Abigail really carried the show with her wide vocabulary and eloquence. Spot on descriptions of texture, smell, experience, size, price, presentation, packaging etc. Gladys was a great conversational 'sparring partner' too.
nahhhhh, my students bought us tong heng and tai cheong......I had tong heng first, and it was meh, making me not that excited to try tai cheong, but when I bit into tai cheong, it was BOMB.
Tong Heng if you want a taste of traditional cantonese egg tart. Tai Cheong is a western style egg tart cuz they use a "fruit tart" style crust. The strong eggy smell/taste is how good traditional cantonese egg tarts have always been. Tong Heng for me
Wait till you guys try the super flaky, super buttery, super under the radar and underrated egg tarts from 50年 Taste of Tradition! You will never eat other flaky Portuguese egg tarts ever again!
Thanks for this video was able to try a few places based on your video. Definitely my favorite from your video was Leong Sang, cookie crust, the pastry one was good too but i found it a bit too toasty. I was able to try Tai Cheong as well and I liked it the most during my time in Singapore.
My brother went to Singapore recently and commented how weird the portuguese egg tarts were over there. They're less sweet and the custard is more solid, he said the ones he ate tasted like a croissant with slightly sweet scrambled eggs lol. It's interesting to see how different these are to our portuguese pastel de nata!
I love that both mentioned Hong Kong when asked about their most memorable egg tart experience As someone from HK though the non-flaky tart based egg tarts here in SG have grown on me~
My favourites for Portuguese ones has to be 50 years Tradition available at many bus/mrt interchanges and KFC! For buttery ones, it has to be Tai Cheong!
Best neighbourhood bakery's egg tarts will be from ibread. It's a cross between Portuguese and traditional. Portuguese egg tart filling with a cookie crust. Overall Tai Cheong is still best. No Joy luck please.
Hi, i wanna ask Gladys if her fav egg tart is still Tai Cheong?? Cos i am a huge fans of Tai Cheong too!!! And the last egg tart is so surprising, i stayed near jurong pt but never interested in trying it. But right now, I can’t wait to try it !! Hehe 🤤
Eggy in the sense that it's too 腥. It has to do with the type of eggs and perhaps the recipe of the custard. I understand what she meant. Even plain chiffons or certain sponge cakes and kaya may have the eggy taste if it's not cooked correctly.
NOOOOO TONG HENG EGG TART IS MY ALL TIME FAV EGG TART MY DAD HAS BEEN BUYING IT FOR ME SINCE I WAS A KID. NOW THAT I LIVE ABROAD I ALWAYS THINK ABOUT IT AND WHENEVR I GO BACK TO SG I WILL DEFO GO TO CHINATOWN FOR SOME
i think for egg tarts it varies depending on the crust, sweetness and also the eggy taste that is inside. Food has always been something that can be debate about as we all have different preference and taste on how we want. So to me, as long as its something you like, its always the bomb!
My loves! Please take note of the word ‘Jelak’. It derives from a Malay word. It’s not pronounced as ‘Jelat’. This applies to all videos as well. Sending you guys love and lots of support
Recently tried leung sang ftom the bugis outlet n it was so underwhelming.. even my mum said it was bad. I don't think I can trust the reviews of someone who rated that as #1.. Tai Cheong, Tong Heng is much better..
Ermmm… how can you honestly compare a legitimate egg tart and a mentaiko egg tart and say the latter is better? It’s like saying limes are better than lemons
Not a fan of Tong Heng's here. Don't fancy the crust and the egg custard taste diluted to me haha! Love Tai Cheong too. The best tarts I've tasted are from Hong Kong. The recent nice flaky tart I've tried was from JB, the popular Oriental store.
What type of egg tarts do you like?/ Which bakery do you want to try?
I forgot the shop name, but I really want To try it
I want to try " Mother in law egg tart "
Tai Cheong is hand is on best egg tart I eaten
Butter and cream at lao pa sat has chocolate and salted egg lava egg tarts! The crust is literally a butter cookie ! Must try!
For me ibread is the best

If you guys think egg tarts from tong Heng is bad, I don’t think I can trust your reviews.
Tong Heng egg tarts are the bombs
nahhhhh, my students bought us tong heng and tai cheong......I had tong heng first, and it was meh, making me not that excited to try tai cheong, but when I bit into tai cheong, it was BOMB.
Agree. People who don't like Tong Heng obviously shouldn't be reviewing any types of food.
Gabriel Ng, precisely.
So true. I felt like this guide is based on their taste, not based on if it is nice or not.
Tong Heng if you want a taste of traditional cantonese egg tart. Tai Cheong is a western style egg tart cuz they use a "fruit tart" style crust. The strong eggy smell/taste is how good traditional cantonese egg tarts have always been. Tong Heng for me

Gladys is such a natural in front of the camera. I love this pairing!! Gonna try Chloe’s Rec!!

I love that both mentioned Hong Kong when asked about their most memorable egg tart experience
As someone from HK though the non-flaky tart based egg tarts here in SG have grown on me~
Yea Fancy Delight was damn good! They used to have many locations but have closed down a lot of them and only 2 outlets are left in SG.
My favourites for Portuguese ones has to be 50 years Tradition available at many bus/mrt interchanges and KFC! For buttery ones, it has to be Tai Cheong!
best braised duck rice, best yong tau foo, best nasi lemak, best tomyum soup (green curry also can)~
Best neighbourhood bakery's egg tarts will be from ibread. It's a cross between Portuguese and traditional. Portuguese egg tart filling with a cookie crust. Overall Tai Cheong is still best. No Joy luck please.

I LOVE TAI CHEONG & I STAND BY IT ✊ it will always be my no.1 🥹 please go try Mother-In-Law egg tarts, unique & tasty too!! - Gladys
KFC’s Portuguese egg tart is the best!
Agree!
but it's egg tart. it's supposed to be eggy
Precisely why some ppl shouldn’t do reviews. Egg tart is too eggy 🙄 What next? Durian puff is too duriany? 🙄🙄🙄
Exactly
i mean spicy food can be too spicy. Mala can be too "Ma" or "La". Fish soup can be too fishy. Butter cookies can be too buttery. Must have balance mah
Eggy in the sense that it's too 腥. It has to do with the type of eggs and perhaps the recipe of the custard. I understand what she meant. Even plain chiffons or certain sponge cakes and kaya may have the eggy taste if it's not cooked correctly.

can try 50 years tradition. their portugese egg tart was damn good
second this. very under rated and better than so many of the hyped up ones. the flaky crust is da bomb
Floss bun episode? (Maybe heh)
Brings me back to Belem! Chloe, if you like the flaky kind of egg tarts, you must find your way to Portugal some day! The quality is just different.
Pasteis de Belem isn't quite exactly the same as egg tarts. They are more "custard tarts" than egg tarts.
There use to be a Macau store at nex selling nice egg tart but it close down dont know if they still exist in Singapore
Oh yaa what happened to the cup style egg tart?? It was my fav but suddenly just wnt missing
Someone please update us about Fancy Delight 😭🙏

Ermmm… how can you honestly compare a legitimate egg tart and a mentaiko egg tart and say the latter is better? It’s like saying limes are better than lemons
