Hikaru is a LEGEND in Japan, I've been listening to her for 20+ years. She was born in NYC then I believe she grew up in Japan and NYC and I believe she's lived in the UK for many years now. This song is the theme song to the new anime film 'Evangelion 1.0+3.0,' the fourth and final film in the series and she has contributed a song to all three previous films. I highly recommend you check out more of her stuff!
Utada Hikaru is a great Jpop artist. Other songs to listen to from her is Automatic, Addicted to You, First Love.

Hikaru Utada lives in London, so she's bound to all the same COVID lockdown, tier madness as the everybody else in the UK; which is why the video looks Vlog-like, as she couldn't do a full-blown production ting. But that said, this feels like the kind of video she would have done regardless.
If you liked this, you should definitely check out some of her other stuff. She has songs in English too under 'Utada'. Almost all of her music videos are on RUclips, and her full discography is on streaming.

Hiki is damn near 40 and her very natural looks are as killer as her voice. Been listening to her since Early 00s and to see her do all of the Rebuild films is so satisfying. The only R&B I can stand is from this woman.

This is jpop that's from japan not korea
Utada is awesome. She's actually Jpop (Japanese pop) and has been around since the early 2000s. She was known for her American style R&B sound compared to other Jpop artist at the time. Haven't followed her but most of my faves were from her early albums such as Traveling, Simple and Clean, Sakura Drops, Distance, Can you keep a secret, Hikari, Addicted to you, etc. I would be careful reacting to Jpop artists though. Japanese record labels are notoriously fond of copyright strikes on YT.
Some other Jpop artist you should check out are Ayumi Hamasaki, Nami Amuro, and BoA. Though BoA is actually Korean and is known as the queen of Kpop. I've mentioned it before and I'll say it again you should really check out BoA. She's legendary status and is one of the major reasons why Kpop artists even make Japanese versions of their albums.
Jpop was on fire with these artists at their peak. I miss those days

It’s J-Pop. You might want to check out COME BACK TO ME. It’s all English lyrics. She’s been writing, singing, and producing most of her songs since she was 14. Her debut song is AUTOMATIC. I think she was 15 when she wrote it. Her mother was a famous singer who suffered from mental illness and she committed suicide. Her songs always have a glimmer of hope or talk about not giving up because of the relationship she had with her mother.

1. Lucky Tapes - their songs are RnB-ish and also sometimes jazzy. their music videos are also aesthetically pleasing. some of their songs i'd recommend are Mood and Actor.
2. Wednesday Campanella - i cant really compare their music and style to any other artist,. i think you guys would like to check them out , they're very unique and their music videos are also top notch. some songs i'd recommend are Melos and Aladdin. Have a great day guys!

[About This Music Video]
The music video is directed by the SHIN EVANGELION Director Hideaki Anno.
By request from Hikaru Utada, the Director readily agreed to work on the video, saying "Under the present circumstances [requiring measures for COVID-19], a possible way to create a music video without actually directing a video shoot would be for the artist to film herself and any other footage on her end, then sending them to me to cut and edit into the final video."
Anno sent the basic minimal asks by email including some requests for eye focus and lip sync, and the artist ventured to the outskirts of London on a video shoot with minimal staff help and all the necessary COVID precautions. The video footage garnered using various devices, including smartphones, was then sent to Anno and staff in Japan for finishing.
Hope you enjoy this finished piece, it's a little bit bittersweet, and like revisiting intimate and precious memories from times past.

Utada Hikaru is currently living in London, the person who is recording the video right now is Hideaki Anno (the director and creator of Evangelion).
Actually, for the pandemic, Hikaru Utada recorded the clips by herself with another two people in London and send the whole material to Hideaki Anno, he's the one who edited and direct the video at distance. She followed the specific line he asks her to record :)
