Hello everyone, the title says it all: In this video, we play all of the compact TD-1KV's module's onboard kits, to give you an impression of the capabilities of the kit & module.
It's a fun little electronic drum kit for starters & kids, and it reminds me of the old Star Wars toys I used to play with in the early 80s ;)

ive got this kit and is amazing, you can play live or just practice in your house, it is not a super pro kit as the tdk11kv but it gets the job done really well.. Recomended for tose who donot want to spend that much money but want an amazing sound

This kit has some really good rock and pop kits - all round it's actually still probably the best entry level kit ever made.
Plus dual zone chokable cymbals and an extra crash trigger, and the sounds are good.

for home studio this one is the best,fits perfectly in a room and has allbthe necessary kits for rock ,jazz blues for other type of electronic genre I will use my drum machines.

This video actually help me find the right electronic drum set for my room. I use kit 3 a lot. This set is amazing and fits well in small places. My parents say that they would never let me get and actual set and wanna buy a legit kit but I think I'll stay with this. Plus it fits in my college dorm well

I was surprised how well this allowed me to get 80 percent of the way to any recording I jammed along with. If you could save even one kit from your choice of sounds, its power would double. It has some really good TD 50 sounds in it. But you cant do anything but play those 15 kits as is, not even tuning. I had to put mine on flower pots for proper height, and I am 5 8 at best.
Kit 13 simmons would be great with a Simmons snare on the snare, instead they give you a sound just like the middle tom.
It has some of the best sounds Roland has done and I am not hearing those sounds in other Roland modules. But you cant DO anything to them, the sounds and the kits are what they are forever.
Hey Evan, glad you like the TD-1 sounds, but it certainly has no TD-50 sounds/samples in icurrent t. The TD-1 has a limited sample pool from the TD-11, which actually was the predecessor of the TD-17 module (which indeed shares some sounds with the TD-50). Kind regards!
I have this kit with the stock snare- not this mesh one. This is a decent kit with an inexperienced drummer like myself. Good to know It’s an awesome and capable kit with a drummer as good as this guy!! Inspiring👍🏽

I just bought the 1-k version (no mesh snare) and we all love it, it's so much fun. My daughter loves kit #5. I'm planning to upgrade the snare to a PDX-8 at some point.

Roland's entry-level drums sounds better than its competitor in the similar price bracket. Nearly as good as accoustic drum kit to my ears.

The TD-1KV is rather limited (overall size, rubber tom pads, tiny cymbals, foot controllers play unrealistic).
If you want more "real" drum features & playability, you should rather consider the Roland TD-11KV:

It’s pretty good but from experience I’d say the Yamaha dtx 400k is a bit better even though they are both pretty similar
Do what I did if you are on the cheap.
Get the third crash and upgrade the kick upgrade so you can use an actual kick paddle. It's still a billion times cheaper than the td11kv for a beginner.
I had like 800 euros into the kit and the TD11 would have cost me almost 1500 incl. taxes.

I have a Roland td1k, will it work if I just replace my snare with the one you would get on that drum kit? The snare on mine looks exactly like all the toms

Tempted by this as a beginners kit (I am a keyboard player and have only layed down drums(played, not step programmed) in DAW:s via midi on the normal keys)
1. For triggering drum in a DAW via Midi, how is the latency (Assuming you have set the audio card at fairly low numbers, like 3 ms "out") are there any additional latency that you can "feel" from the e-drums-kit itself?
2. Is it silent enough to play late evenings/nights with headphones on and still not disturb the neighbors (I live o a bottom floor so "kick taps" and the like doesn't matter) or are there better more silent alternatives for that?

There is really no replacing acoustic, electronic cost more and looks cheap but acoustic cost less and looks nice.
Hi, this is the smallest e-kit of the whole Roland beginner product line :) you should have a look at bigger & more realistic systems like the drum-tec Jam / diabolo / pro series electronic drums in combination with upper level Roland sound modules triggering sample based sound libraries. You can get very realistic results, without the noise levels of an acoustic kit...

Kit 2 sounds really robust here but my snare doesn’t sound like that, it’s quite flat, like it’s got a slight rattle to it, no matter how hard I hit the pad - does anyone know why? I’ve been using bog standard iPhone headphones while I wait for the ones I ordered to arrive, could that be it? Can’t think why it sounds a bit tinny rather than a powerful snare sound like this one, it’s the exact same kit =\

Hey Max, no unfortunately the TD-1 module does not offer any advanced kit editing. You would have to step up to a TD-17 module to do that:

Hey Mark, this is the smallest & most affordable starter kit that Roland has been offering in the past, so obviously pretty much everything about the kit is a compromise (so is the small rack construction). If you are looking for an affordable, yet more stable alternative, please check out the more erecent Roland TD-1DMK:

I used to be an accoustic drummer but i don't have the space anymore does this drum sets feels ok i am not expecting anything too good i just want a little affordable e drum that i can have fun and practice with :)

I’m looking for a good drum kit, (not so expensive) and I’m between these two kits.
Hi Rafael, TD-1DMK has much better pads (all mesh) & is more flexible with the MDV-Compact rack. Apart from this, it has an actual bass drum pad, while the TD-1KV only has a controller pedal, which feels quite unnatural for bass drum. You can find the kit over here:

Hi, you could connect a KD-9 kick pad instead of the controller pedal for example & use a regular double pedal on it. But I suggest to rather have a look at the newer TD-1DMK kit:

@@youssefmagednosseir While they might be slightly more flexible for transportation, I´d suggest to think about playing feel in the first place. The TD-1DMK delivers a much better playing experience than the other kits and comes with better pads. Kind regards!
