Like I said in the video, I'll still cover stuff worth talking about.
I wish Samsung or maybe even apple would make a surface duo type device but with the addition of a front screen, so it’s easier to use on the go but a multitasking power house when I need it to be. Decent cameras for photo and video would be the cherry on the cake. With the correct specs I’d pay the super expensive prices these devices are reaching.
The way Microsoft dealt with Windows Phone, Zune, and Xbox Music was enough reason for me to avoid the Duo, even though I really liked the concept of the device. The way they're dealing with Duo is enough reason not to invest in the next product, whatever it is.
They need a roadmap and customer engagement, instead of the mysticism, blank stares, and confused shrugs they have dealt with in the past if they want anybody to be interested in the next product they make; and they'll need to keep it up for *years*.
Given their exiting of the consumer peripherals market, and the sort of teams they've let go in recent layoff rounds, I think they don't think the investment is worth the likely return.

I am done with Microsoft products. (I'll use windows as that seems to be without a option.) It's been the same song and dance. I'll keep using my Duo 2 until security updates or the hardware give up the ghost as I paid for the experience. Beyond this, I'll look elsewhere for a phone solution. ❌ zune, ❌sidewinder, ❌surface book 3, ❌XBox Workout apps, ❌Crimson Skies and now.. ❌Surface Duo 2 ( after this failure inventory, I just realized I might need therapy)
It has always been the aggravating thing about MS. I loved my zune, and jumped all in on their Antivirus software (can't remember the name) which they dropped after a while and loved the Duo, so I should have already known the Duo wouldn't last. Actually surprised the the MS Surface has played as long a it has.
Sad but inevitable. You are a videomaker who is under an obligation to produce content and there is nothing more to produce concerning the Surface Duo 2. Thank you for introducing me to this incredible device which has been my smartphone for over a year and for a very long time to come since it is unique in its category. Me personally, my Duo2 works the same today as it did yesterday (which is still awesome) so don't feel the need to ditch it. Love the videos, great content as always

I love my Surface Duo 2 too much to give it up for a Pixel phone, so as long as it is working I will stick to it. I've had the chance also to try out a Z Fold 4 the last few months, but I don't like the form factor at all. Nothing can really replace the two-screen experience. If and when my current Duo 2 stops working I might even consider getting a new one, I am sure there will be some refurbished ones available at a much reduced price in a year or two.
I don't think you'll find refurbished Duo 2's. I can't get mine repaired so the chance of finding a replacement in any capacity seems slim to none.
I started using two phones just to keep using my Duo. What a great phone. I’ve been using the Pixel Fold as a replacement. It’s great but still not the same.
I have been trying a new telco [in México] in my S22Ultra, so I moved my main SIM to my Duo. I was pleasantly surprised by the phone. I didn't buy it for the phone or the camera but the phone is definitely usable.

I absolutely get what you mean but I'm staying put for a bit longer. Yes I'm pissed at Microsoft for the deafening silence, but as of now I'm happy with how my duos work, and really prefer the current software to the pixel one (aside from the more natural multitasking, it stretches more apps that don't have a tablet layout for example). I also like the pen and glass screens, and actually love that there's no cover screen. Once more and more optimization for 13 happens that might change. But I'm not there yet.

So unfortunate, the Duo is one of the most underrated pieces of tech I've ever used. I'm glad I got to experience both generations. I still don't think there's a better device at multitasking available

You should consider running a poll that if Microsoft released a Duo 3 that was a folding screen device like the Pixel Fold, would anyone trust Microsoft enough to purchase it.

I've been using my Duo as a second device for some time. My daily driver is either my Z Fold 4 or my Oppo Find N2 Flip. I don't often use a sim in the Duo. Normally I just hot-spot using my other device. The Duo does things the others can't. Multi device usage also helps me spread the battery load. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a device the size of the duo with one large folding internal screen, an outer screen, great camers, a great processor, all day power user battery and the Duo's multitasking. The Pixel Fold looked like a contender but is clearly way off the mark on multiple fronts, the key ones being the multitasking, battery and processor. As we are, I'll be using my Duo alongside whichever other device I daily drive until it dies... or something better comes along.
I just bought my second Duo (1) for $350. Its perfect for my needs. You'll never catch the latest greatest thing, as there always is something better around the corner.
If the price went down, I'd give it a try.... the Windows 11 hacks made it seem the most interesting... but even used prices are still way too high for me when we have Fold 4 and the Pixel Fold.... just like you said with it being a similar experience or better.
I listed my duo one on swappa a few minutes ago. I have been dragging my feet. Going to need to sell it to recoup some of the money to pay for my z-fold 5. I just found myself missing Samsung notes, nothing I did on this phone. No slim pen. No anything was enough to even come close to Samsung notes with an S pen

I'm riding my duo 2 until the wheels fall off. I've invested too much into the design. However, I am already looking at future replacements down the line. Fingers crossed for the one plus foldable
I feel ya. Same emotional journey. I have since switched to the Motorola Razr+. Not even looking back at my Duo 2.
I will use my Duo 2 until it is not worth carrying. When it is time to get a new phone I will adapt to that as I did the Duo and Duo 2. But because of the graveyard of abandoned Microsoft products that I have, it will be the last Microsoft branded hardware I buy.
How are people able to move on from such an expensive phone so easily? With that said, I will be holding onto my duo as long as it is reasonable to do so. I've already taken the time to get used to it as a device and use it as my main one everyday. At this point, I am hoping that unofficially there will be people who worked on the duo's team that will be able to help us out to keep this thing alive for longer. Maybe even a build on lineage os or something like that where they can add more features or at least maintain things
one thing about the duo is that it doesn't HAVE to have an outside screen. The Fold 4-5, pixel fold, and Oneplus open all have to have an outside screen. If there was no outside screen on these devices, you would have to open them into tablet mode and talk, answer texts, emails and such always in tablet mode. So the outside screen is a necessity. With the duo, it fold all the way around 360 degrees and therefore there is no absolute need for an outside screen. When I get a call or need to send a text, I can wrap it around in less than one second and not I have a bar style phone. As much as I like the pixel fold, I just don't know that I wouold do much different than I do with the duo.
I just replaced a lost SD2 with another and I'm not leaving this form factor or Microsoft platform anytime soon (especially since my work uses Microsoft/Office suite and Teams). I plan to stay with the Duo line for at least 3 MORE years before I even consider another option. There's nothing current foldables can do to live up to the multitasking and durability prowess of two GLASS screens over one fragile and very plastic foldable one. The Duo line are TANKS and no foldable can really compare.

I'm not happy that Microsoft may not make a a new Surface Duo device. I just gotten Duo 2 and loving it. Very unique device. I'm going to hang on to it and enjoy it as long as possible.

I haven't reached that point yet...I can't get past the lack of dual screens on these new phones...I had the z-fold 4 and gave it away and got another duo 2 as I use 2 phones...You are starting to convince me that maybe I need to cave in and give this pixel fold a shot...I am sort of waiting for this one fold or whatever they are gonna call it to come out and see how that is...I am an older person so it is tough to teach this old dog new tricks...I have a sneaking suspicion that I am going to have to cave in and bite the bullet soon...From what I am seeing it is going to come down to either the pixel fold or the one fold and I am going to wait and see which one of these 2 devices I like the best...I will say this is a tough pill for me to swallow as I really love this duo 2...
Im still luving my Surface version one. The lack of front screen means I dont need a front screen saver of case. The biggest problem is the cost of losing a surface pen.
Duo doesn't deserve your love. You sir, brought me along into the foldable world. I was SUPER SUUUUPER excited for the surface duo 3. Now, I'm definitely wishing the fold 5 had a similar aspect ratio to the pixel fold. Maybe iphone will finally do something maybe?
I actually sold my duo and used the money to buy the pixel fold. I was not originally was not going to buy it but between selling my duo and my flip 4 I made a good amount of money for the pixel fold. So far I am loving it.
Same feelings but I can't move on. It's to soon. The device still works and is to good to be replaced at this point. So I'll keep using it until the updates stop.

I am in the exact same situation. I was never a big fan of tablets or foldable with that plasticky screen... but I was always very tempted to try the Duo! But now I don't know if I should get one since it will not be updated anymore.
I felt a similar pain. I never had the pleasure of using the duo but I still miss my old BlackBerry. Right now I carry my s22 ultra and an ipad mini. Even with those two powerhouses, I still yern for that keyboard and all its goodies.
Unfortunate is always a word that is associated with Microsoft products that we techies gravitate to. We are usually burned when it comes to the adoption of their nich products. Understandably MS is a software company first and creates products to further their software goals. Just like Surface laptops, they create a product concept in hopes that other OEM's will jump aboard and move it forward. Too bad that a company like Acer, HP, or ASUS did not create their own Duo-like device.
Me too. I had the last update just a week ago...I still miss the multitasking experience, but my new phone has better battery and will have updates for 3 years. I need to STOP buying MS phones...I should have learned with the Lumias.
I know what you mean about support for the device. At one time I thought the best tablet ever was the Google Nexus 7 from ASUS. Then along came the upgrade to the OS and it bricked. I had a lovely piece of glass. ASUS chose not to support it as they were no longer building tablets for Google. I moved on, went to Samsung, haven't looked back.
My SD1 and wanting to learn more about it brought me to Shane's channel. Love the videos, hoping I can pickup a SD2 for a reasonable price with so many people jumping ship!
I'm really sad with how dead duo is. I just like it so much. Even now that my duo2 left screen stop working, I still enjoy the extra wide screen compared to my other single screen phones.
I heard that the cover screen of pixel fold is only as wide as pixel 6. If so, it's going to be very difficult for me to move on.
Based on my experiences with windows mobile, windows phone, RT devices... I am sad, but not surprised.
Well regretfully I just got my Z Fold5 phones and there is some good and bad. My initial surprise was that the screen size. The Z Fold5 screen is a good bit smaller than the DUO 2. I am going to miss my Duo 2 and sorry MSFT isn't on board to keep this great box going. I will post more impressions as I go, but the hardware is lacking. But the world is more about software and we may have to be satisfied with a step down in hardware for now.
I just returned to Surface Duo. I got a brand new Surface Duo 1 for $265, and now it's my work phone running TracFone.
Mine has before a Kindle reader. It's great for that and I'm still getting use.
I appreciate all the info you have shared on the Duo. I really love drawing on this device so I am going to experiment with Windows later this year. I want to use my Duo until the end of time!
This is so sad. It was the duo that brought me to your channel. I definitely won’t leave, because I know you value the same things I did to appreciate a device like duo. That appreciation will show me more products I’ll appreciate. I’m not done with duo 1. It is a tried and true 2nd device for me without the camera bump. I’m sure I’ll do the windows crossover soon. But it’s a sad day to see Microsoft has killed your joy in the duo because they are forgetting it. Even before the promised 3rd gen came out. The generation that finally got it right with the Surface Pro tablet/laptop trail blazing design. They were right there again, but they’ve let us down this time. Thanks for your videos, and I know you’ll update with any big news on the duo, but that clearly will become fewer and further between.
I would be happy if Microsoft surface 3 kept the dual screen instead of R&D ING into folding displays.
I'll probably go to Samsung s23 Ultra and use a Lapdock from Nexdock.
Hopefully 5 years from now folding displays will be more durable and longer lasting.
Thank you for being my first resource when I got my Duo. As a Windows user I don't currently have an upgrade path assuming I wanted to explore other hardware
I just broke my screen on my S23 Ultra and while waiting to get it fixed I went back to my Duo 2. Now I'm glad I broke my S23. I love the Duo, it's truly the best iteration of foldable device with the 2 screens. I don't like the one giant screen when you open a foldable device. I really hope they bring back the Surface Duo and actually market it properly. Definitely could use a stylus built in, better battery, better camera, and no more camera bump so I can fold the phone back flat.
I've used the Samsung zfold 4 and the OPPO find n2, I still chose the Duo over these two. Reason is the crease, it messes up when I'm using the stylus/pen to draw something, and when using those folding phones i tend to be using one app at a time and has to take additional steps to open 2 apps the same time, where as the Duo just automatically and very conveniently open the 2nd app to the other screen so it's more productive with multitasking. I realize I don't need folding screens, but I definitely need DUAL screens. If Microsoft ever stop making the Duo, my next step would be to buy Two phones instead of buying those foldable phones. It would suck but to me those folding phones would suck even more than the Duo because I'm only using ONE screen instead of TWO, and of course the crease which until they figured out how to get rid of it would never be acceptable to me.
I still use my 1st generation duo as my secondry phone and its still works fine people still asking me about even foldable phones holders nothing matches multitasking exprience like duo
7:48 love my surface duo's but given Microsoft's track record this was always on the cards. We were beta testers 😢.
If you're fortunate enough to have a foldable then you're surface duo will be your secondary phone as your foldable wont an exact replacement but it will over come some of the
shortcomings of the duo's.
Do i regret buying my duo's? Not at all. I love the hardware (especially the original duo).
It's really really sad that I now have to look for a compromise instead of an upgrade... I do not want a screen that can be damaged by a fingernail. I want two seperate screens. It's the same on PC. Instead of using ultrawides, I use 4 screens at home and 3 at work. The Oneplus Fold has enough compromises for me, it just has to come out. Then I am hoping my duo get's a warranty case and I will get my money back... That's the least I can do to say F you Microsoft for shattering yet another dream device for me. At least Lenovo picked up the Neo.

just sold my sd2 and now using pixel fold. i am liking the one handed operation offered by the cover screen. it is soooooo convenient.
This is pretty sad. You are probably Numero Uno for giving Microsoft Duo 1/2 sales. I certainly bought one thanks to your shared experiences on your channel. It's such a shame Microsoft (and worse, Google) are known for ditching hardware that doesn't sell or take lots of mindshare within 2 years. I certainly will side-eye their Duo 3 (if it ever comes) and will look elsewhere for my folding multitasking phone.
How do I feel? - I understand everything you're saying and I'm sure I would be fine with the Pixel Fold. Still, I'm keeping my SD2 and have sent my PF back. I couldn't even bring myself to open the box and try it. An SD3 is no longer coming. The final certainty will come at a possible surface event in September.
I'm still holding out because I just hate the ripple and the plastic-y nature of the foldable screen. I never used it as my daily driver though, it was my media consumption and gaming device alongside my normal slab phone.
The one thing foldables don't do yet is tent mode and that's what I will really miss. It was so cool to watch a video or play a game while in tent mode.

To me, it's the perfect secondary device for media playback and travel. Main phone, pixel 7 pro (phone, camera, navigation). The duo is a backup just in case, as well as media playback etc. The Duo 2 was messed up by the large camera causing balance issues.

I'll use my Duo 1 for as long as I can. The individual apps will get their updates, and I have Malwarebytes and a VPN for security, so I'm covered there.
I'm honestly scared about my duo, I have more bugs than ever before, what will be its software state in a few months? What will happen to the battery?
Like you Shane, I think the Pixel Fold would be a perfect replacement for it if I need to move on, but I'll never be able to buy it unfortunately :(

Try backing up your Duo and doing a hard reset. I did this the other day and the clean install helped with some of the bugs I was having. I'm rocking with Duo until I can't anymore. Best form factor ever in my opinion.
Agreed, I recently got the pixel fold, and I won't be going back. It's not as good as multitasking, but it's good enough, and the rest of the kit is light-years ahead
I've gone back to my 2019 OnePlus 7 Pro as it was recently given a massive update and brings features many modern phones have that Surface Duo 2 still doesn't have. My Duo 2 is now in my draw, retired. Such a shame. Thank you for all your support of this great device. You are the reason I decided to buy a Duo 2 early last year. It has been a great experience (mostly, albeit some frustrating glitches lol). I'm going to wait and see what OnePlus brings with their foldable. As for the future of my Duo 2? I might just set it up, keep it plugged in, and leave it in its laptop state on the desk displaying weather and things, I don't know yet 😂
You made a point about how switching from the Duo to the Pixel Fold was easier because the aspect ratio was similar and while the multitasking was not identical, it was close enough. I had the same, but opposite, experience coming from the V60 to the Fold 4. The V60 had a super tall display and when you split screen 2 apps on the fold, it almost feels like I am using my V60 again. It definitely is a fair point you make about that and I agree that not easily being able to take pictures without opening the phone was a big shortcoming of the V60 just like the Duo.
At least the V60 had some notification screen on the front display so you could see who was calling and icons of notications. While the Duo was the superior device over the V60, when I moved from the V60 to the Fold 4, it fixed all of the shortcomings I had with the V60 even if there was some things I missed.
Packed that Surface Duo 2 a long time ago. Right now it is a zero device for me. Lack of support, app support the list goes on.
I'll still continue using it for my use-case which is not as a phone but more so as a multi tasking home device and emulator machine.
I'm switching between my surface duo, Sony Xperia pro-I, or my Samsung note 9 running iodéOS.
The duo is just too damn handy at times!
Was a proud owner of a duo 2 for a good 6 months until I realised the software support just wasnt a patch on samsungs (I normally have samsungs) so jumped ship to a fold 3 ....... Ive had that for well over a year now and thought Id give the samsung flip a try .... love it to be honest, yes I've lost alot of screen real estate but boy the phone good in the hand (or pocket) and preformance is top notch.
Would I buy another microsoft "first" I dont know .... I do love there services. I use onedrive not gdrive, outlook instead of gmail and for a small fee my whole family enjoys the same but hardware... yep always mishandled judging by the amount of windows phones I have in a draw :(
Hi Shane. I agree totally. Great take! It appears when it comes to the Surface Duo, we've adapted to the dysfunctional and half baked experience it offered because no other device offered a similar user experience. Especially when it came to multi-tasking. Potentially, the Surface Duo promised to be an incredible device and offered an unmatchable user experience. That is, once all of the bugs were hammered out. My dream device would've been a Samsung Z Fold with a Duo-like form factor. Big Up to Google for releasing the P-Fold. It allowed me to slide the P-Fold right into the place previously occupied by the Duo..
Pretty similar except it was a deliberate choice on my part to pick out something that was the closest we were ever going to get to a Surface Duo 3. I still keep my Duo 2 as a backup (and because it's rare) but I pick it up every so often but yeah, I have definitely moved on.
When my SD2 went out Mother's Day weekend I was first super bummed, though I had an old Samsung Note 8, I wasn't interested in the form of the Zold. Then I saw something on the Pixel Fold. Preordered used an old Motorola until i finally got it. Really haven't missed the SD2 nearly as much as I anticipated for sure. And seeing no major updates for SD2 thinking it ended up being a good move to (forcefully) switch. Enjoying the Pixel Fold.
I got the duo because of you and i can say was a really good experience, i still miss the multi tasking as it was forcing me to use multiple apps and do my work 10x faster, but im now back on my z fold 3 until google decides to ship me the fold. The idea is that microsoft failed to provide a stable released, even today you get bugs that shoudnt happen after all this time. Ill keep the device only because of the custom roms, hopefully this will give new life to the device, until then. Farewell surface, you serve us well
I was so close to buying a Duo 2, but after seeing this video and the Windows Central article a few days ago, I don't think it would be smart! Very sad as I loved the Duo 1 when I had it.
I liked my Surface Duo, but it didn't work out for me. I ended up going back to an IPhone. I wanted it to work because I liked the platform but there were too many problems with using it as a phone. If they Microsoft had supported it with WIndows, it would have been fine as a laptop replacement. But they handicapped the hardware and made a half-ass effort on the OS. Fewatured that just would have worked on other Android devices just didn't work on the Duo.

I know you review mostly phones, but get yourself a review version of the Robo & Kala 2-in1 laptop and check it out. I see the Duo 2 and the Surface ProX in the same category: excellent, cutting-edge devices that Microsoft developed and dropped. I am one of many MS fans you paid substantial sums for quality devices over the years (the list is long) and it suddenly saw Redmond's trash pile. I just recieved my Robo & Kala and it's EXCELLENT. The lightest and thinnest 2-in-1 in existence and is what the Surface 9 ARM should have been! I'm happy to give Microsoft a poke in the eye and support an up-and-comer!

Following you was great. I cant wait to see what the next chapter will be. The surface Duo just sits in a box at my house. I think I might sell my DUO soon. I think people want the device but I find that it isnt useable in business. I went to the FOLD 4 and I have been using that device since it came out. I am looking at the Fold 5 I just dont want to buy the same device again and again. I like your videos and I am sure that you will find other issues to talk about. With this I will say "Farewell for Now".

I completely agree with the sentiments of the video and many of the comments below. It is one of the most underrated pieces of tech i have used and i prefer to use a camera for photos rather than a phone camera and so multi tasking dual screen use was excellent. However, Microsoft's failure to evolve to a Google Pixel fold concept or support and update to Android 13 speaks volumes about the future of the product and this is such a pity. I do think Pixel fold will be successful and the second iteration will be better still. It is just a shame that Microsoft, having developed the concept did not go the extra mile to put a phone on the front screen and update further the concept. It feel as if Google has seen where Microsoft were going and went, " they are not interested so let us do it instead." A real shame for those of us who believed Microsoft finally had a great idea for phones and would get it right and support it, but they disappointed again and tarnished the Surface brand at the same time.
I just sold my Duo 2. Not that I was sour, but it was my work phone for the last year and I recently switched jobs to a place where I couldn't use it anymore. So it was no longer of any meaningful use to me.
How come? A RMM tool that requires the latest version of android? I hope that never happens at my company.
@@kingzach74 My old job had a bring your own device policy. So I was able to use my Duo 2 no problems with all the Office 365 suite of apps. It worked really well, and I much preferred the duo 2 to the company provided phone. My new job does not have a bring your own device policy as we work with some export-controlled content, so I must use the company provided phone and laptop. This meant I had no good use for my Duo 2 other than as a portable tablet to consume media (RUclips/netfix) but this is where the gap between the screens is a disadvantage.
Hopefully a Dev on XDA can build stock android roms for the Surface Duo 1 and 2

Tbh Surface Duo is such a unique device. I don't really like the multi-tasking implementation in the Fold Series.
Ps. I still use the OG Duo as a secondary phone, and ye. It limps along. 😭
Still using duo 2. Don't see a worthy upgrade yet and don't have issues. If my phone were to brake I would go to pixel fold but not unless I need to...
I understand moving on from the surface duo. I manage to get mines on sale for 200 bucks awhile back brand new. I mostly use it as a second phone to read and take notes.I can't imagine jumping on to the pixel fold due to it being 1800 but maybe one day after the price drops considerably.
I don’t have a surface Duo , but I do know the feeling of owning a favourite android device that has not had a long period of software updates , and then was only relegated to security updates , which lets face it are desirable, but at the same time really a token gesture from the phone maker giving you the hint ……. that it’s time you started thinking about buying a new device from us.
I just found out about the Duo and I could have warned about this from the beginning. Microsoft has always been quick to abandon devices, especially phones, and especially anything not running their Windows OS.
I move to surface duo because after 6 replacement of broken Motorola RAZR and after changing razr 2019 to 2022 I'm done with plastic foldables all of them broke after 1 year
After one week of using Pixel Fold, I become more and more confident that Microsoft Surface Duo (2) was on a RIGHT track on productivity and multi-tasking. Don't get me wrong, I was so excited to see that Pixel Fold would become my main device and I thought I don't need to carry Surface Duo 2 with me any more. However, now I'm carry both Pixel Fold and Surface Duo 2. The reason is that Duo 2 is far superior to multi-tasking and productivity use. It has bigger screens than Pixel Fold. It has two big screens side-by-side. Now I'm even thinking to buy Surface Duo (1) since I don't need fancy camera on Duo and looks it lighter & slimer. I really hoping Microsoft to release new version of "Dual screen" device.
I had the surface duo 1 and 2. I love the duo. Now I have yhe pixel fold. The pixel fold isn't nearly as convenient as the duo when it comes to a 2 screen device...but the pixel fold is more smooth and way less glitchy than the duo 2. I begrudgingly jumped ship. If the duo ran half as smooth as the pixel fold, or really any newer Android device, I would stick withtl the Duo.
While I am still a Duo 2 user, I'm slowly experiencing this feeling. I've been looking at the Pixel Fold, because it resembles the Surface Duo in aspect ratio and design.
I think wi will be moving on to the Pixel Fold in Spring.
I enjoyed this video. It made me think of what happened to LG when they went tits up on their mobile division. I was loving the idea of their V60 thin dual screen phone then no more LG mobile devices.
I concur. I don't even believe duo 3 will come at this point. I think a software based split screen solution is the answer going forward. As you've pointed out, the duo is doing what it does via software anyways. Only a matter of time before someone makes an OS or even just a launcher/reskin that accomplishes what DUO does.
Im still using Duo1. Super thin, 2 panels, very prety.
Great video. I had no idea you could create groups in the dock like you have on the pixel. I'll have to try that, looks nice.
I jumped on late, March of last year so I am still paying for this crap... 1,200 dollars and 18 months later no support... unforgivable.
I wish someone somewhere would make a launcher for Android than emulated Microsoft's implementation of the Microsoft launcher on Duo. I just really want a launcher that would allow that ease of multitasking experience of two home screens.
When my duo 2 broke and there were no replacements available, my heart broke with it. I miss that thing every time i pull a different device from my pocket.
I've had this same experience with most Microsoft hardware and phones of the past.
It's understandable you've moved on, I still will use my SD1 until it dies.
Microsoft just can't be trusted anymore, sadly.

I kinda figured MS was going to abandon the Duo devices. I am thankful that they are still providing security updates at least for Duo 2 for another year. It is very sad because Duo most definitely is a very unique device that made multitasking fun....when it isn't acting buggy lol.
I understand why. I will too when I can get a different unlocked folding phone for less than $300 like the Surface Duo costs. Until then happy with my Surface.
Well you have to remember if the price didn't drop and it sold like other foldables that would be in the same category as the others as far as price goes, I think the actual cheapest foldable from a factory start off price is 1k and that's from a company called tecno
@@RJ_UploadsI hear that. But I wouldn't have bought a foldable phone at anywhere near 1k. The price is exactly why I have this phone and why there is no replacement for it.
(edit: Well I guess the LG dual screen phones are an alternative at this price. I had a G8x, loved it but it is no replacement for the Surface Duo.)
(Procrastinator ... who ultimately ...) I'm relieved I trusted my hunch that MS would let me/us down and chose S10>S23 Ultra 5G instead of S10>SD2/3. Had the SD2 been further developed and supported, I was going to swap an ageing HP for a Surface Pro 9, but instead went for a new Dell. So, you lost two sales, MS. My trust in MS branded Hardware has been lost forever. I loved the SD concept, especially the hinge/crease-free design. Pity.
Well, my pixel 3XL just died so sadly I have to move on.. I know it's not the same but man hurts to say good bye to an old friend
I lost trust with Microsoft and mobiles when they pulled windows phone shortly after I spent nearly £800 on an HP Elite X3. While I looked at the duo when it came out, that hard-hitting lack of support from Microsoft meant my brain kicked in and said it was only a matter of time until Microsoft pulled support. I moved to a note, and now a fold. I wouldn't ever buy a new Microsoft device as they do not commit to long-term support of their devices. Samsung, on the other hand show continued development of their products.
Would have loved to still use my Duo 2, but I now have the black screen/gyro bug, making the phone essentially useless. I now have a Fold 4, and I have barely looked back.
