You can use any cable for anything you want assuming it has enough wires and you have enough frequency. That's how some risers abuse USB A type cables to transfer PCIe signal; mining doesn't need a lot of bandwidth, so using just 4 wires is enough.

Their own techs were having issues as well trying to fix the problems. The monitors would turn off and not come back up without a series of reboots of both boxes on both sides of the KVM and the PC. Can't remember what the fix was, but wish it would have worked as well as these cards.

You could point to the connectors coming from the graphics card, going through the 100 meters of shielded CAT 7, Out to the HDMI adapters to the monitors. People would just not listen or ignore it. Not to mention the "IR" blaster outputs, IR pass through, and the RS232 Serial outputs. The Idea of pointing with a remote. People would glaze over and not hear you. You Needed his demonstration to make the gears turn in people's head. Your monitors and control setup could be a few floors up. With the right PoE switch and PoE media converter for your PoE applications. You could be on the other side of a stadium. The applications for this are endless. Only Linus could show this in 10 minutes without boring people to sleep. Like I just did.

I've used this sort of cabling at job sites. Funny thing is you actually need extra support and strain relief for all those heavy connectors (see how they sag in the vid?) - especially if you have a rack mount with many of these cards - even if you don't need any extra support for the wimpy little single-slot half-size GPU cards they stick into.
Linus could've just plugged into whatever spare ethernet cable runs he might already have installed in his building. But if he did that then the video wouldn't be ten minutes long.

This basically very useful if you are running very long cable runs. Or using a HDBST system. Very useful for smart homes. Its a lot more reliable to run a cat 6 and then using HDMI extenders, rather then a long HDMI. What you have there is the next step up, the video card is pretty much a long HDMI extender with the transmitter built in the card and the receiver on the other end. Also I did 400 ft for a house at 4k resolutions using a 4k HDBST video matrix and no worries the tech is that good.
