    Hey guys thanks for your videos another question if you don't mind. I'm in Tasmania and I know from talking to other people that use the Nox 800 that they have a similar problem i.e. a solid signal or even multiple signals on every swing on some ground. The I.D. is between 11-16 and no amount of turning the sensitivity down seems to help, also it's hard to isolate the signal to a single target when you dig, what's going on I thought that hot rocks were in the negative I.D. After talking to someone here in Tassie that has the same experience we both agreed that the only way to work that ground is to notch out those numbers. I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

      Hi John, unfortunately that is the nature of geology right there! As good as our machines are, sometimes you will encounter rocks that are a different mineralization than the surrounding ground which the detector is ground balanced to. This results in this rock (or pocket of ground) giving a signal. In this case, your rocks are such an extreme difference to the detectors ground balance, it is producing a non ferrous response. I have a spot up this way where 11, 12, 13 is 99/100 times a hot rock or clay dome- sadly the only real way to deal with this is to notch out those numbers. yes, you may miss a larger nugget doing that, but it does save you digging hundreds of hot rocks. The other less risky way is to simply hit the horse-shoe (all metal) button when you get a signal with your 11-16 id, and if the numbers change to minus (iron) id numbers you can leave it alone. and keep detecting.

      @@MinersDenAustralia Thanks for taking the time to answer, as you say it seems like mixed ground mineralization that the detectors ground balance can't keep up with, rather than individual hot rocks. And yes when it happens multiple times in each swing the only way to deal with it is to notch them out. When they are less frequent I will try your all metal approach, thanks.

      Both the monster and the 800 are toys we bought a jaycar 60 dollar detector and apart from the expensive carbide batteries outperformed both the monster and the 800
      Because the dirt cheap detector was so brutal in finding every junk target you could tune it right down opposite to the VLF machines and easily and quietly swing but when a target like a ring pull presents it goes spastic...l hate the sound of the monster it's like paranoid skitsophrenic even dialed in...problem with the jaycar detector is that you will need a chiropractor after a gold treasure hunt...good thing is seeing you will probably only use it once a year you save over a thousand dollars on the glorified VLF minelab toys.
      Unless you have 7 thousand dollar for a 6500 lab...you may as well tape a pinpointer to a stick and pretend you do because they may say they are gold detectors but the discrimination is virtually the difference between barbed wire and a bottle top.
      Hope this helps

    Thanks for the video do you ever use the Equinox in all metal, or just to check a signal. I find there's too much chatter with all metal in the ground I work, do you think I'm losing depth in disc. should I put up with the chatter and try all metal ?

    • @MinersDenAustralia
      @MinersDenAustralia  Год назад

      Hi john, the loss of depth discrimination is very minimal honestly- i do however use the all metal mode to check some iffy signals- after checking in all metal, if the number changes to a minus value, you can be sure it is a sneaky iron target that is giving off some non ferrous signal.

    Why did you have to keep ground balancing the gm??

    • @MinersDenAustralia
      @MinersDenAustralia  6 месяцев назад +1

      the gold monster being a vlf machine is particularly sensitive to changes in ground mineralization- ground balancing every meter or 2 makes sure it is perfectly ground balanced at all times, therefore avoiding the risk of ground signal masking out the signal of a metallic target

      @@MinersDenAustralia At the risk of appearing to be a smart arse, and not to trivialize the original point, I thought the GM 1000 was so basic it didn't need instructions, but that does lead me to a serious question about it, are you able to disc. out hot rocks with it, if not how do you deal with hot ground.

      If you haven't already smashed the monster do this clean it and put it on gumtree...
      We tested a jaycar sub 100 dollar detector alongside the monster and the jaycar was better the winner..you may need a chiropractor after a hunt but for the rare times you go wasting your time looking for gold a thousand in the kitty is better than a VLF minelab
      Better still if you have a pinpointer tie it to a stick and pretend you have a minelab 6500..
