My thoughts exactly. When in doubt it's almost always money. I'm sure it costs a lot less to produce a bike with a single cylinder vs 4 or even 2 cylinders. Not a bad idea really because they can use the excuse that a single cylinder engine produces more torque down low. If you look up the specs of the 250RR vs the new 250R, the older one has better brakes and, obviously, a much cooler engine. It had like 40hp I think, vs the 25 the new one puts out. It revved to almost 20,000 RPM and sounded like a supersport bike to boot. I would have loved to have gotten one of those new back in the day.
Ive had one of these for a year. I commute 30min on an 80km/hr road in the morning and 20min on 110km/hr in the afternoon. Ive ridden it in the dry and rain and its awesome. Heaps of tourque plenty of power from 1500rpm hardly ever stalls. Turns on first time everytime no stuffing around with chokes. In the twisties its really flickable. Since its a single cylinder its got heaps of compression braking so you need to learn blipping or you compression lock the back wheel. I have ABS worth it!
yes because it's light, so more confidence on stopping. also it doesn't have a ton of power so it won't slip out on you just from throttle touch.. it's got a 30in seat height so you can be short and still have you're feet touching.. and the specs on honda's website says it gets 77mpg so it'd be a great first bike.
I'm legally allowed to drive any cc. I just depends on whether or not the insurance company will insure you. There is a 16 year old that rides a 2000 ZX-6R at another school near me.
The 2011 CBR250R has got me 67 miles to the gallon on the highway while going a steady 70mph. Me and my father went on a trip from Vegas to Cali with no problem. (The Slip-On Exhaust gave me a better mileage)
if it just starts smoking it means it gets too hot and it overflows, my dirtbike does the same thing, there is no overflow container so it just steams out of the radiator
I do have an urge to move up to a 600cc but I still haven't learned all the fundamentals of riding a motorcycle. I learn something new everyday and until I feel that I have learned every possible thing from my bike I don't feel like I should move up.
Not in NSW... you can only ride bikes which "Have an engine capacity not greater than 660ml." Also there's a restricted list of bikes that are less than 660 but have a high power to weight ratio.
I believe it's really up to the person, right now at the moment I shift when I hit 6,000-7,000 rpm. You'd be surprised, at that time I got 81mpg city riding.
yes he does but the power in these little bikes come from the bottom end. its kind of good if you want to acelerate real quick especially for this bike.
21. We're down at south point every Thursday for midnight bowling haha. I got 2 buddies that ride, one on a cbr600 (just got it today) and another on a gixxer 1000.
@christrails This bike is more than good enough for you to handle. This is my first bike and had no prior motorcycle experience. It has turn indicators on the dash for both left and right signals unlike the Ninja 250's. It also has a gas meter unlike the Ninja 250's "Low Fuel Indicator Light". I'm comparing this bike to the Ninja 250 because they are competitors for the 250cc sportbike class. Hope this helped.
I live in Las Vegas, I believe you have to be 16 to get a motorcycle. As for the CC limit it is a yes and no. There is no law regulating what CC bike you can ride, It just depends on whether the insurance company will accept you or not. For a 16 year old I doubt the insurance company will insure you on a 600cc supersport.
I have sat on the Ninja 250 but it just felt cheap and didn't feel right. I bought my bike brand new. The reason you can't find the used CBR is because it's literally a brand new motorcycle for 2011.
The #1 reason for engines to go bad is because people don't let the engines warm up. let it warm up by its self for a few minutes then ride is slow, get the oil moving. then after a mile or so you can push it.
Yeah it's not like the forks are destroyed by the speed bumps, but it's just unnecessary wear and tear on the suspension since you can just go around them on a motorcycle
After my drop with bike and road rash, I don't go anywhere without my gear, i feel a lot more safer on it. And without gear now, I feel worried what will happen if i do drop it again.
OMG YOUR SHIFTING!!!! What do you do with your helmet while in school/ Do you do anything to make sure your bike does not get stolen/ Why did you not talk to the hot chick?
I just got out of a relationship that's why haha. I carry my helmet with me or put it in my locker. And nobody is going to steal a bike from a school cause not many high school kids ride bikes.
Jake Dallas Someone who want's to steal something is gonna give a fuck where it's at. I live in NYC, I have seen maybe 4-5 people on bikes in the entirety of manhattan and have never seen one in my borough, that's with 8-9 million people living in this city and my bike has been stolen multiple times. When I was in highschool for my last few months I also took my bike, and guess what? It got stolen, no one rode, and I only went to school for an hour. Shit happens unfortunately.
I was seriously trade in my 250R for the older 250RR. 18,500rpm redline and 4 cylinders! You can have so much fun with that. If I was you, i'd go for it.
in south aus my mate just got a 650 kawi, i think it's because of its low power:weight ratio.. but i just moved to portland in america and got an 07 r6
I have not considered the ZX6R because i've sat on them a couple of times at the dealership and they just felt very cheap. I love the power of the Kawasaki, but never really thought Kawasaki as a reliable company. I like the reliability of Honda and I like the Suzuki's dedication of making their bikes better every year.
@christrails I already have an aftermarket exhaust on it, you'll still get the same exact sound as my bike due to the single cylinder.. You should look up the 4-cylinder ancestor "CBR250RR".
Just the fact that with the 50cc i meant a moped, not a sportbike. What I'm trynna tell is that you really gotta respect the thing you're sitting on. Dome people just got their license, then they buy a really highpowered bike and end up either getting their license taken away because they speed too much or crash. A cbr600rr is a nice bike. As you mentioned: Noboy NEEDs to start on a 250. I truely agree with that, but for some people it's best.
im guessing he was waiting for the bike to warm up sense it is cold and its not good to run any engine cold or before the oil has fully reached all areas it needs to be
I have, I also watch these videos (And some of my own on my gopro) to feel like I'm riding. But as I look at my window, I see 2 feet of snow outside!:(
nice vid i've always wanted to know if there where a lot of ppl who ride their bikes to school. I just got my bike and I'm in college but I get worried about ppl vandalizing my bike... I guess i would just have to park in a wide open and visible area... and good question @ RantZ_IE, "what do you do with your helmet at school?"
Man this thing rides beautifully. I've been thinking about getting one of these for my first bike, just to commute to college and around town. Only thing is, my dad, who's been riding most of his life says that at 6'3'', a 250 might be too small for me lol. Any thoughts?
I am planning on getting a 2012 Honda CBR 250R too since I heard it's a great beginner bike. Still undecided on the color though...I like your red bike but I also like the new Tri-tone color. Also undecided on the exhaust.
I liked your vid! I was also curious as to why you hit those speed bumps so much faster than normally would be done.... Are the shocks / springs on that bike really good where it won't harm the bike at all? Or what... I am just wondering because I want a CBR 250 =) I want the Blue/White/Red colored one. How is the bike overall? Exceeded your expectations for a 250 or less than so? Let me know your thoughts!
Thump up for safety and knowledge bro. People in the SEA consider 250cc bike big, so don't mind about the cc, ít's the fun you can get. Can't wait to have mine
My son was 15 when he rode my 2015 Harley Street Bob :) i miss my son so much he died recently after new year not from riding bikes but at work :( thanks for sharing mate loved it. Reply
Ions day I rode my R6 to school and someone pushed it over while I was in class, good think there was only minor mirror damage to it. Since then nothing ever happened again.
They are very much dead even in terms of power, friendliness and reliability. Hey great video man... Really enjoyed :), i just a question.. I'm 18, This is how old you have to be to get your bike/car license in Australia, I already bought my self a car, and am very keen on getting my self a bike, I have 9 grand to spend, i want a 250, I was thinking a 1995 CBR250RR i know they for around 5-6 for a nice clean one, what do you think?
haha i love this kind of videos too. i'm from germany and it's always refreshing to see how people from all around the world commute to work/school. it's always something else
i just thought of something funny. when school comes alot of people ride a 50cc scooter im gunna role behind a guy and give it a nice big rev.cause for some reason my bike dont have no rev limiter
err... no the #1 reason would be improper maintenance which is common among both two wheels and up. People just don't understand that an engine though powerful is delicate and if you want it to last many years it can if you take care of it. 1. give it fuel that is recommended and never change it different mixes can cause damage. 2. if it has a problem get it fixed don't ignore it. 3. get it's oil changed on time. like your child you want the best care and products.
Dude you're not going to get anywhere fast if you change gears like that. Let the revs increase before you shift.
That's what I'm screaming
I noticed the same
I realize this is late but its my first time seeing this video; You're right and its annoying me XD
I hope that one day, bike producers will start doing 4 cyl 249cc engines again. This lawn mover sounds horrible...
My thoughts exactly. When in doubt it's almost always money. I'm sure it costs a lot less to produce a bike with a single cylinder vs 4 or even 2 cylinders. cbr250rr google it
LOL BETTER LOWN MOWERS 😇
The day has come brother
All those kids walking be hating..lol
Someone start a go fund me page to get this man a new exhaust
Skip to 8:46 for real bandidos

You may want to look into that more, its when the oil doesn't splash up into the cylinders.
If uour radiator is smoking, there may be a leak or small crack in your coolant system. Check your engine temp as you ride. Learned that the hard way.
skip to 1:24 for actual riding
The 2011 CBR250R has got me 67 miles to the gallon on the highway while going a steady 70mph. Me and my father went on a trip from Vegas to Cali with no problem. (The Slip-On Exhaust gave me a better mileage)
if it just starts smoking it means it gets too hot and it overflows, my dirtbike does the same thing, there is no overflow container so it just steams out of the radiator
If it has the bigger piston it is not 49cc
Hey I know a Las Vegas prison... I mean high school when I see one.
I do have an urge to move up to a 600cc but I still haven't learned all the fundamentals of riding a motorcycle. I learn something new everyday and until I feel that I have learned every possible thing from my bike I don't feel like I should move up.
7:08 Boy stop showing off 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Booyyyyy if you don’t... 🤦♂️😂😂😂
pro tip:go right next the curb and there is a gap big enough for your wheel so you dont have to hit the speed bump Shoyukun89123
Not in NSW... you can only ride bikes which "Have an engine capacity not greater than 660ml." Also there's a restricted list of bikes that are less than 660 but have a high power to weight ratio.

I believe that statement would vary from one person to another. I feel vibrations in the handlebars at 65mph, but not to the point it would bother me.
The #1 reason for engines to go bad is because people don't let the engines warm up. let it warm up by its self for a few minutes then ride is slow, get the oil moving. then after a mile or so you can push it.
Thanks, I'm 6'2 215lbs and losing lbs due to ROTC. It'll probably come down to the test ride between this and the ninja 250r.
Plus, may I say that I have heard that they are a lot of fun because of how light they are.
He was having a dig at what was being said about the little 49cc choppers during the video.
Before redline lol. Read your manual man, it tells you when you should shift. Though, generally you want to be around 3-4k RPM cruising.
650, depends on the power to weight. Most bikes are detuned.
RantZ_IE who the fuck is going to steal a bike in a school parking lot...
Jake Dallas Someone who want's to steal something is gonna give a fuck where it's at. I've had my CBR250 since November of 2011. And yes I agreed to start with a 250. (I'm a big Honda fan so had to go with CBR)
I was seriously trade in my 250R for the older 250RR. 18,500rpm redline and 4 cylinders! You can have so much fun with that. If I was you, i'd go for it.

Coincidentally, I also have a gray hatchback yaris and a small engine bike, only difference its a ninja250R.
and you have videos of you riding your 250, or bike for that matter, anywhere?
honestly i would have loved to ride a bike like that to school!
if it was to have a bigger piston the nominal bore of the cylinder would have to be bigger to fit the piston, therefore making it over 49cc
Both the Ninja and CBR 250's are amazing beginner bikes.
ey bro, heard you can drill holes in the exhaust makes it sound alot meaner, check out some vids for it
That must be fun to have friends you go rid on the weekends with. I'm going to get a Ninja 250r for my first bike.
Where do you keep your riding gear during the school day?
Locker
+jack Demarco On the locker
Only the euro versions are. The U.S. versions are still carbed sadly. :(
im guessing he was waiting for the bike to warm up sense it is cold and its not good to run any engine cold or before the oil has fully reached all areas it needs to be
I have, I also watch these videos (And some of my own on my gopro) to feel like I'm riding. But as I look at my window, I see 2 feet of snow outside!:(
Yup, I live a few minutes from South Point. How old are you?
yup thats deft west vegas.
For wheelies try pulling in the clutch and giving it gas do it at a low speed
Sometime this week.
I'm 11X-Ray. I'm going to be stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia for basic. What's your brother up to now?
when I was 16 in grade 9 LOL because I failed I use to ride my 1999 Yamaha r6 every day to school
You'r viacle laws are awsome you can get a car at 16 and a 600cc bike at 16 if i want a 600cc bike i have to wait till the age of 22
+care tadej a 16 year old can hop on a hayabusa for all we care.
nice vid i've always wanted to know if there where a lot of ppl who ride their bikes to school. I just got my bike and I'm in college but I get worried about ppl vandalizing my bike... I guess i would just have to park in a wide open and visible area... and good question @ RantZ_IE, "what do you do with your helmet at school?"
Bama Gixxer people do ride bikes to school, I recommended getting a chain and putting it on a pole so no one takes it
Man this thing rides beautifully. I've been thinking about getting one of these for my first bike, just to commute to college and around town. Only thing is, my dad, who's been riding most of his life says that at 6'3'', a 250 might be too small for me lol. Any thoughts?

Squids as far as the eye can see!!
I liked your vid! I was also curious as to why you hit those speed bumps so much faster than normally would be done.... Vegas, right? You're a few miles off Sunset if I'm not mistaken.
Did any one watch this in 2016 New Year's Eve 9 53 and see his phone and look at the description and finally realized it was posted in 2012
Thump up for safety and knowledge bro. People in the SEA consider 250cc bike big, so don't mind about the cc, ít's the fun you can get. Can't wait to have mine
That guys exhaust sounds like a lawnmower haha
Brandon Cheez it's sounds like a dirt bike instead sport bike
Oh, so far I've only ridden a motorcycle so I don't really know how dirt bikes sound. I really wanna take one to the desert sometime though
A dirtbike is a motorcycle
it doesnt matter u still need to warm up the engine to operating tempature like the r6 will shut of if u dont warm up the engine
is that a high school? if so damn that looks like a nice place and there are that many people with motorcycles?
Was that a clutch wheelie at 11:22
haha i went to that high school, that kid at lunch, his name is monaco, so trippy to see this

hahaha so true bro! in few months ..god willing i will get a 2013 cbr 250r!
it's not about how big it is... but how well you use it ;)
I ride a 300cc...
Awesome vid dude, what does your bike top out at?
Awesome. Thanks for the info.
nothing wrong with a 250, its a great learning bike. But I wish they would do something with the sound, it reminds me of driving my old lawn mower.
Ions day I rode my R6 to school and someone pushed it over while I was in class, good think there was only minor mirror damage to it. Since then nothing ever happened again.
Those "choppers" sounds luke my little suster KLX 110 dirtbike aha
This bike sounds so good for a 250. I like, how much?
This video takes you back in time.😂
ehh his fork seals are brand new and I doubt it will pose a threat to them or any other part of his suspension ANY time soon
It's not the size of the bike that makes the difference, it's the attitude.
They are very much dead even in terms of power, friendliness and reliability.
If you are in the US, know that CBR has an ABS version (insurance companies give you a discount for this), has fuel injection (Ninja in the US still has carburetor) and has newer tech and instrument panel. Ninja on the other hand is a tried and true bike with a LOT more aftermarket parts.
In the end go for the bike that YOU feel is right
Chain it?no you park it in the parking lot. so no one steals it you just turn your key to the lock position. your backpack and textbooks go on your back.
Are you going to upload anymore videos?
haha i love this kind of videos too. i'm from germany and it's always refreshing to see how people from all around the world commute to work/school. it's always something else
is this in Las Vegas? The landscape looks familiar.
i just thought of something funny. when school comes alot of people ride a 50cc scooter im gunna role behind a guy and give it a nice big rev.cause for some reason my bike dont have no rev limiter
Don't worry. I've calmed down a lot since then.
The school of the riches!
lol where are you man?
it looks like a good looking place, and the morning ride was very relaxing, very calm.
looks to be Nevada, and I would assume he puts his backpack on his back
man, you ask a lot of questions
err... no the #1 reason would be improper maintenance which is common among both two wheels and up.
This Is where u did the wheelie practice???
