    No bank would ever allow a former employee who laundered $379,000 out of their accounts to walk free willy nilly on home. Grace would have been handcuffed and given the perp walk into jail.
    Then when Grace actually did call the police to have Shannon be removed from her home, she failed to mention that HE was the one that committed bank fraud, forged her signature and laundered $379,000? That would no longer have been a civil matter, it would have been a FEDERAL case. He would have been arrested. DUH! Use your brain cells Grace!!! LOL

      Totally agree made no sense part's of movie. Most law firms aren't giving first time lawyer that type of case. Plus there was no plea deal they determined her sentence as maximum. Any good law firm would still try to make a deal, prosecution still has to convict. I'd let them put death penalty on the table. Plus she's a woman which works on her side in America's judicial system, even for black women. The last woman executed in US happened in 1998

    • @bajanking43
      @bajanking43 4 года назад +2

      Plus no job especially corporate yells you're fired with multiple people around. Didn't seem anyone was HR employee. Than this first time ever heard a law firm say they can't afford to take a case to trial. I guess they don't do pro bono or do too many of those. Than her boss says he'll make sure her career is over. He can make it hard for her to get another job, but can't prevent her being hired

    I just finished this movie and I'll just say it's not for people like me who actually pay attention to details and hate things that make no freakin sense. I'll just list alllll my issues with this movie:
    1. Bresha couldn't cry if her life depended on it. Watching her bad acting was stressing me out, but her hair was the best out of everyones. Shiny and healthy so she had that going for her.
    2. Grace found out it was her husband who took the money and saw him on cctv AT THE BANK SHE WORKED AT FOR 25 YRS. Not one of her coworkers thought to ask her about it? Not even in passing like "oh saw your husband today, or oh, your husband brought in that document "you signed."
    3. Grace bashes his head in, his skull is literally caved in and she pushed him down the stairs causing further blunt force trauma to the head. He should have been dead and IF he survived he would for sure have a crushed skull and be in a vegetative state on life support.
    4. During the prosecutors closing statement he says Grace dragged and drove the body out to the swamp. Sorry but, HUH?
    5. Now let's talk about how Sara got away and made it out of town all while having her hands cuffed from behind.
    6. At this point Tyler just tosses Cicely Tyson in his movies as if she was a set prop.
    7. During the diner date scene the older white male extra in the back kept looking directly into the camera, drinking from an empty cup, and eating invisible food off his fork. Nothing was on it!
    The fact that Tyler P bragged about not having a writers room is clearly shown in this film. It sucked and not in the "I'm so bad I'm great cult classic to be" way either.

      how can you take out a new loan on the house without the owner of the mortgage being present. Her house was brought and paid before she married him so his name was not on mortgages documents therefore he can not just freely walk in the bank and have access to her mortgage. Did he have
      Power of attorney over her?! No! She would have had to go into the bank herself to take out a new loan- being that he was taped going into the bank to gain her money. Make this storyline make logical sense! Who took the handcuffs off of Sarah....Sarah snicker out the home handcuffed to next being seen on new clothes on a the next victim’s door step! BIG MISSED OPPORTUNITY...And he (the husband) even said she was asking questions a good lawyer would when in actuality the work she was doing was an investigator's job, I think this movie's lack of police too in most of the matters including when she got fired made the movie feel weird to me.
      There's no way IRL a bank would let a stealing employee walk like that without taking them in for questioning with an officer's aid.

    • @tgirl1021
      @tgirl1021 4 года назад

      @@chris21taylor Right, like there's no way the police aren't doing something about her abuse claims, following up on missing persons reports for the kidnapped women or even investigating where Shannon was since they had no body.
      Also the trial was horseshit. With no body, the defense had a case for dropping the charges down. For the prosecution to claim their need for establiahing motive, they did nothing but make up shit. How do they not call Grace to the stand? Getting to the root of why she attacked him & their marriage is rule #1. How is Grace's only character witness Sara, if she's such a pillar in the community? We don't here either side bring up any real argument. Just a montage of them asking like 20 ppl some random & invasive questions!

    • @chris21taylor
      @chris21taylor 4 года назад +1

      @@tgirl1021 Who were those 20 people though cause we've been through 2 years in that movie and we never saw or heard their interaction with Grace (I'm still waiting for her cooking baking scene). Even her son's character was underused.
      I think if they didn't rush it in 5 days some character and world-building could have been done. For instance, all of those radio and TV reports and 0 of them mentioned the missing women before the big ending, or even the first woman jumping to her death...that could have been a random thing at first to hear missing women reports on the radio and we the audience have our own AhAh moment when we saw the basement scene.
      I was thinking two main things with Grace, who in hell would be like 'Okay' if their partner said 'I don't like being questioned' and who in the world would have video evidence to save their back and not mention it once to the lawyer or police.
      Warping around to your first point, officers saw my mom give me two taps behind my head and did nothing although I yelled, 'this is child abuse!' so it wasn't a surprise they didn't follow up Grace's claims...But in the movie context, I was waiting for them to ask to talk with Shannon but they didn't. I hope future filmmakers and the director of this one learns from these mistakes...this movie will be used for a, what not to do guide in film school.

    This was a good Tyler Perry movie. I think the movie had a message. Never bring up ex husbands and finances. Never except gifts from someone you just met. That’s a major red flag. Don’t let people set you up to fail. I think if the prosecutor had worked on the case on her own she probably would have saw the phone number in the records. She was upset and stressed out ..... I’ve worked in groups before and most cases they make things worse. Since it was her job on the line. Her coworkers/friends should have stayed away. Her boss and friends really didn’t want to see her win the case. Overall never put all your trust into people. And it’s okay to be alone after a breakup or divorce. If you’re mind is still bitter you’ll meet someone worse than your ex. Stay in your lane and get your mind right. If Grace had just thrown the phone number away. And went on vacation to the Bahamas it’d been less stressful for her and myself because I felt sorry for Mrs. Grace.😔

    the point about the body was key. from what these true crime shows say its hard to convict without a body. Grace wouldn't have gotten fired like that, she'd have been investigated and questioned by HR and not threatened by the board. If she had called the cops in viriginia for a domestic dispute, someone would have been removed from the house. Why was Sarah's pic on the cop screen and the husband went in without back up? a lot of this didn't make sense

      Fred Morris the son had a very nice Mercedes Benz on his and Grace’s first date. That was the only nice thing I saw that either one of them owned. Someone else said that they could have been trying to keep a low profile. If they all of a sudden started showing up with multiple cars and extravagant things someone might get suspicious as to how they could afford it. Obviously it’s just a movie, but that could explain Tyler’s thought process about why he didn’t have their characters have more nice things in the movie.

Maybe bc it was left more open ended with "Sarah" on the run, there's room for a sequel telling that story. More could've been done on the investigating side with the cop hubby adding more details or connecting the dots.

On top of that, those phone records need to be explained! How did Sarah see the son leaving but nobody called him to the stand about it?

    I thought it was a half an hour too long. I didn’t need the backstory of Shannon and Grace’s romance and courtship. It could have took 10 minutes to explain they met, she fell in love, he turned out to be a snake. I also though Jasmine should have figured everything out before Grace was convicted and all this could have been avoid if he husband would have told her what happened at work at the beginning of the movie.

    How I see it:
    1 - her husband dropped her off, you see her walking down the road and found the old lady trying to go back home
    2 - regarding the call to tell Sarah that Grace killed him. The reason why they didn't suspect her friend because they assumed that Grace took the body. Grace left her house after the murder.
    3 - Sarah was the only person who knew that Grace's son was there. No one else knew he was there, Sarah planted that thought into the lawyers mind
    4 - They wouldn't investigate a suicide, I don't know how it works in USA but Im not sure if there are investigations on suicides.
    5 - if they had mentioned all the things he did to Grace then they would have said its probable cause of murder
    6 - The footage was just of him at the bank, no proof that he was there to steal her money
    7 - You can't compare a 3 season show with a 2 hr movie. They tried to fit all these details into one 2 hr movie.
    Final conclusion.
    Tyler Perry is a brilliant writer, he purposfully left holes in the movie to create suspense even after the movie.

    I feel like Blacks come down WAY to hard on other Black writers, actors and producers. White people make films all the time that has “holes” in it or that makes no sense. So what?! People just wanna complain because it’s Tyler Perry. When in all honesty, we don’t have allot of Blacks in the game doing what he’s doing. Sorry, but it’s true. So give the man a break! Tyler is the only one doing it this big as a Black man in film. The Black Community NEEDS to be supporting him. Now I do think that he should work with more Black writers. Jordan Peele or Shonda Rhimes will be great people to work with since they have many successful projects and are talented Black people in Creative Television today. I just feel that Tyler can’t win for losing with you people. He creates a show that centers around a White cast, y’all complain. He creates great TV shows and movies, not only giving jobs to black but giving Blacks the main stage and y’all ain’t happy. 😒 I love my people, don’t get me wrong. But y’all really make no sense to me sometimes. I think we are so use to not having nothing that once we get something we don’t even know how to accept it without being negative or trashing it. The reason it went straight to Netflix instead of box offices is bc if it went to the box office other reviews like rotten tomatoes fandango etc would’ve ran this in the ground because of all the technical issues and the story writing.

Also, Sarah was her bestfriend, which I thought was weird for being friends for 6 years, was not even a suspect or if she was it was like she was protecting her son and Sarah because here she has dated this lowlife and didnt want to bring them into it. The whole moral of story was...we all were scammed...the actors were scammed...we all can have blindspots to those we love..and it is so importsnt to keep your family close...Sarah did more than we all know and that attorney who Sarah took Grace to see...I think he helped Sarah get away...

Show them the video. And if there is no body she shouldnt even be in jail in the first place. That's like anyone saying the same lie no proof. I get the concept he was aiming for but it could have been better. Maybe Tyler had a new writer making scripts now because he is better than this. I've seen all his works and this by far is the worst. As for the haves and the haves not. Girl it's good it reminds me of young and the restless. Or bold and beautiful lol. This movie is clearly made for people who don't care about details or common sense actions in a movie. It's made for people who just want to be entertained, and nothing much more.

    Why do we continue to support this man that gives us this shit show that’s thrown together and we don’t require him to give us go quality material. This could have been so much better. One question when old girl said this ain’t over is this going to be part two?

    There would've been no case for murder either. There was no body at the scene of the crime. Grace would've easily walked because all the evidence would be based on just her confession. That whole case was a case full of speculation without evidence. And also, no job, that you've been embezzling money from, would ever in their right minds, give you 24 hours to come up with the money.

    I agree with both of y'all.. I loved the movie I'll watch it again but they should of explained why those old ladies families wasn't looking for them and how they got them down there, they also could of tied the husband in her case too. I'll give it a 7 out of 10

    I caught another questionable thing, in court computer screen was faced where courtroom people could see what's on it, depending on where you sat.
