Reminds me of my childhood, climbing trees, my mother yelling for me, fishing at the creek and my dad would pick me up in his truck and I'd jump in the back, wind in my face. Oh that little boy remembers his love of growing up, my parents so loving. Thank you mom and dad!! I never forget.........

Beautiful song... but deeply sad at the same time. I used to manage a place for homeless men, addicts, and alcoholics... after I was homeless myself. This song touched me on several levels. God be with you all.

This is not a good recording yet Morgan sounds incredible. Yeah, this is one of those that breaks my heart every time. An old homeless man dying in the cold, hallucinating about a happy memory...a beautiful picture of a tragedy.
I have heard many songs in my life but this has to be in the top 3. What an awesome song.
This song touched my heart years ago and is still resonating with me today. Personally I think it may be one of the best written songs of all time. Craig has a voice that can take you there and make you feel the what he is singing. This song reminds me of my grandfather growing up on the creek banks in West Virginia. He is really sick now and I know the time is coming. So just hang in there a little bit longer Pap you are Almost Home.

Many times in my life I've been right there where that old man was & for the past 11 & a half years it's been me & my little Chihuahua Spankey fighting for our lives with not much help at all . People don't care anymore . I'll be glad when I do get to go bome . At least I'll have some peace in my life then . 😢

Always been one of my very favorites over the years. Really hits home now that my dad's gone. Found him passed away in the barn feeding at 7 below zero a few years ago. I just learned all the words to this and would love to sing it to my wife and son who I know have never heard it. Each time I practice I can't quite make it through without braking down.

I'm a country boy so this hits home... unfortunately I know people with these same memories that are alcoholics and drug addicts, they're so lost in their addiction but I know they have these memories...I cry every time I hear this for these people.

One of my all time favorite country songs, and the first one I learned to play on guitar.
I've been trying to learn this song just started playing this year. I just can't find anything on how he actually plays it. Every tutorial I can find it doesn't sound the same. And I'm not good enough to play just from hearing it yet :(
I always felt that this song should have been promoted better, some have posted animated video's that were 'okay' but I believe that if a high quality REAL life video could have been made, it would have really boosted this song to where it should have been, maybe it should be re-released with a good video to back it up, what do you think?

This is one fantastic song but I bet you never thought it would be sung at a funeral. My brother Paul McIntyre was a musician and died in February of cancer. He thought this was one of the greatest song ever and had asked one of his fellow musicians to sing it at his funeral. Not a dry eye in the building. Thank you! great song

Love these "unplugged" sessions. Pure sound, natural, wonderful acoustic guitar (even if amplified) not covered up by other electronic distractions. This song from Mr Morgan carries such a great message. The innocence of youthful days and the complications of growing older having nothing more than the clothes on your back.
Would have loved a violin in there. The violin really gives the song good extra depth. But this is a beautiful version.

All it takes is the first 5 notes of the guitar to choke me up. Sad to think there are so many homeless in this country. The subtle play on words, Almost Home. Is he referring to memories of his childhood or is he talking about dying and going "Home" to G_d. I am not a big country fan but this song gets me every time.

It's both. A dying homeless man is recalling memories of home and hoping heaven is gonna be like that.

this will be one of the songs I have played at my funeral....this songs sums up my life when I was a kid...and the homless part does pertain to me when I was 17....lived in the woods for 3 months...one of the most lonely times of my life..
