    You are such a treat, Paul! ❤
    I agree with you 💯% it was as if there were two paintings in one. I do like the way you solve the problem. However, I wonder what would’ve happened if you added a phthalo blue or cerulean on the black & white side of the ocean?
    Also, the conceptualism behind the two different sides could provide you with quite the thesis in art school. 😂 I’m going to give myself PTSD if I don’t stop.
    Anyway, thanks for a wonderful painting and lesson. 🥰 Looking forward to your next. 😉

      Thank you Robyn. Food for though on my next paintings. Maybe I'll play with the first (now dry version) I can't break it anymore than it already is. Do you ever paint to destruction just to find the weak spots. Its something I would do often before teaching a class. Better that I make all the mistakes before I took a class of 12 down the same blind alley. Have a lovely week 😍

      @@PaulRansonArt I do paint until destroying the piece but typically not on purpose 😂. It’s brilliant of you to anticipate problems with a painting prior to demonstrating the “how to.” There is something humbling to making art when you royally screwing up a canvas. Sometimes there is no helping it and it best to getting out the gesso and resetting the canvas.
      Speaking of taking your class down a blind alley; have you ever asked everyone to paint blindfolded? 😎

    As I watched Bob do it, i was picking up on ways on how to improve it and then I saw you do it. Good job. Although I would have added visible clouds behind the orange glow of the lighthouse which would contribute to picking up that glow. If not, the glow could not exist since the light would get lost in the empty sky. Let me know your thoughts. ❤

    • @PaulRansonArt
      @PaulRansonArt  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, you're absolutely right. If there were no moisture in the air there would be no aura or light behind the lighthouse. But that's the beauty of being an artist. As Bob would say 'It's your world' 😉😉 So I imagined a little misty area for my lighthouse to glow against. Keep on watching and learning and painting your own version of Bob's classic scenes - Paul 😎😎😎😎

    Can you consider more clouds and waves- seascapes- please-
    What brand canvas do you use?
    I do think the Ross brand is best- and the Fedrix is as well- however- Fedrix is expensive-
    I’ve tried many good brands- and found Bobs canvases (besides Fedrix) are best- even when painting Alla prima - like Kevin Hill style- I’ve tried his canvas brand - (the weave of canvas is different not great at all) too many spots of canvas weave within them- and the weave is too harsh- has a vertical weave as well- the Ross surface is wonderful-
