away in my life I had to walk away to best of luck to you .
Hey glad I found your video I was interested in joining the Durham Police department and I'm going to a hiring event on Thursday. I'm also leaning towards Raleigh PD I want an honest assessment from someone who's actually done it. Hope I can reach out to you some way. Thanks
I feel that, I'm federal, and I had one bad night that got me sent to investigations. I was immediately benched from my position, and no one defended me no matter how hard I tried to make the narrative as factual;t as possible. We don't have body cameras. I was cleared and sent to refresher training, but they wrote me such a bad evaluation that basically said I should; not be retained after my probation period of one year. I have been on for two years now, no issues. Its a high status job and pays well but I'm on the line to if I want to leave or stay?
Four and a half years left. I feel you. I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I am to far in and so close to the finish line that as much as I'd love to call it quits, I'd be a financial fool to jump out now. If I were in your particular shoes, I would have done it to. Wish you the best bud. Been watching you since you started the chanel. Can't wait to see the house and property come along.
Getting close to my 30 year mark. It's been a great ride but your experience is the same across the nation. Stay safe and God Bkess fellas. Arkansas State Police
I see the big Army Flag in the back and I thought about my own views on being a LEO. Why don't I feel like this about the military but when it comes to Policing I am always like bleh? Thanks for the video brother, and I hope my decisions clear up soon 👍NYC is going to hell and I am sure there many great LEOs that are in this void of leaving or not leaving. Stay Safe out there my friends
Did the same as you many years ago. Five years in. NJSP Academy. Assigned to Jersey City NJ. Leadership was chosen on favorites despite the Civil service system. Good luck to you.
That’s cool man my grandmother and mother live in Wake Forest and my aunt lives in Lewisburg my uncle used to be a Franklin county sheriffs officer. I don’t know if he is anymore or not to be honest with you. I live in a small town in Florida called De Soto county, I just filled out my application for the DeSoto county sheriffs office. We will see how it goes. I miss it up in North Carolina big time.
Damn i was 21 now i am 30 and i only lasted 11 months before the budget cuts happened at SoCal and well God knows why and now ill be a soon to be pilot instructor and currently a truck driver doing local dedicated accounts nightshift 2 loads and love it.
There aren't many local law enforcement departments I would apply for and those are in California. I would never apply for local police work in any other state. For starters, the money is pitiful, retirement is terrible, the labor is terrible, and shift work is tiresome. I would strongly advise anyone interested in a career in police enforcement to apply directly for federal departments rather than going local or state. Because your federal time is transferable to any other federal position, even if you decide to leave law enforcement in the future. Furthermore, hundreds of government occupations exist that are not in law enforcement. Just something to ponder. Also keep in mind, anyone who thinks local LE time is transferrable over to federal law enforcement is wrong. 1. stay away from local/state LE 2. stay away from local/state Corrections 3. Apply for federal law enforcement
I started out in Detroit and quit there for pay reasons. I went to a suburb PD which was worse and terrible for my health. I left there and went to a university PD. things got better and my pay went up but the politics and racism at the department just made me hate the job. I'm now heading out west to give this one more chance before I finally leave Law enforcement all together. I don't' blame you brother. Take care of yourself.
I am super happy that you got out of it. Law Enforcement is not what I thought it was going to be. I am 3 and a half years in. I know, just barely into it. There is so much corruption and distrust with your ownd department and other officers sometimes it really gets difficult. I know I'm not in for very long but I've already had a lot of struggles with Other officers and admin. You go by the book and you do wrong you it the way they want it and they use you as collateral for when it goes wrong.
Looking to leave the SO myself 6 years experience, got away overseas for 2 years contracting but hell that was in a actual Warzone. Ready to get out and not going to give the SO 24 more years to retire
It's a long time to give for sure. It's been a little weird being away from it, but overall I'm enjoying not being around all of the constant chaos and negativity.
I finally quit after 26 years because they command staff were going after staff for very minor mistakes. They were taking the side of the criminals and not backing up officers. Officers are now underappreciated, not accepted and not approved of. I was out there following the code of ethics and still be punished for minor infractions. I remained professional and still was micromanaged. So screw it, I am now so much happier.
i have had your mindset for the past few years and tomm is the day im resigning after 14yrs🎉. not worth it for me either. just thought i look up a video for xtra motivation and found you!. cant wait for tomm stay strong and keep on truckin hard charger🇺🇸🫡🥃
Thank you for standing up and telling your story you do have a lot of smartness over the cops licking boots to the high up good for you God bless you and your family
As out late the people I come in contact with on patrol is what really wears me out. People today are so angry with their lives, it comes out in their interactions between officers and citizens. Officers are cussed out daily and then I come home to hear the news bash police. I’m looking for a way out too. Searching for jobs where I don’t have to deal with irate people.
It's sad, because the good ones tend to leave and the bad ones tend to stay on and become upper management. Hey, if you're under 36 and have a college degree, there's always the FBI or DEA. Or you can come to sunny California. Pension vesting with CalPERS is just 5 years. You can then take your big pension and retire in a more tax friendly state.
I retired in ‘97 after 30 years, three OIS, but would never recommend this as a career today. I cannot imagine the pressure from politicians ready to indict & fire you if you make the news. I’ve heard the poor leadership comments before and have no doubt from the stupid promotions I witnessed in my later years. Best of luck in your future.
You said you liked it. You said you were good at it. Something you're not telling us, but I get it, you can't. My guess is< it has something to do with you not taking a certain something. 😉
Have you ever thought of opening a security firm and running it how you want? Sure it’s not a police department but has more and more police officers leave and crime continues to increase the need for armed security officers increase. It’s good money, you control how you run and treat your security officers, and the best thing is you can help a lot of police officers who are no longer active that may not have better options than what God blessed you with. Government contracts are on the rise and you can do a lot of good for your fellow man and yourself.
Congratulations! More videos and a weekly live discussing achievements and goals. Keep the police politics for a Patreon account. Allow us to support you with the Blessings for your journey.
Law enforcement talk about change, while living in the flesh pushing out the one that gave you your calling, God says deny yourself and pick up your cross and fallow him, but we like to live for ourselves Pride seems to rule those in power taking there eyes off of God. God is the way, truth, and the life
With no ill intension at all. I’m a Black British journalist and if you are considering to talk, would be interested. And not a short interview where you feel I am have misconstrued your words, but over a period. I’ll be the first to acknowledge don’t have the best opinion working with Police. Worked previously with Ministry of Justice directly with offenders and police. Trying to get a broader picture of both sides for an article. Want to talk over time. Thanks if you respond and will attempt on IG
I left too, was a cop in CA and now work at usps. So much simpler and less stressful.
You leave a 100k job to make 19 an hour?
I wouldn’t wish a USPS job on my worst enemy so being a Cop must really suck!!

I felt the same way about the military and bounced from that too 😂
Did the same as you many years ago. Five years in. NJSP Academy. Assigned to Jersey City NJ. Leadership was chosen on favorites despite the Civil service system. Good luck to you.
NJSP isn’t civil service? Maybe I’m reading something wrong here..?
Do u know how to weld welders make good money once u get certified
1. stay away from local/state LE
2. stay away from local/state Corrections
I am at the end. Retire this year in eastern nc. Congratulations on your decision
Good Luck 👍🏻👊🏻
Poor leadership is an epidemic in this country.
I can’t wait to leave. Seeing this video is giving me more courage to leave🙏🏽
Given the narcissistic ways of most cities, to include Command Staffs, I wouldn’t blame Cops for packing it in. Atlanta is a prime example.
GOD BLESS!!!!
How can I talk with you offline
Looking to leave the SO myself 6 years experience, got away overseas for 2 years contracting but hell that was in a actual Warzone. Ready to get out and not going to give the SO 24 more years to retire
It's a long time to give for sure. It's been a little weird being away from it, but overall I'm enjoying not being around all of the constant chaos and negativity.
I don’t blame you, you need to do what is best for you. Hopefully you are able to replace the income.
As am I!
i have had your mindset for the past few years and tomm is the day im resigning after 14yrs🎉. not worth it for me either. just thought i look up a video for xtra motivation and found you!. cant wait for tomm stay strong and keep on truckin hard charger🇺🇸🫡🥃
So hard to give up that POWER!! Now you can't abuse people!
🦄 💩
On the same path. Just showing up for a paycheck for now
Hey brother. I would love to connect. 10 years on and I’m barely holding on by a thread
I’m a retired officer. It’s sad to see good people walking away from the job. We are on a downhill slide, that’s for sure.
Thank you for standing up and telling your story you do have a lot of smartness over the cops licking boots to the high up good for you God bless you and your family
I’ve got 20 years and can leave now. I am considering retiring and finding something else to do.
Those BODY CAMERAS :)
What about them? 🤨
I am a security guard wanting to be a cop. Its damm hard
Lol ima come out and say fuck that Covid vaccine ima be a police officer but I’m not taking that bullshit just looking for a place in Florida lbs
Don’t beat around the bush, come out and say it mr keyboard warrior! 😏
The shot. @@cobra6953
OTR trucking hauling heavy haul and equipment... Making the money. once you have a good income you can venture out.
Congratulations! More videos and a weekly live discussing achievements and goals.

Some lives in the future is definitely a great idea! Thank you for the support!
I’m thinking about becoming a cop in Tennessee is it no longer a good career choice thst has family work balance?
Law enforcement talk about change, while living in the flesh pushing out the one that gave you your calling, God says deny yourself and pick up your cross and fallow him, but we like to live for ourselves Pride seems to rule those in power taking there eyes off of God.
God is the way, truth, and the life
I'm not a God-fearing person, so your weird comments are better suited for a different channel 🫡
Remember your a former cop...only you can call yourself an ex cop...
Remember to keep the main thing the main thing, high speed!
Common sense is no longer common practice…. Defend not defund!
That is correct!
Now 2024
Who loves being a patrol officer?
I did (certain parts anyways).
