This performance is beyond words!! Cant wait to see him this march with Tchaikovsky 1st Piano Concerto. One of the most incredible pianists alive in my opinion.
This is the first time I hear this piece . Mr Trifonov transports us to a place where Chopin and Rachmaninov meet face to face . The sound he produces is almost orchestral . I have more than once thought I was listening to a concerto not solo piano . What strikes me most though is how true he is to the inner soul and sentiment of Rachmaninov . The variable textures that his thin fingers produce are both amazing and delightful . what a treat !
Bravo for your comment and I think you captured that performance. I also got the feeling that Rachmaninov really went to Chopin in this composition and tried to lift him and support him, to help him stand and find contentment and pure happiness hat seemed to have escaped him all his life, especially regarding finding a match from the other sex, women let him down. Rachmaninov is turning a beautiful but dreary and frightening fatal theme into something cheerful and hopeful and gets there. But out of respect he repeats Chopin's theme at the end. An amazing homage to Chopin by Rachmaninov.
I think rachmaninoff was in love with Chopin, and loved what either or both of them might have done with this piece. That great respect, admiration and love is visible throughout this performance.
Daniil is incomparable in this piece. In particular, variations 6 (3:25) and 21 (12:52) contain all the beauty, tenderness and melancholy of this world!
Fuck me this guy can REALLY play. He really brought me into he music. I love how even in the fastest sections, I can still hear EVERY individual note, his touch is amazing.
Not claiming to have any insight into his mastery but i think his daring is in tune with his technique while other pianists will give all notes same importance out of insecurity, not daring to forge their path in the musical forest of the score and hiding behind the notes (and make an impressive mess which makes them feel secure), but a true artist comes naked and shows his musical choices with the score, and is not playing to prove himself but to dare to show how he hears the score and does not give a f about looking vulnerable in the process.
I like the way he is enjoying every note, or sometimes a vast seriouness just shows all his concentration, or the way he gets excited at some parts. I feel like, now these years, everyone just hid all of their emotions maybe thinking it will be cringe or shameful or funny to look at, I think life is too short to worry about that, I know its hard to be yourself or show TRUE emotion, but I promise that if you do it, living will surely feel more refreshing

His eyes are closed, and for some reason I don't see the sheet music for this composition. That emotions are amazing and inspiring. Very demanding piece played like no one before. This man is so excited about this music. He lives in this piece! I think this is much harder than Szymanowski's "Piano Sonata No. 3, Op. 36". I'm listening this everyday. This piece still hurts me emotionally. I love this dynamics progression. It reminds me the tears falling down and some of the worst and painful moments of my life. The imagined situation worsens, the tension increases until the 8:46 moment and everything totally explodes! yeah because nobody ever played it like it should be played until he did. Not so sad, hopefully there are still plenty of misunderstood compositions that will be revealed by a genius musician like Trifonov for our delight.
I find myself not thinking too much about Chopin in this work. Rachmaninoff has completely transformed and developed the original material into his own unique tapestry of inspiration. Thank you, Daniil for being the stream where this inspiration flows!
more exactly that could be summed up as he is recomposing the piece, and that is what all musician should do, and used to do back when being a musician couldn't be without composing your own pieces as well as studying others.
I really appreciated this wonderful performance. I always liked the Prelude. Rachmaninoff drew out some of its possibilities. What a sweet smile and beautiful hands the boy has. Thank you Daniil.
rich cultural country...Italy lives on its past, nowadays less & less young people go to classical concert,it's matter of education by family and school above all. No music in primary school at all, just one hour a week in the middle school and again nothing in high school. And Italian television broadcasts concerts practically at night. It sucks

I find myself not thinking too much about Chopin in this work. Rachmaninoff has completely transformed and developed the original material into his own unique tapestry of inspiration. Thank you, Daniil for being the stream where this inspiration flows!
Beyond words.
He is listening to what the composition is saying, and showing it physically and sonorously ... the perfect interpreter
more exactly that could be summed up as he is recomposing the piece, and that is what all musician should do, and used to do back when being a musician couldn't be without composing your own pieces as well as studying others.
Brilliant! The Genius!!
Bravo Daniil!
wonderful performance. Ein großartiger Musiker
Such beautiful control in the dynamics. A very fine performance. :)
All I can say is :"Thank you Daniil Trifono". 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 (Netherlands)
I really appreciated this wonderful performance. I always liked the Prelude. Rachmaninoff drew out some of its possibilities. What a sweet smile and beautiful hands the boy has. Thank you Daniil.
The music we have, but don't deserve
Dov'e il pubblico ??? Where is the public ??? For such a rich cultural country, Italy is going quickly into the abyss ;-(
good thing they are not there, less "caugh-caughs" in the quiet parts.
rich cultural country...Italy lives on its past, nowadays less & less young people go to classical concert,it's matter of education by family and school above all. No music in primary school at all, just one hour a week in the middle school and again nothing in high school. And Italian television broadcasts concerts practically at night. It sucks
The Italians who were not at this performance didn't deserve to hear it.
toda la emoción! TODA!
Stuning!!❤❤❤❤❤
I LOVE this work!... Trifonov gives imo a compelling, and overall extraordinary account here. I was transfixed throughout! BRAVO!
Done beyond what words can give brilliantly excuted❤❤❤😊
GORGEOUS and magical play , thanks a lot maestro from this jewel !
Absolutely fabulous! Haven’t heard something like this for a long time. Bravo 👏
He's doing such a great job! Such fervor in his movements.
I can't help to think that his completely authentic and profound emotion theatricals add a lot to his performance but they're only icing on the cake, as his touch and orchestral sound variety and clarity are true musical artistry.
STUNNING!
Merci Daniil ... juste merci ...
It must have rained on the stage. a rain of passion!
