I can agree, but only if #2 is 2001 Va Tech and #3 is 2001 Boston College. Let's face it, Miami was the best in 2001. They might even be a top 10 team of all time, but they sure struggled against a couple 4 loss teams.
@@JG-hb4pw Just did some stat checking to confirm, you are wrong they didn't struggle that season. Struggling is when you can't find a way to win or move the ball, struggling is when 2 out of 3 phases of football struggle. Let's take a look at the 2 games that were played close against VT & BC. Both were on the road in hostile rivalry situations. The VT game only was close in the last part of the 4th quarter because of VT great defense & special teams play. The BC game had crazy swirling northeastern winds and Dorsey didn't have his best game. Those 2 were the almost losable games they had the whole year. Chalk it up to new coaches that didn't yet have the experience to devise a weather-based game plan. If this was still Butch Davis coaching with the updated offense that they incorporated then its a different story. Remember the DC, OC & HC all were first-year coaches in their positions. Think about that when you realize just how great the TEAM was. A seasoned head coach would have solved those "struggles" Extra facts: BC went into their Bowl game and beat ranked Georgia. VT: HC Frank Beamer with DC Bud Foster & OC Rickey Bustle had been together for 7 seasons. Miami hadn't won @VT since '92. VT was a 2 loss team when they played Miami & they were ranked.
@Radza They definitely had potential to be the greatest. I can’t imagine how unstoppable they would’ve been with an elite QB. I agree that a better coaching staff could’ve elevated their play too. 2006 USC was very similar with skill (not as good tho). Coaching is very important for in NCAA, which can be the difference in who I would take as an all time great. This 2001 Miami team is def in my top 10.
Watching these games back actually shows how poor of a QB Dorsey was, his offense truly carried him , imagine if Brock had this same offensive talent WR wise
Nah Brock look bad lining up under center in the pro. Dude played in a spread his whole career. He looked his best at UM in the shotgun. Brock also looked like trash VS VT. I agree about Dorsey though. He look bad in some games like BC and VT. Defense and running game picked up the slack.
