This is the first episode of my series of adventures around LA! I'll be taking you on some of my favourite hikes that have helped me reconnect with my wellbeing during the Covid-19 lockdown this year.
In this video I'm taking you on a sunset hike to Debs Park where things turn a little scary in the dark. Sign up to my Patreon to watch the extended version where I talk about some personal struggles I've been dealing with. Check it out at / hazelenglish

I like how this isn’t super slickly produced. Just Hazel and her camera. Literally looks like it was edited on iMovie mobile. Much more personable and enjoyable
you're right i did edit it on imovie mobile haha :) glad u like!
Sounds like such a back handed compliment, like when lasses say "omg most people don't suit being so fat but you pull it off" lol
Hi Hazel, I discovered your music just a few months ago and I've been listening to it a lot. I've also been going out for long walks when I can (weather permitting) and listening to you as I walk! It had helped with my depression and anxiety. Thanks for all you do, you are very talented! Greetings from the UK x
Hey there. As a fellow anxiety and depression sufferer I find listening to Hazel's music helps me through some rough spots too, especially her song "I'm fine". Stay strong and keep fighting🧡
@@georgewhite1972 Thanks, you too. Been really struggling recently.
This is so wholesome
❤️ I'd love to see more of this series.
Absolutely and totally engaging personality, just loved every minute. Yes, more adventures please xx
Well, so far this is my favorite sequal to The Blair Witch Project.
😂
How charming. I feel like I just went on a date with Hazel. And had a good time. Thanks.
Yes, adventure! Keep attention to jaguars.
And coyotes!
Debs Park in LA? Like in El Sereno/Montecito? I used to teach middle school near there. I was wondering if you encountered any gang members claiming turf...be cautious...I want to hear your next song... FYI, the park is there because the hillsides made it impossible to develop into housing right after World War II. Geographically, it is the eastern slope of the Arroyo Seco Canyon and still very riparian with native plants and animals. Thanks for the vlog! -Dr M
She a doll. ✨
This vid has good vibes 😊
Keep making these please!!!
Hi Hazel. Loved the video. I also love taking myself off on long walks, enjoy some peace and quiet, get some perspective and just reflect on life. I hope you do more videos like this in future. Possible idea for you is to maybe take your guitar along with you and play one of your songs in each location you go to. I would definitely love that 😃
I'm not sure if this is just a normal vlog or a scripted "found footage" type series and it's awesome! You have weird background noises (ex: when Hazel says she's nowhere near a highway you can hear a car horn and revving in the distance) and you can see someone behind Hazel in a few shots but that could all just be coincidental.
Very beautiful view at the swing
Nice. Makes me want to go hiking.
you seem like such a nice person and you are so beautiful. love your album. hope you started working on the next one. simply can't get enough...
More adventure videos please! It’s nice to see this side of you
Very intelligent and wise.
This is one's only hope ever:
See Psalm 22:16 (even in the Jewish bible) and, Romans 10:9-13 auth.kjv bible.
After salvation: mark 12:30,31 auth.kjv bible.
I enjoy the way you speak, very proper with a mid-atlantic ping to it 👍
I connect so much with your music, and I love your hike video. You are truly awesome 💗
This is a great way to see places that I will likely never see, just be careful.
Hazel. One place you should see is Griffith Park. But because of Covid, it's closed. In fact, most parks are closed. 😟 Please stay safe. 😷
voice,accent, big teeth,wide mouth,casual hair,nice eyebrows......
It really sucks that during winter time there’s less sunlight. If you get a chance I’d recommend hiking Caballero Canyon Trail.
You can reach a place called Eagle Rock. It’s a big rock that resembles an eagle, not actually Eagle Rock the city (although that would be cool). Happy Hiking.
It should have ended with you being lost.
HELP! HELP! (Cries)
Think you should do more of these.
Also should be careful of snakes.
I never been to the L.A. area but there's an old TV show called Emergency which was about 2 paramedics who were also fireman and after rescues some teens who's car falls into a canyon one of them has to go back to retrieve a radio and that's when he gets bitten.
I enjoyed your journey and i want to thank you for everything you do! Your music saved my soul 🥰
This seemed fun. LA seems nicer through your share.
Please do more, I especially like your thoughts on nature and mankind. And thanks a bunch for sharing.
This is like California's Gold with Hazel Howser. I was going to request for you to visit The Japanese Garden by the 405 and 101, but I think they're closed due to COVID. 😐
R I P Huell.
@@bjorn2run I loved watching all of his shows. When I moved to NY from CA in the late 90s, I remember really missing being able to watch California's Gold on TV.
There's some great trails i' the Santa Monica mountains and around Pacific Palisades, would love to see that episode!!!
I wish I was there with you! That looks like so much fun! (And I could protect you 😁 )
Wow, the cute lady with the amazing voice is still kicking, great!!!
the most beautify part of that great big world is the person in the video thank you for sharing
Nice escape, away from the chaos...
Hiking is a wonderful activity, a remedy for tension and anger...
hope this is the first of many! class vid hazel
Your song, I'm fine is stuck in my head now so what do I do? I watch you walking around Debs Park.
Awesome video, beautiful scenery! Keep it up English.
If you knew how strange to ridiculous it all sounds for Europeans, when you already speak of nature there?
Do South Pasadena, the Halloween filming locations etc.! :D
How is the Andreas ladder canyon? Go there? Murray canyon..
I think this is a great way to connect with people and also incentivizes being active and outdoors. Maybe start earlier next time lol!
this was great, really funny and unscripted, love it
Thank you for sharing these beautiful views & moments on your hike ❤ 💜 💖
These are some really awesome views. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for taking us along, Cheers now time for a cold beer.
Reminds me of my walks down in La Jolla, some nostalgia really hit me seeing the shrubbery along the trail
Привет, это не клевета. походу она жрет **** ну вы поняли
Cool video, really liked it.
Fab vid. Loved it. Please do more if you can.
hi bestie loved ur new album ❤️❤️❤️❤️
As someone who enjoys both your music and just being outside, taking nature in, I enjoyed this video a lot. The rawness of the video complemented the natural theme too and I wouldn't mind seeing more like this! I'd always thought of LA as just a city and it's cool to see the quieter parts of it
Tom Green's Van Life, Ghost Town Living and now this series...I love it!
YAAAAYYYYYYYY! This was a great adventure!
What a beautiful human being!:) and yes we’d love to see more hazel ventures!!
Smitten. I have Hazel-fever.
Keep going with your videos, we like it
imma wait for you new song Hazel!
My walk was a little different today, -5 C, with the wind blowing off of Lake Ontario making if feel a lot colder. I love her music, i've been waiting for Hazel to come to Toronto, hopefully after covid-19 goes away.
More places in Socal would be nice
Hazel I ❤ your spirit X
Hyped to hear more music for u
Great video, would love to see more.
Hi Hazel! You're adorable!!!
You should do some IRL streaming for your next adventure
This is sick. I can connect to this.
I love her song and voice so good 😍

Привет из России.
The simple things are the best things...good for you! Thank you for your creativity - thank you for your music...thanks
Yes.
wow
AWESOME! Glad you got out and had a hike. PLEASE consider taking somebody (AT LEAST one other person) with you next time though! I really worry. L.A. is nothing to mess with. I just want everybody to be safe, that's all.
luv you hazel
This park is literally my backyard lived there my whole life, glad you had a good hike. Also you’re a cutie (:
Rock on! You’re music is very peaceful and savoring to mo. Thank you for your work. Keep it up ROCKSTAR!!!! 🕺🏻
Thx for the lovely video. All the best from Düsseldorf, stay safe and sound. I can't wait for the next episode :).
I really appreciate the therapeutic value of your music. It's rawness and vulnerability. It's a pleasure to "experience" your personality in a more relaxed non-performance capacity. Just want to say thank you for being a genuine soul and sharing yourself with the world... It is not an easy thing to do. It is easy, however, to tell that your mind and heart are just as beautiful as your music. Keep seeking nature. It's essential for a well-rounded human experience.
Fantastic video! Please make more. Try walking through the nature center in Long Beach. They have turtles there. Also, try the tide pools at Cabrillo Beach. Your music is great!
Love this video and your music. Looking forward to more adventuring! Next time you're in NY I can tell you all the awesome spots to check out!
Ok , if I wasn’t in love with you before then I definitely am now , you’re so cute and I love your music too , especially make it better , now you be careful out late on your own , OK !! Be safe , take care ❤️
Hi, Hazel. My wife and I loved your hike through Debs Park. It's funny that I have driven past the park on my way to work for years, yet I had no idea that it was such a big and cool hiking spot! Thanks for revealing this gem and sharing your experience. Another great hiking location of Los Angeles's historical significance is Runyon Canyon. It's a huge dog park now and quite a popular hiking trail in the Hollywood hills. There are still some scattered ruins from the old estate serving as remnants of its past, and the history of what was then known as The Pines is worth a quick read (link with photos provided below).
My personal history with this location goes back to the early 1980s when it was dilapidated, with decades of overgrowth and trees blanketing the paths at night, with many more old ruins, making it the perfect place to trespass as teenage punks to congregate and drink after seeing bands and eating Oki Dogs. After jumping the fence or sneaking past the old gate, there were two directions to go. Up the road from the Vista fence, the wreckage of an old car that had veered off the road and down the hillside still lay rest at the bottom. The other path snaked around the old tennis court, where the words "Welcome to Hell" had been spray-painted in huge letters across the entirety of the court. Further up was the destination, which was where the old pool house that Errol Flynn used to live in later in his life. The house had burned down, but the old empty pool and little underground caves were still present, along with various concrete ruins from the house's foundation. There was the top of a brick wall at the edge by the pool at ground level, with a sharp drop-off that we would sit, drink cheap beer, and look out over the entire span of Los Angeles and Hollywood city lights from high in the sky.
Then, back in the late 90s, the area was renovated, the pool landscaped over, and the steep drop-off smoothed down for safety, and opened to the public. It's not like it was back in the day, but it remains a great place to hike.
There are too many stories and memories I could share of the nights we would spend at what was then referred to as "Errol Flynn's," though too much for a comment, and enough to fill a book. Anyway, here's the link I mentioned, which features a brief history and some excellent photos that capture its past. Highly recommend checking it out! hollywoodphotographs.photoshelter.com/gallery/Runyon-Canyon-The-Pines/G00005GcXwUZuPLY/
By the way, we love your songs and saw you perform at The Echo back in 2016/2017, and we said hello to you after the set when you were at the merch table. I had already ordered your EP from Bandcamp, which you sent to me when you were still living in Oakland. My wife and I always jokingly refer to you as our adopted daughter, and we've enjoyed watching you grow as an artist and wish you continued success in the years ahead!
Be careful and wear your mask around people so you don't' get the COVID. Peace and stay healthy!
i always bring a mask with me and put it on if i see people coming my way! safety first :)
This is so rad. Please keep it up and stay safe. Thank you for everything. l can’t get enough of your music.
I think most people have already said this but I'll say it too, it's nice to see you in an unpolished video. It feels like something a friend would share. Be careful out there. I've done a few solo trips in my time in Canada and I'm always more fearful when I'm closer to other people than completely alone. I love your love for nature. Look forward to the next one. Cheers!
I listen to your songs Fix and Going Back Home on loops probably every day. I come back to your music when it feels right.
It's lovely to see you just being you. It feels like you're not too different than the rest of us ''simple people'' :)
Love from Israel.
Incredible views!! Thanks for sharing your little adventure 😎
That escalated quick. From beautiful too spooky
I check the time the sun is due to set, and divide the time until sunset by half, so half the time walking 1 way, half the time back 👍✌
I think you should keep doing these! I liked hearing your thoughts and insights. And the views were nice.
Yay!!...i loved, we want more adventures please!! 🌻🌺🌼✌🏻☮❤
Cool video Hazel, please have more adventures. Play and having a sense of wonder definitely fosters creativity
love this, did a huge walk into some cool woods after watching this inspiring. the view of the lights flicking of the houses at the end of your video is stunning by the way :)
