I also consider myself a slow/average reader and I am trying to speed it up a little so these are some really great tips! I know part of my problem is getting distracted easily and just walking away for a bit or picking up my phone lol
Hahaha lol! I can totally relate!! I think audio books were a game changer for me bc I was “persuaded” to keep reading! Thank you so so much for watching!! 💕
Great tips in theory, now I just have to see if it works. The tip about reading down the page with you finger reminds me of my speed reading class. I left that class reading 2000 wpm. Got nothing out of the books and it was no fun. No time to spend with the characters. But I will try all your other tips. Thank you. Reading with the audio! Love that one.
Great information! I'll definitely try these techniques to read faster. And, by the way, your English is beautiful and very good. ❤ well done on a great video!😊
Aw! Thank you so much!! I’m incredibly glad this helps! Yay! Slow readers…unite! Try it out little by little and maybe with a book that it’s not very hard in terms of worldbuilding? haha let me know how that goes!!
Great video as always! I was planning to try the second one soon, but I feel like the first book I'm trying it on will be at disadvantage and I can't choose which one to sacrifice 🙈 I have unknowingly been using trick 4 for RUclips videos, and it has now gotten to the point where I can't listen to normal speed anymore, it makes me feel like people are speaking unnaturally slow. x1.75 is what feels the most natural now, which is 🤯. Enjoy your holidays 😊! (for the first three days at least, then 😱😳 -4🔥)
Thank you so much for watching!! 💕- haha I was surprised at how much I actually comprehended with trick 2! I also thought that whatever book I pick it would be “a lost read” but in truth if you do it gradually, it should be fine!! Hahaha thank you so much!! I’ll use those first 3 days as if the only ones 🤣🤣
Because I’m also not a English native speaker I learned methods to read faster when I decided to start to read again. I’ve used and use all the methods you described and some. Great video 👏
@@FunFantasyBooks I Om to avoid subvocalization. I use the finger but don’t follow the line, I divide the page in columns use the finger to guide my eyes and use peripheral visual. What you said about threshold I use it for reading. Kwik has exercises to raise your reading threshold. This last one is what worked the best. I also use the line in the Kindle app to help. I’m would like to do your audiobook exercise but I use Anyplay, and it only goes up to 1.75 😂
I must be the slowest fantasy reader on the planet. It takes me about 4 days (8 hours) to a 600 page fantasy novel. I only read on kindle due to my wrists, I can no longer hold a 600 + page book for a given period of time. So hopefully this will speed me up.
Oh man! That is definitely not in the slow side! 600 pages in 8h feels fast! I read just the dragon reborn which is around 600 and it took me around… 10?
Thanks for these tricks! I have the feeling that I read too slow too, I will definitely try some of them! I'm not really into audio books yet, but that really makes sense, so I may give it a try! Out of curiosity, how do you measure your words per minute? I'm sacred of measuring mine 🫣😬
Thank you for watching!! Yay! Let me know which tricks do you use and how that goes!! To measure your reading speed, you’ll need to set the timer for 1 minute and read normally for that time! Then you’ll need to count how many words you’ve read (you can do an abstraction by counting how many words each line has and the number of lines per page) - that’s the “words per minute” (wpm) measure! Anyway I’ve linked in the description 2 pages where you can get your reading speed automatically!! 💕
I don't know how I ever listened to audiobooks at 1x, it's soooo slow to my brain.
Hahahaha agree!! But I bet you are a rapid reader!? ♥️
@@FunFantasyBooks I do ready pretty quickly

This was such a helpful video. I’m a slow reader too. I have done immersive reads with audiobooks, but not at that speed. 😂 I’ll try these out.

Wow that's awesome.
Were you a fast reader from the beginning or is it practice or a trick ( can you share please) ?
