    That's an excellent strategy. I like using it during our bell ringers. I have small Spanish classes, so I have students in groups of three to discuss how to work out a math problem or answer a question. Tables are labeled by symbols students choose. Then, I pick a symbol and a stick with a number for the selected student to share the group's answer. Thank you for sharing such a great collaboration strategy!!!

    Why 1 to 4 and just not groups? What is the difference between number 2 and number 3?

      Hello there! We encourage groups of 3-4 students based on psychological principals. We often make these heterogeneous groupings so students can work more effectively together when we set up Team Tasks or team activities. During this time, we usually pull small groups. If you take one student from each team, this will still leave the groups with 3 students each. This is the strongest number of students you can have in a team, so it is strategically set up so the teacher can do small groups as students work on team activities. We do a deeper dive into this in our online training, but this is where we are going with the numbered heads. For example, person number 1 will be part of a small reading group with the teacher for 10 minutes, etc. Hope this helps! Great question.
