  • My friend Brian Betz W7JET invited me to join him in the co-pilot seat to do a Summits on the Air activation near Show Low, Arizona. We flew to Show Low early in the morning, hopped into the xTerra at the airport, stopped for breakfast and then hiked Saint Peter’s Dome. This 10-Point summit is a really steep cinder cone covered with pines. After the activation, we sauntered to lunch and then back to the airport. What a way to do SOTA! Conditions were great and we both enjoyed the time on the air with our ham radios.

    I just looked up Saint Peters Dome. Cool place. With the elevation around 9000' no wonder you were out of breath! Enjoyed the activation.

      Hi Patrick - well thank you for acknowledging the elevation, but we could also stand to loose a few pounds. Thanks for always supporting!

      That's what Brian says. It sure does move fast through the air. I was impressed.

    Cool. What logging program do you guys recommend for use on my Android cellphone? I’m tired of paper logging!

    • @RedSummitRF
      @RedSummitRF  10 месяцев назад +1

      haha I was a staunch paper logger until I started getting logs with 50+ contacts. Then I got tired of it too. I have tried quite a few cell phone loggers for SOTA. My favorite one, and the one I currently use is HAMRS. You have to pay for it, but it is the best for SOTA and POTA in my opinion. my second choice would be OutD Log, and third would be VK-Port-Log. This 3rd one isn't in the Play Store. You have to install it independent of the store. I have some videos on these logs.
