I really wish RUclipsrs wouldn’t put inspirational music in the background of their videos. It’s a psychology trick which makes any dialogue sound more profound or wise.
coda creator to conclude that a person is profound and wise, is showing ones own level of knowledge and intelligence. I like this guy, I agree and understand what he says, but he only appears profound and wise to people with subordinate knowledge and intelligence.
On his bit about thinking. A wise man once uttered, "For most people, thoughts occur to them randomly, and they accept them. They call this 'thinking.' It is not. Thinking is conjuring a mental position, and then observing it from as many different positions as possible, and testing it for its logical sufficiency. You try to destroy that position. That is thinking." Most people don't think. Thoughts happen to them.
I think you haven't thought it through. We must think, to investigate what our minds text us, yes, some go with that meggage, they call it instinctive reaction, and there's nothing wrong with doing what's needs to be done. It's, your judgement that's call into questin, right or wrongly.
I would just like to listen to this guy for my entire life, as long as that lasts, i don't wanna ever stop being inspired by him. He is simply brilliant.

This beautiful man is probably the only person I could listen to for hours and hours. I don't even like watching interviews with him, because there will be somebody else speaking 😆
Excellent thoughts. I agree that we need to improve us, us people. Alain gives us good ideas of how to do it. I wish these concepts were introduced into regular school curriculum. Thank you!
@Cliff Hanley Incurious? You wish he was a Christian? I'd say curiosity about the whole God business is exactly what gets you further away from it generally speaking.
@Cliff Hanley Where do you get the impression that he's incurious? What is there to be curious about? I'm simply exhausted of all the nonsensical theist rhetoric and arguement style personally. Goodness can we just not have it anymore? Can we move on from the whole religion thing as a species finally? What curiosity is there to have in the circular, never ending, irrationality of discussion on the topic? It's so simple to refute theistic trifle I don't have an ounce of curiosity left for any of it. (Speaking to a theist) You cannot proove god exists, much less your one. I cannot disproove god. Therefore what does it matter?
@Cliff Hanley dear Cliff, nobody is asking Alain to bring God in his words. Let the man talk the way he needs to talk. If he doesn't talk about God, hé doesn't talk about God, no comment. I am interested in Alain. Nobody is interested in a version of him you wish him to be; because that is NOT him.
Alain your voice is charming and I love the way you illustrate such complicate modern life issues! By listening to your talk I can immidiately visualize your ideas in my head. It is maybe because I prefer listening that I personally find watching youtube rather distracting. I appreciate your hard work, Alain! Keep up the good work!! Cheers from Korea!!!

Long comment here... If you read it I would love to hear anything you might have to say in response :) This talk speaks quite directly to many ideas that have been tumbling around in my mind in the recent few years. In the times that I am discouraged by the seemingly glacier slow progress of societies the world over, it bogs me down that we have such powerful technologies that don't seem to be effectively harnessed to seek betterment for humans, and the world at large. Alain's focus on diverse education, strength in numbers (as a community, not as a brute force,) the importance of critical thought, spirituality as an important aspect of life in humans, the transformative power of the emergent technologies of our day, the importance of art; I believe these concepts discussed, and more, are important elements to remedy the slow progress that I perceive in the world around me. I am so appreciative of the succinct presentation Alain shared, it feels wonderful to hear other people with ideas similar to mine, giving me more food for thought to consider in those lines of thought. This act of sharing represents to me a fine example of effectively applying technology to promote the unity and progress that it enables. I hope for content like this to rise in popularity. Great to hear what Alain had to say in this video, and hear about what he is doing with Leaders In Action Society. This video is the first I have heard of him and I will look forward to hearing more. I have a couple of notes, one disagreement, one topic I think would be good to include in a talk such as this, respectively: - Though I agree with the overall point Alain made about drugs, "drugs" refers to a very large set of substances (which I see as a form of technology,) that vary so greatly. Yes, addiction is a hindrance on the lives of those who are dealing with it or the people around them, it's not good for anyone. I say this as an addict myself. I do see myself as an example of how drugs can be used irresponsibly and harmfully. That being said, I am quite convinced that responsible use of drugs, when used safely and intentionally, can be a great technology. Obviously traditional medical drugs, with scientifically tested curative properties, are a great and powerful technology. But some drugs come with that mental component, which is harder to qualify as good or bad due to the subjectivity of the benefits and the disadvantages of mind altering drugs. Since the individual's mind is a mediator to the effects experienced, those effects will vary significantly person to person, as our mental differences can be so great. Alteration of consciousness comes with great risk, and great reward. I feel that in a society that does not demonize or criminalize mind altering substances, in which research, education and harm reduction are the focus where drugs are concerned, society might be better off. The shift towards using drugs as a tool can create positive change in mental health, philosophical discussion, spirituality and creativity. But as with most complex societal discussions, I think that to have the change in perspective on alteration of the mind, the change must come in hand with a more broad set of changes in society. I believe Alain has the great ideas about the kinds of changes that might bring about our responsible use of all sorts of such nuanced technologies. - A subject I would like to see presented along with those that Alain has approached here is sustainability. I see sustainability as a broad term, primarily referring to maintaining balance and promoting longevity in the planet's natural ecosystems, but also to refer to sustaining the longevity of the planet in a more detailed, holistic sense. By this I essentially mean that we humans are a part and a product of our environment, along with literally everything on earth. So, seeing environmental sustainability as an issue external to the human condition seems like an error in thinking to me. Recently I have come to think of people being resistant to addressing sustainability issues in our climate as a sort of microcosm of the societal problems that are stifling progression towards a sustainable social structure around the world. It seems to me that even if we cant work together well enough to fix our approach to environmental issues, then maybe we cant work together to fix issues in society. However, I have a sense of optimism that maybe sustainability of the environment can be an issue that might kickstart the global community into collaborating and working together more. Tackling this huge issue is becoming more and more possible as our tech improves, and our understanding is shared and expanded. As we are all equally a part of the planet, we should be able to unite in protecting it. Finally I'd like to say that this inspiration I am feeling reminds me of what I imagine the renaissance was like for those who were privileged enough to be a part of the massive change that some societies experienced during that time. It feels like with technology being as it is, so quickly developing, that we are in the earlier stages of some new renaissance . With our connected world and so many more people with the privilege to access knowledge and technology I am excited to see how the world plays out in the near future. And dare I say, I am very cautiously optimistic. I'll say again, if you have any comments and you managed to get through this massive thing, I'd love to hear them
Also, that finishing remark: "I think we are going to see in many ways a merger of art and technology in the area of emotional intelligence" Hell ya, love that
This is also the first video I've heard about him I'm planning on getting one of his books and watching more of school of life and his talks I'd love to get into his world view

I have a couple of notes, one disagreement, one topic I think would be good to include in a talk such as this, respectively:
- Though I agree with the overall point Alain made about drugs, "drugs" refers to a very large set of substances (which I see as a form of technology,) that vary so greatly. Yes, addiction is a hindrance on the lives of those who are dealing with it or the people around them, it's not good for anyone. I say this as an addict myself.
