    Delta Comfort Plus on the 767-300/ER is one of those kinds of airline products that sounds great (in theory), but doesn’t quite live up to the name.
    This is a full review of my experience on Delta flight number 820 from San Diego to Atlanta in December 2021. I chose Comfort Plus (sort of like Premium Economy) for this segment, and if I had to do it all over again, I probably would have saved the money and went with basic economy instead.
    I had seat number 16A for this 4 hour flight, and the aircraft registration was N195DN. And yes, the Goldfish were spectacular (as all Goldfish are).

    On the Delta app it does not promise a luxury flight. It gives the exact picture & description of everything that Delta Comfort Plus including inches of leg room & reclining. On an only 4 hour flight Delta states that flyers get a snack, not a dinner. That's why it's not expensive. Any misconceptions are purely from the customer that didn't read the description.

    Comfort plus is not premium economy its just an extra legroom seat with free alcohol. Premium Economy is marketed Delta Premium Select.

    • @sanspotter
      @sanspotter  2 года назад +11

      Still though, to most people, paying extra for an economy seat with a few extra perks does make it seem like they’re getting “premium” economy. The whole naming and branding thing is really confusing.

      On domestic markets it is considered their premium economy. I will say it is very different from extra seats on UA and AA as it IS its own cabin and it is a different seat type.

      @@sanspotter definitely! You can't beat that layout.... I recently flew DL 763 from jfk to lax. I was actually looking forward to it, but the fact that you can't get a decent snack on board (not even buying it) made the experience not very good. Next time? A pre departure meal is a must.

  • @JuanWayTrips
    @JuanWayTrips 2 года назад +85

    I'm 99% sure no one has ever called Comfort+ "Premium Economy" 😆 (especially because Delta does have a proper Premium Economy product and never sells C+ as that). C+ is basically the same as AA's Main Cabin Extra and UA's Economy Plus. When I first saw this video, I thought it was going to be one of Delta's actual Premium Economy seats on a domestic route, but that gets marketed and sold as Comfort+.
    I think people can be overly positive about DL and they need more criticism (saying this as a Platinum Medallion), but this one kinda missed the marked. Your expectations were way off and never really aligned with how C+ is usually marketed.

    • @jasoncassady6286
      @jasoncassady6286 2 года назад +5

      They actually do sell C+ as their Premium Select seats on all domestic flights operated by the 767-400, A350, A330neo and select 763 and 332/3 flights that are equipped with the product.

    • @JuanWayTrips
      @JuanWayTrips 2 года назад +5

      @@jasoncassady6286 But the key is that it's sold as Comfort+, not PS. Flew their A350 between DTW and LAX last year. Got upgraded right away to their PS seats but it was marked as Comfort+, and the typical Comfort+ seats are marked as Preferred if there are Premium Select/Economy seats. Delta only sells Premium Select on international routes.
      American is the same way. Flew their 787 and their Premium Economy seats were sold as MCE.

    • @sanspotter
      @sanspotter  2 года назад +21

      The point of this video was that most people (not frequent flyers) have no idea that Comfort Plus isn’t premium economy. Since when is paying for a better economy experience not “premium economy”? I knew I was taking a risk titling this one the way I did, but I’m basically calling delta out for having a confusing product naming scheme. 😄

    • @JuanWayTrips
      @JuanWayTrips 2 года назад +2

      @@sanspotter I feel like those same people are the ones who buy basic economy and then are shocked when they can't sit with their family and all have middle seats throughout the cabin. I know flying these days requires more research, but also these products didn't appear overnight. Maybe I'm just a mean grump, but I feel like many of the complaints, whether about Spirit, Southwest, or Delta, come from people who didn't take a few minutes to Google what they were getting.
      Now if you want a real scam, target the "preferred" seats the airlines have. Where they are literally the same economy seats (no extra legroom outside of the exit row) but cost extra unless you're a Silver Medallion (or higher) simply because they're at the front of the cabin. I don't mind the airlines having preferred seats for elites, but selling them to the general public seems like a money grab.

    "Let's be honest this is basically economy class". Exactly Comfort Plus IS economy same everything just more legroom. To be clear on other flights Delta does have an upgraded Premium Economy. If your ticket is for comfort plus that isn't it. It is economy with more legroom. For those of us 6 ft+ it is the bare minimum. Food, seats, IFE, everything is is exactly economy but with the seats having a longer pitch.

  • @DirectionlessStudent
    @DirectionlessStudent Год назад +1

    Yeah the issue is those 767-300s are old and outdated, so none of the upgrade classes are as nice as they are on the newer Delta planes. This is mostly about the route. Those planes are on the less traveled routes, so if you are doing one of those, you're stuck with the 767-300 -- you probably don't have a choice on Delta. The biggest benefit to Comfort+ is the 2 seat config on the sides. If you are traveling as a couple it's nice to not be stuck with one middle seat or someone between the two of you.

You can pay for first class and an 8 oz meal and an alcoholic drink... or premium economy with minimally larger seat with free bottled water... or just go coach and spend the money you save on hotel accommodations or whatnot. If you can get by without flying domestically you may wanna just drive, stay in mid classed hotels, and eat quite well for the same price. Remember... those sitting in the front are spending $thousands to get there.

    Unless I'm mistaken, you weren't in premium economy (aka Premium Select), but just economy with more legroom, aka Comfort+. That's why the seats are the way they are, and why it's 2-3-2 (width of seat identical to basic economy).
    And dude, are you comparing international premium economy on international carriers with an American carrier's economy+ (econ with more leg room), on a domestic flight....? They're not in the same category, my friend ;-)

Lol Premium economy is the 1st class of the economy class & it's next to business class !! 1st class,( some don't have 1st class anymore even ! ) business class ,then premium ( premium economy ),economy comfort ,or plus ,or de light ( virgin Atlantic. Comfort plus its not premium economy, its economy with extra space.
    I will use United airlines because it Will be easier to explain the diferent classes.
    1) United economy
    2 United economy plus (economy with extra space)
    3) United primium plus (real premium economy)
    4) United polaris business ( business class or first domestic)
    In these video you flew with the option 2 economy plus no option 3 premium economy.

  • @zoebells767
    @zoebells767 2 года назад +2

    I’m very confused. Premium Economy is a completely separate class and a bigger seat. You booked Comfort+. Why are you acting like it’s PE? You’re acting like you should get a meal when you just book economy with extra legroom.

    • @sanspotter
      @sanspotter  2 года назад +1

      That’s kind of the point of this video. People who know a lot about Delta and the aviation industry (such as yourself) know exactly what Comfort plus is. But it’s probably really confusing to many who decide to pay extra for a better economy experience, only to realize later that it’s not much different than basic economy. To most people (I assume), paying extra for a better economy experience IS “premium economy.” The once-a-year flyers have no clue what Comfort + and Premium Select are.

    The one issue is that this isn't marketed as "Premium Economy", so you can't really fault Delta for not meeting "Premium" expectations. They DO have a "Premium Select" on certain planes and that experience is entirely different. I just think you're expectations might have not matched with what the product truly is. It's only extra legroom, nothing else. They don't sell it as anything more...

      and he's reviewed Premium Select!

    • @sanspotter
      @sanspotter  2 года назад +2

      My biggest issue is with the seat itself and not so much the service. Delta still uses these aircraft on long-haul international flights, and I’d feel sorry for anyone who selects one of these for a 10+ hour flight thinking that they are getting a true premium economy experience. Since Delta doesn’t show pictures of the seats during the booking process, I’m sure a lot of people make that mistake.

  • @moosemaster13

    Heh. It's weird you didn't even get the option to buy a snack box. I frequently fly Delta and it has always been an option for domestic flights around an hour and a half or longer on mainline. Also, Comfort Plus comes with complimentary alcohol.

    • @sanspotter
      @sanspotter  2 года назад

      Yeah, I don’t know what it is with me and Delta lately, but they’ve been really skimping on the food. I was at least expecting a snack box for purchase, but there was nothing. I guess I should’ve hit them up on their offer for free alcohol. 😄

  • @johns4651
    @johns4651 2 года назад

    I must say the "food" is shocking. With BA premium economy folks get the same meals as the business class cabin, which means real food with silverware! USA based airlines are shocking in terms of hard product I observed, very stingy!
    And BA's premium economy is a physicality separate cabin (which means quieter) and the seats are PE seats (wider, bigger screen, bigger recline etc).

    • @sanspotter
      @sanspotter  2 года назад +1

      Delta does have better premium economy seats on other aircraft, but the food selection is terrible on US domestic flights. Delta pretty much stopped serving real food on many routes, which is really disappointing.
